Chapter 35: Chapter 35
Sophie's POV ~
I had just managed to get Leo to fall asleep after I had finished feeding him when Thiago came into our room, 6 hours after he slapped me. It was 2am when he finally decided to come upstairs. I scrunched my nose up in disgust at the scent of alcohol which entered the room with Thiago; his eyes were bloodshot and his clothes and hair were disheveled. He was a mess.
"Get out Thiago." He stopped outside the bathroom door and turned around to face me with a raised brow, amusement dancing in his clouded eyes. Thiago didn't get drunk easily, so he must have drank a lot for him to get into this state. He wasn't drunk like falling over and slurring his words level drunk but he wasn't 100% sober either. "What did you say?" I sighed and placed Leo down in his crib so that my voice didn't wake him up.
"Get out. I don't want you around Leo in that state." I gestured towards him for emphasis, this just caused Thiago to let out a callous chuckle, he shook his head and went into the bathroom without saying a word. I rolled my eyes and turned off the lamp next to my bed, I only left a small night light on next to Leo's crib just incase he woke up.
I lay down and closed my eyes as exhaustion took over my body from all the crying and emotional stress that I went through today. I didn't manage to sleep earlier, Leo napped all evening so he was awake when I wanted to sleep and then he was hungry, then I had to change his diaper and now eventually he's fallen asleep which means I can finally sleep. It would mean that in an ideal world anyway. But in this world I have to deal with my intoxicated husband.
As soon as I was on the verge of falling asleep Thiago opened the bathroom door causing a flood of light and steam from the shower to enter our bedroom. I let out a groan and turned away from the light that was shining directly into my eyes but it didn't help at all. Thiago emerged in just a towel and slipped on some boxers before getting into bed next to me after switching off all the lights. I could smell the distractingly fresh scent of his shampoo and shower gel which caused my mouth to water.
I quickly turned away from him before I did anything stupid, something I was known to do. I was still very angry at him but I was just a girl, a weak one at that. When someone as good looking as Thiago lays down next to you clad in just boxers you know it's not going to end well unless you stay strong; which I was trying so hard to do.
A deep chuckle rumbled from Thiago as he got comfortable behind me. "Problem tesoro?" His voice held amusement; he knew exactly what he was doing to me.
"Fuck off Thiago." He let out a 'tsk' sound and turned his body towards me, I felt him place an arm over my waist pulling me back into his chest which was pressed up firmly against my back. He placed a tender kiss behind my ear before whispering to me. "That's not the type of language you should be using around Leo...or me." He tightened his hold on my waist, as he finished his sentence, in an attempt to intimidate me. "Maybe you shouldn't slap me and I won't."
"Maybe you shouldn't piss me off then Sophie. Don't act like you're surprised by it, I'm a mafia leader after all."
"Which also makes you a sick bastard too." His grip intensified and I could literally feel the anger radiating off of him. "Cazzo, dillo di nuovo tesoro, ti sfid" (Fucking say it again tesoro, I dare you.)
I shook my head and tried to get Thiago's arm off me but it wouldn't budge. "Just leave me alone Thiago." He held onto me for a few more seconds before he finally let go. As soon as I was able to, I got out of bed and took Leo into the nursery. I knew he would be fast asleep for the next few hours and I'd be able to hear him on the baby monitor if he woke up. I didn't want to risk waking him up if my 'argument' with Thiago got too heated; especially if Thiago is in this type of mood after he's been drinking. He doesn't know when to stop and I didn't want Leo around him. When I came back inside our room he was sitting up in bed with the lamp on allowing me to clearly see the impressive muscles on his upper body. I glared at him when his eyes met mine causing him to scoff. "Don't give me that look." I ignored him and dropped down in the bed next to him roughly
pulling the covers over me to emphasise the anger I had towards him. I glanced over at Thiago who was watching me with amusement. "Don't look at me."
"You're my wife, I can look at you if I want to."
"I'm not your possession Thiago." He chuckled and shook his head as I picked up my phone to check the time. "Tesoro pass me your phone for a second." I frowned and turned towards him. "Why?"
"I just need to check something." I narrowed my eyes at him in suspicion but passed him my phone anyway, like an idiot. He gripped my phone and got out of bed, I watched his back muscles tense as he walked towards the closet. "Thiago." He ignored me and returned a minute later, without my phone.
"Where is it?" He got back into bed and sent me a glare. "In the safe - which you don't know the code for. When I can fucking trust you again, then you can have it back."
"What the hell are you talking about? Thiago I need my phone." He shook his head and turned towards me, any traces of humour from earlier gone. "I know what you're like Sophie, you're going to do something stupid. So I'm just taking your phone away until I'm sure you won't. In the mean time you can contact me from the house phone or I'll call you on there if I need to speak to you."
"You can't do that! Who the hell do you think you are?" He sent me a smirk and lay down, clearly enjoying the anger and frustration on my face. "Your sick bastard of a husband. Now go to sleep."

"I've got it don't worry." My eyes fluttered open at the sound of Thiago's voice which was deep and thick with sleep. "It doesn't matter how, I said I would get it off her and I did, so shut the fuck up." I glanced over at him to see him propped up on his elbow while rubbing his eyes. His conversation went on for a few more minutes but I couldn't make out what he was saying since he was trying to whisper. He eventually put his phone down and let out a deep sigh while laying back down properly.
"So now you're listening to my conversations?" I turned my head towards him to see him staring up at the ceiling. "You're the one who woke me up." A small whine in the crib next to me caught my attention. I put Leo back in our room when he woke up early this morning, he wouldn't stop crying since it took me longer than usual to get to him. Mostly because Thiago had his arm over me and I couldn't wake him up to let go of me.
I sat up and leaned over towards him giving him a tired smile. "Hey baby. Are you hungry?" Leo currently had that face where you didn't know if he was going to cry or not, it was 50/50 really, he either would or wouldn't. This time he did, very loudly. I quickly got out of bed, not very gracefully may I add and took him out the crib. I held him in my arms whispering to him hoping he would calm down.
I sat down on the bed and lifted my shirt to feed him, although I really didn't want to do it infront of Thiago. I know I shouldn't care and that feeding my baby is more important but when we're arguing I can't help but feel more insecure and shy around him.
I let Leo latch on to my breast before glancing over at Thiago who had an arm over his eyes shielding them from the light flooding in from the open curtains; I couldn't tell if he was sleeping or not. I took the time to admire the bulging muscles and tattoos on his arm. My attention was taken away from my husband when Leo started whining, I shifted him to my other breast and let him continue to feed.
Seconds later Thiago sat up next to me and leaned down towards my chest to kiss Leo's forehead. His eyes met mine and he gave me a small smirk. I rolled my eyes causing him to chuckle, he kissed my cheek even though I did try to pull away from him. Thiago got out of bed and went into the bathroom to brush his teeth before going into the closet to get changed into his suit. By the time he was dressed I was busy walking around the room with Leo who seemed satisfied now that he'd eaten.
"You know my number, call me if you need me. You'll be fine though, I've got more guards outside."
"Why do we need more?" He ignored my question and put his phone, money and car keys into his pocket. "Thiago." Once again he ignored me and I rolled my eyes. "Whatever, don't expect me to forgive you anytime soon if you're going to treat me like this."
"Just be quiet Sophie." He sat down on the bed while untying the laces on his shoes that he took out the closet, causing me to glare at him. "Don't put your shoes on in here. Take them downstairs."
He stopped and let out a sigh before standing up. "Fine." He walked past me and left the room before going downstairs. I rolled my eyes and lay Leo down in the crib. "Be a good boy for 5 minutes while mommy goes to brush her teeth." He cooed at me and I smiled. Once I was done with my morning routine I made my way downstairs carrying Leo with me, I went into the kitchen completely ignoring Thiago and Matteo who were speaking to one another in hushed tones but their conversation stopped when I walked in.
Matteo came over and took Leo from me which I didn't protest against only because I needed to make some breakfast and I couldn't do that while holding my baby. I felt Thiago's eyes on me as I moved around the kitchen preparing breakfast; I originally didn't have the intention of making anything for him but I did because I'm a nice person and although he's a dick, I still love him.
"Here." I slid the plate across the breakfast bar towards him. He mumbled a 'thanks' which I just ignored and turned towards Matteo. "Do you want something?" I tried to ask him nicely but my words came out a lot more harsher then I expected them to, which is probably the reason he declined my offer.
"No thank you." I nodded and made my own breakfast before sitting down as far away from Thiago as I could at the table. I stared eating while watching Matteo talk to Leo about whatever random things he could think of.
I glanced over at Thiago who was busy scrolling through something on his phone, which he had on the table next to his plate. A small smirk made its way onto my face as a plan began to form in my head. I'll make him regret taking my phone off me.
I stood up from my chair and leaned across the table, my hand going towards the carton of orange juice next to Thiago's full glass. I picked up the carton quickly, purposely knocking over the glass in the process. "Oops." Thiago quickly dropped his fork and picked up his phone before standing up to avoid getting any juice on his suit.
He held his wet and sticky black iPhone X in his hand before sending me a murderous glare. "You're fucking ridiculous Sophie. Very mature." I couldn't hold back the giggle that left my mouth at the sight infront of me. He shook his head and went over to the sink to clean his phone which was sadly waterproof so there was no lasting damage.
