Chapter 3: Chapter 3

The sun streaming into the room woke me up out of my deep sleep, I lifted my head to see that Thiago had opened the curtains so the sun was shining directly into the room. I groaned and turned over in the bed so that the sun wasn't shining straight on my face. "There was no need to open the curtains you stupid Italian." I heard him chuckle from wherever he was, probably the closet. I was starting to fall asleep again when I felt something soft hit my head. I sat up to see Thiago staring at me. "Wake up." I rolled my eyes and looked to see he had thrown a cushion at me. "Can't you tell I'm

awake. Anyway it's too early for me to deal with you." He chuckled and sat down at the end of the bed. "It's 1pm" My eyes widened a little when he said this and I glared at him. "Why didn't you wake me up?" He put his hands up defensively. "I tried three times you lazy shit."

"It's not like you've been up all morning have you? You've just taken a shower so clearly you just got up too." I gestured towards his wet hair as he smirked before standing up. "Actually I worked out first then took a shower. I've been up for hours."

"Oh." He shook his head and walked to the door. "You're coming shopping with me, we have no food. Hurry up and get changed." I gave him a sarcastic smile when he looked at me before walking out. Stupid pushy Italian. I quickly got up, went to the bathroom and brushed my teeth before changing my clothes.

I decided to wear more casual clothes since I wasn't in the mood for dressing up. I quickly did my make up and put my sunglasses on before going downstairs.

"Thiago!" I went into the living room to see him sitting on one of the couches looking at his phone. "It's been 40 minutes." I rolled my eyes ignoring the shiver I got from his thick Italian accent. It happens every time.

"Well I'm ready now let's go." His eyes travelled over my outfit and he frowned causing me to smile. He stood up and we made our way out to his glossy black Range Rover Sport, I could hear Thiago mumbling to himself in Italian behind me.

"Seriously why can't you just wear proper clothes?" I sighed and turned to him as he started the car. "I'm sorry I'm not dressed head to toe in Versace, but that's really not my style." I glanced at his black t-shirt and grey jeans. "Plus these are proper clothes, I'm just not filthy rich like some people."

He rolled his eyes and glanced over at me as he drove. "It's not Versace. It's Armani." I scoffed but said nothing else as we drove in silence. Just as we parked the car at the food store Thiago's phone rang. He answered it using the car phone thing and spoke in Italian so I didn't understand a word of what he was saying. As he spoke he became more and more irate, his voice got louder and louder and for once I was actually kind of scared of him. Okay I lied I'm always scared of him I just try not to show it. Eventually he hung up and we sat in silence for a while.

"Is everything okay Thiago?" He sighed and glanced over at me before turning the car back on. "We have to go somewhere else first, we'll come back here after." I decided not to respond since I could tell he was still very angry, something I didn't want to be on the receiving end of.

Twenty minutes later he pulled up to a huge Italian style building in the middle of no where and stopped the car. "You..." He went quite for a moment clearly deep in thought. "Come with me." I instantly shook my head, I knew exactly where we were and there was no way I was going inside. "No thank you, I'm safer here. You go, it's a nice day I'll just stay here alone and admire the scenery.." I gestured towards the window but frowned, my sentence trailing off as I was just staring at a wall and a few trees. He chuckled quietly and took off his seatbelt. "Come on tesoro, you'll be safe with me, don't worry."

I sighed and got out the car and followed him inside. "Stupid irritating Italian." He glanced over at me in amusement as we walked to the main door. "You can't keep saying that, we're in Italy. It's full of Italians." I smiled with fake excitement. "Do you think if I said it inside there someone would kill me already? Then I don't have to put up with you anymore."

He suddenly stopped, his hand shooting out and gripping my arm tightly causing me to stop too. He stepped towards me, all the anger returning. "Don't fucking joke like that Sophie, not here. I'm lenient with you because I'm going to marry you, people in there won't hesitate to kill you for looking at them the wrong way. I can't control someone in there if they feel disrespected by you, they'll kill you before I have a chance to stop them." I nodded trying to look anywhere but him as he released his grip on my arm.

"Are you sure I can't stay in the car?" I glanced over at the building with a sense of worry and foreboding. "No. There's too many idiots here Sophie, I'm not going to risk it. You don't want to know what will happen to you if someone finds you alone." I shook my head and stepped away from feeling myself begin to panic. "Don't make me go inside Thiago." He sighed and stepped towards me, grabbing one of my shaking hands he pulled me closer to him. He leaned down and looked me directly in the eye as he spoke.

"I promise you, you'll be okay. Come on Sophie you slept in a bed with me last night and I don't think you've even realised it yet." He went quiet noticing the look of surprise on my face, he was right I hadn't even thought about it since he wasn't there before I slept or when I woke up.

"See. You slept in a bed with the worst one and you're fine now aren't you? I promise you Sophie, just keep your damn mouth shut and everything will be fine tesoro." I nodded a little still unsure about this whole situation.

"Come on." He held my hand as we walked inside, there were armed men standing inside the little entrance by the front door who I hadn't noticed before. They didn't make eye contact with either of us as we passed, whilst I took off my sunglasses and put them on my head.

The main lobby area was silent, it was decorated in a traditional Italian style with dark wood being the main feature causing the hallway to feel dark and eerie. There was a huge double staircase, and a number of different corridors downstairs. Thiago headed towards the biggest one and we walked through the long hallway passing countless closed doors, I heard a number of sounds from behind the doors too. Talking, shouting, screams and cries in pain and lots of women moaning and screaming. I scrunched my nose up in disgust at the noises as Thiago continued walking, clearly unfazed by them.

We stopped a few doors down from the end of the hallway. "What's down there?" I pointed towards the large double doors at the end of the corridor. "Just another office, it used to belong to Al Capone." My eyes widened and I grabbed Thiago's arm. "Oh my God really? Don't lie!" He laughed at the excitement in my voice. "Shut up of course not, he lived in America." I frowned as he continued to chuckle whilst walking into the room. "You're such a dick."

"Oh for fuck sake. No Thiago. Portala fuori di qui." ( Get her out of here.) My eyes went to the guy sitting behind a desk glaring at Thiago and I. He looked exactly like Thiago just slightly younger and they had a few slight differences, I think he was one of the two men with Thiago in the coffee shop when I first met him.

I frowned in confusion as his glare became more focussed on me. "È una fottuta responsabilità, non puoi portarla qui." ( She's a fucking liability, you can't bring her here.)

The angry guy behind the desk suddenly stood up pointing a gun in my direction, his finger on the trigger.

At exactly the same moment Thiago pulled one out and pointed at the guy. "Metti giù Matteo!" ( Put it down Matteo!)

They stood there like that for few moments, before the guy who I'm assuming is called Matteo finally put his gun down.

I stood still in fear as I held eye contact with Matteo who was glaring at me, a lot more than Thiago does when he's angry. "Are you fucking crazy?" Thiago shouted before turning towards me while I remained frozen, this seemed to anger him even more since he began shouting at Matteo in Italian.

Eventually I finally got over the shock of having a gun pointed at me and I did the only logical thing I could think of at that time. I ran out of the room, completely ignoring all of Thiago's warnings before I came here. But hey you can't judge me too much, don't forget I'm just a regular girl from London who found herself standing in the headquarters of the Italian Mafia after having a gun pointed at her.

"Sophie!" I ignored Thiago who was calling me back and hurriedly walked back the way we came trying to calm my racing heart. I heard footsteps behind me causing me to walk much quicker, I'm not going to lie I genuinely felt like I was in some sort of horror movie with the sounds of people shouting in Italian and the odd screams here and there as I rushed through the hallway with someone right behind me.

Just as I reached the end of the hallway and turned a corner into the main lobby, I felt a hand on my shoulder pulling me back causing me to let out a scream.

"Shh." I looked up my eyes meeting Thiago's furious ones, however as soon as he saw the fear in mine his instantly softened. He pulled me into his chest and I rested my forehead against it whilst wrapping my arms around his waist, and he wrapped his arms around me in return. "You're shaking too much tesoro calm down." I shook my head and tightened my grip on him. "I want to get out of here Thiago."

Before he could respond to me someone else spoke. "Thiago."

I felt Thiago look up at the person who spoke but I didn't turn around. "È lei?" ( Is this her?)

"Sì, ma lei non capisce l'italiano quindi parla inglese." (Yes but she doesn't speak Italian so speak English.)

"Ah okay. Sophie I'm Angelo" Thiago released his hold on me so I did the same. I turned around to see the other guy from the coffee shop giving me a small smile which I tried to return but it didn't really work.

"You can meet her properly another time Angelo. I think we should leave. Can you sort out.." He glanced down at me causing me to roll my eyes. "that thing..with Matteo." Angelo nodded with amusement. "Of course." Thiago nodded before grabbing my hand and dragging me out of the building much to my relief.

"Who was that?" Thiago walked to the car and I could tell he was annoyed about what happened, it was his fault though, he shouldn't have brought me here. "My bestfriend." I nodded silently as we got in the car. "And the guy who tried to kill me?" Thiago tensed and his jaw clenched before he spoke. "My brother." The car was full of tension while we drove back to the food store.

"Sophie hurry the fuck up." I glared at him and adjusted my hair before getting out the car. "You're such an impatient Italian." He groaned at my comment and locked the car before walking ahead of me into the store. We got a trolley and started walking through the different aisles. "Ooh, Thiago."

I didn't wait for him and headed over to the toiletries aisle. I found the hair products and picked up my favourite shampoo and conditioner along with a body wash too. I threw them in the trolley ignoring Thiago's frown.

"What's wrong with the ones we have already?" I scoffed and started walking towards the food section. "I don't want to smell like you." I heard him mumble to himself as we walked through the different aisles. "What's for dinner today?" I turned around and smiled at him. "Don't ask me, I'm not cooking. You are."

"What do you mean I'm cooking? You're going to be doing the cooking, and the cleaning for that matter." I laughed and shook my head at him. "Why? Because I'm a girl?" He rolled his eyes and stepped towards me, we had stopped in the middle of the frozen food aisle.

He pushed me against the freezer and looked down at me, a dark look on his face. "You'll do what I tell you to do. Or there's going to be consequences. Understand?" I scoffed and placed a hand on his muscly chest to push him away but he just pressed himself against me even more preventing me from moving at all. It wasn't in any way sexual for all you dirty minded people out there, he was doing it to intimidate me. And it definitely worked.

"Fine." He moved away and walked over to the checkout area without another word.
