Chapter 9: Chapter 9

Avatia's POV.

I walked into the extremely quiet house the next morning sending a small smile to Leo.

"Hi Ava, quite early today." He greeted me back with a rather wide smile. "Boss is having his breakfast so you might just sit and wait for him to come."

"Oh, I'd just go do my work," I said and turned to leave when I heard the clicking of shoes. My eyes followed the direction of the sound till the well-polished shoe came into sight. I slowly looked up, eyes landing on a perfectly ironed and fitting tux. I felt too intimidated to look at his face so I just went on with a 'good morning.'

"So you came? Thought you wouldn't." I heard him say. How rude. The guy couldn't even reply with a good morning too.

"Yeah, I came back, so you thought wrong." I retort. This guy was bringing out the worst in me.

The little scowl on his face turns to a full-blown one. Good one there. At least that got him. I can tell no one speaks to him like that. Where I get this kind of courage, I honestly don't even know. "You know, you don't look like the mouthy type, you don't know who I am, do you? " He asked in an amused tone but I could tell he was just keeping his anger in one piece.

By this time, Leo was giving me a keep quiet look which I ignored. Mr. Black has to be told he can't just speak to people like that. Where I come from, we respect one another. "Well, Mr. Black, you see, I don't know who you are, all I know is, you're one big person who thinks he can control anyone at any time."

This time, the amusement is visible. "I can." He says.

I pout. This man is a pain in my butt. "Well, you can't. I own my life and I decide who tells me what to do. And you won't tell me what to do." I look at him and that stupid amused look is still on his face. "Don't look at me like that."

He chuckles a bit and my heart skips. Never have I seen a guy who can beat him in handsomeness. This man is everything. Everything about him screams perfection. Even his chuckle and cute dimple on his left cheek. "Have you seen how funny you look when you're mad?"

I snap out of my thoughts as my face starts to redden, a blush forming.

He chuckles again. "And it's even funnier when you're all red. You look like a chicken."

I looked down smiled a bit, not because what he said was funny, but because watching him laugh was adorable. I was about to speak when I heard the door shut. When did he walk from here to the door? I didn't even realize.

"That's a first. The boss smiling, impressive. Anyways, you're stuck with me again." I hear Leo say. "Don't you bother sweetheart, I'll keep you company when I'm done with lunch."

What's a first? I mean everyone smiles. I speak up fast so he doesn't know I'm thinking about what he said. "That sounds good. But I've got a better idea."

Here we are, Leo's sitting on the sofa in the painting room talking none stop about stars and I'm busy trying to get it on with the sea. Trying so hard to make this painting look real and cool. There's no royal blue paint so I'm kinda confused about how I'd finish this.

"That's so beautiful," Leo says.

"Now? I thought you were saying something about Nicki." I tease him.

A mischievous grin forms on his lips. "Yeah... About fucking that big ass of hers." I roll my eyes. "I didn't have to hear that, Leo."

"Well, you did. So tell me, sweet Ava, how old are you, you look so young." He asked, quite interested.

I turn from my work and look at him. "Real ladies don't give out their ages, so there." And I turn back and smirk. Good one there.

"But you're not a lady, you're a BABY."

"Huh? Don't say that, I'm 21." I defend myself proudly and realized I had just gone against my word.

"Gotcha," Leo screamed. "I'm a genius."

"Whatever. Anyways, what does Mr. Black do for a living? Does he own a company?" I ask. Oh no! All this while I've been thinking of him to the point of asking.

Leo stands up like he's leaving. "That's for me to know and for you to find out." And he's gone, just like that.

Well, that's something. I take off my gloves and follow him. "Common Leo, just tell me," I beg him. I have no idea why on earth I'm begging him. Mr. Black is taking a toll on my life.

"On one condition, honey," Leo says with a stupid smirk on his face and a cocked eyebrow.

I'm I that desperate to know more about the grey-eyed god to the extent of working on conditions? "No problem and that's only if it's legal."

"Accompany me to my golf game tomorrow morning. It's a Saturday. " He said.

That's not so bad. "Sure, why not." I mean it's legal and I really wanna know more about my boss.

"As my girlfriend." He smiles like an idiot. "What????? "

***********

"Seriously baby that desperate huh?" Kenny asked from his kitchen. After work and waiting for Mr. Black (who didn't return) I decided to come to stay with Kenny.

"Avatia do you have a crush on that man?"

I almost choke on mg milkshake. Oh my goodness, do I have a crush on Mr. Black?

No! No! No! "No! No Ken, how can you say that? That's my boss, you know?"

"Yes Ava, I've honestly never seen you talk about any man like this. Sweetheart, you like him, that's why you agreed to go with that Leo guy tomorrow." Kenny explained while he handed me a plate of pasta. Hmmm.

Now that I think of it, I can't help but feel ashamed of myself. Have a crush on my boss? That's kinda low and I can't just call Leo now and cancel our date.

"But hey, is this Leo guy handsome?" Kenny asked with a mischievous grin.

I smile. "More than you can imagine. And he looks like he's in his mid-twenties." "Then he should be the one you think of, not that evil boss of yours." Kenny

feigned a shriek. "Either way, we've got to make you look hot for your date tomorrow. I mean you rarely go on dates. Wait for a fuck, you've never gone on a date before."

"Don't be silly, I did go on prom." I defend myself. "Although I've never gone on a golf date before." I shrug.

Kenny thinks for a second. "Your mom doesn't know, right? "

As much as I feel bad that I'm lying to mommy, it's also for our good. This is gonna be my last year in college and I don't want her stressing out so much. "Nope."

"Well then honey, we're storming your closet," Kenny screams excitedly and I laugh at his childishness.

When we're done eating, we head off to my house and start going through my large closet.

"Green's good for golf," Kenny says.

I roll my eyes. "You're just saying that cause it's your favorite color. The thing is, the only green jacket I've got is for baseball. "

He thinks for a while before continuing with what he was doing. "Whatever, munchkin. And I just found it."

"Isn't it a little odd, I mean it's for golf, not for baseball? "

He shakes his head. "No honey, that's what you think but believe me, it's okay."

We finally settled on the jacket and some cool black shorts along with my green all-stars. I must say, it looked pretty good.

I called mom and told her I was spending the night at Ken's so it won't be suspicious when I left the house the next morning. She was okay with it since she had to work late.

The next morning, Leo called me around 7:30 asking to come to pick me up but I politely declined. I mean I didn't mind a free ride but I still needed to prepare and stuff like that.

"You look, hot baby girl. That Leo guy would surely jack off when he sees you." Kenny trailed off with one of his cocky jokes.

I spank his arm. "Pervert."

"That's harsh. I'm not a pervert. I'm just simply being honest, honey." Kenny said innocently. Looks are deceitful. He looks so innocent but he's full of rubbish. "You should get going. It's almost 9. Have a great time sweetheart."

"Thanks a lot. I love you, bro." I said as I walked out the door into the warmth of New York. I hailed a cab and gave him the strange address of the field number. Once I got there, I was beyond shocked at the amount of beautiful black cars parked outside. Wow, it must be full of rich people. I spot Mr. Blacks Lamborghini at a corner. How can I forget the car that almost knocked me down?

"You came, sweetheart." I turned around hearing Leo's voice. "You look so hot.

Might as well play you instead of my game."

We both laughed at his joke as he led me through a dark hallway and into the largest field I've ever seen. But that's not what caught my attention. It was the way everyone stopped whatever they were doing to look at me.

Including Mr. Black.
