"Leo."
"Leo?" I nodded in response to Thiago's question with a beaming smile on my face which faltered when he shook his head. "It's too English."
"What do you mean it's too English?" He rolled his eyes and leaned back on the couch, his eyes
moving away from me and back to the TV. "It's not Italian enough for the heir of the mafia."
"And Thiago is?" Thiago glared at me and paused the TV before standing up and making his way over to me. "Do you wana say that again?" He rested his hands on my hips causing me to smirk, I opened my mouth to retaliate but a throat clearing behind me interrupted me.
"If you guys are going to be all lovey dovey take it upstairs." I rolled my eyes at Matteo who was frowning at us. "It's my house Matteo." Thiago stepped away from me to look at his brother properly. "And we just finished the nursery for you so you better be nicer than that." Before Thiago could respond I jumped in the conversation with excitement.
"It's finished?" Matteo nodded with a smile and took my hand causing Thiago to growl lowly. "Come on." We walked upstairs to the nursery where I hadn't been allowed to go inside ever since Thiago, Angelo and Matteo started fixing it up for the baby. "I'll show her." I rolled my eyes but smiled at Thiago who possessively grabbed my hand out of Matteo's. "Whatever."
We stopped outside the door where Angelo was waiting for us with a smile on his face, Thiago stood behind me covering my eyes. "Ready?" I nodded unable to contain the excitement I was feeling. The door opened and Thiago moved his hands away from eyes and came to stand next to me. I blinked a couple of times to let my eyes adjust to the light streaming in from the window, my eyes landed on the white crib in the middle of the room with a mobile above it. I looked around at the neat and tidy nursery with a smile on my face, it looked very sophisticated and professional but at the same time it had that homely feel to it with random cute touches which I've been telling Thiago I wanted in the nursery. I didn't expect him to remember every single one never mind actually get them for me but he did.
"You guys did all of this?" I turned around to see Thiago alone smiling at me. "Where did they go?" He stepped towards me and placed his hands on my waist. "They're just giving us some space so that I can do this." He leaned down and pressed his lips to mine causing me to instinctively wrap my arms around his neck. Thiago licked my lower lip and I opened my mouth allowing him to slip his tongue into my mouth. Our tongues fought for dominance but Thiago quickly won causing him to smirk into the kiss. Eventually we pulled away from each other and I struggled to catch my breath while Thiago didn't even seem to be affected in the slightest.
"Thank you for all of this." I glanced around the room again admiring the small thoughtful details that they had included. "You're welcome tesoro." Thiago moved his hands from my hips to my large baby bump causing a smile to stretch across his face. "You know I'd do anything for Leo." My eyes instantly met his and he gave me a cheeky grin. "I love the name by the way."
"But you said-" He rolled his eyes and got down on his knees infront of me. "I was joking. I really do love it, it's perfect. As soon as he arrives I'm going to protect him with my life, I'll go to the ends of the earth to make my baby boy happy. To make you happy." He looked up from my bump to look into my watery eyes. "I love you both so much."
Our attention was quickly drawn to the strong kick in my stomach directly under his hand causing a gasp to leave my mouth. Thiago's slightly red eyes met mine once again clouded with concern. Even though Leo responds to Thiago's touch almost every time, it always makes him emotional because Leo only kicks when Thiago touches my bump or when he speaks close to it.
"Are you okay?" I shook my head just as another strong kick occurred followed by another. I frowned and placed my hand on my bump but it didn't calm the frantic movements I was feeling inside of me. "He's just moving a lot. That's all." Thiago quickly stood up, panic taking over his features. "Let's go to the hospital. I'll drive. Hang on you need some clothes don't you? Wait, we have a bag by the door Sophie, don't worry. Now let me just get Carlotta." I rolled my eyes as he frantically looked around the room for who knows what because he didn't actually need anything from the nursery, everything we needed was in my hospital bag downstairs. I placed my hand on his forearm to stop him with a small smile on my face.
"I'm fine. Let's just wait a bit, he's fine. Aren't you my baby?" I rubbed my bump and I felt Leo squirm a little before settling down again. I nodded reassuringly Thiago who didn't seem convinced. I leaned up and pecked his lips before looking around the nursery properly at all the cute baby clothes we had bought, the few toys we had and the selection of baby bottles, linens, diapers and other necessities.
"What's that for?" I pointed at an empty photo frame on the wall before looking over at Thiago who still seemed to be struggling to calm down from the scare he just had. "Its a surprise and yes I know you hate surprises but I don't care." I rolled my eyes at him and sighed before walking over to the door. "I'm going to sit down. I want my food now Thiago."
"Do I look like a damn servant?" I stopped in my tracks and turned to face him with that
look. Eventually he sighed and nodded causing a triumphant smirk to stretch across my face. "Only because you're pregnant."

The weird feeling in my tummy hadn't stopped all day, it was beginning to get more and more intense as the night went on. I let out a groan and glanced over at Thiago who was fast asleep on the couch across from me. I was sitting next to Carlotta but she went upstairs to sleep ages ago. Matteo and Angelo decided to go out for the evening, I tried to convince Thiago to go with them but he shot me down straight away. Not literally, he hasn't tried to do that for months now, just verbally this time.
"Thiago." He didn't move at the sound of my voice, he was completely exhausted whereas once again I was wide awake. I sighed and slowly stood up feeling Leo shuffle slightly inside me in response to my sudden movement after laying on the couch for hours after Thiago showed me the nursery.
"If you weren't pressing on my bladder so much, I wouldn't need to disturb you now would I?" I mumbled to my bump as I slowly trudged towards the bathroom downstairs. After doing my business I wondered around the kitchen unsure of what to do next. It gets pretty boring being awake all night, especially when all I do stay in the house all day anyway. It's not like I have anything new to do here.I opened the patio door in the kitchen and stepped out into the cool night time air. I took a deep breath enjoying the cool breeze. "I hope you come soon baby. I miss my sleep." I smiled down at my bump before sighing. I stood outside for a while enjoying the fresh air and peace and quiet before eventually deciding to go back inside. Just as I turned around I felt a sharp pain in my stomach, my hand went straight to my bump as I hunched over. I took a deep breath trying to calm my sudden racing heart, I tried to feel if Leo was moving but through the pain and my intense heartbeat I couldn't feel him. I felt panic rise up in me as tears welled up in my eyes.
"Thiago!" I screamed as loud as I could just as another sharp pain shot straight through my stomach causing me to become light headed. I screamed for him again and seconds later he was infront of me. "Sophie?"
"I need to go to the hospital. Now!" He nodded and gently guided me through the house, I faintly heard him call Carlotta who groggily came down the stairs but as soon as she saw me she was wide awake. "Hurry up, I need your help." She nodded at Thiago and slipped on her shoes before grabbing my hospital bag and helping me out to the car with Thiago.
We drove to the hospital in silence, I was in too much pain to even think about anything else other than Leo. I gripped Thiago's hand tightly in mine and he helped me out the car when Carlotta pulled up to the hospital. She called for a doctor and straight away I was in a wheel chair being taken to the delivery room.
"Thiago please don't leave me." He gave me a reassuring smile as the nurse helped me onto the bed. "I'm not going anywhere tesoro." At the sound of the door we both turned to see that Carlotta had just come inside. "Matteo and Angelo are on the way." I nodded just as another pain surged through me. "What's happening to my baby?" The older nurse smiled kindly at me and rubbed my shoulder. "Your almost ready to give birth." I frowned and shook my head at her, there was no way that was possible.
"N-no that's not right. I'm not due for another three weeks. My water hasn't broken yet.." She shook her head at me whilst she hooked me up to the machines to monitor my heart beat. "It doesn't always go to plan I know. Your water doesn't have to break, you'll be okay though sweetheart."
I shook my head as tears welled up in my eyes, panic over took me and I struggled to breathe properly when I felt my chest tighten. "Thiago...I need to get out of here." He gently took my hand and rubbed circles on the back of it with his thumb to calm me down. "You're okay baby. Trust me tesoro. I know this isn't how you wanted it to happen, and our doctors and nurses won't be here but you're in good hands I promise." Thiago kissed my forehead and held me in his arms for a few minutes whilst everyone was rushing around us trying to get prepared for my sudden arrival. Thiago sat in the chair next to my bed staying by my side where he helped me breathe through what I now know were contractions.
"Sophie please open your legs so I can see how far you are." I was about to open my legs for the doctor but a growl next to me stopped me. I glanced up at Thiago next to me who was glaring at the male doctor. "No." I shook my head at his immaturity and tried to open my legs but Thiago placed his hand on my thigh to stop me.
"I want a female doctor." I glared at Thiago who's eyes were focussed on the doctor infront of us. "Sir, trust me I'm the best you'll get for now. Your wife could be minutes away from giving birth, just trust me, I'm a doctor."
Thiago eventually reluctantly let go of my thigh and placed his hand back in mine. I kissed his hand giving him a small smile knowing he wasn't happy about me having a male doctor. What he did annoyed me but I know he's just very possessive, and this was a hard time for us both."She's almost fully dilated. We'll need to get the baby out now." I frowned at the diagnosis from the doctor and turned to Thiago. "I'm not ready Thiago." His grip tightened on my hand and he kissed my cheek. "Yes you are. In a few minutes you'll be able to hold him for the first time. That's all you've been talking about for the last 8 and a half months, you're ready baby." I took a deep breath and nodded, my eyes met Carlotta's across the room and she gave me an encouraging smile.
