Chapter 15: Chapter 15
Sophie's POV ~
Two long hours later we finally paid the check and left the restaurant. I hugged Sara goodbye and gave Lorenzo a small smile, I didn't really get to speak to him much since he and Thiago were busy catching up. Thiago grabbed my hand and we went our separate ways, we walked hand in hand and I glanced over at Thiago who was staring at the floor as he walked. "You don't have to hold my hand I'm not going to run away from you Thiago."
"It's not that, I just want to make sure you're safe." He didn't speak very loudly but I managed to make out what he said, I was surprised he didn't come out with some rude comment instead. I didn't say anything else to him and we walked in a comfortable silence down the waterside where there was a huge line of restaurants, it was pretty busy for the late afternoon but it was a Saturday so people probably had plans to go out later. "Are you tired?" I glanced over at Thiago who was looking at me with a raised brow, I shook my head in response. "No I'm fine, why?"
"Let's do something." We stopped walking and I leaned against the rail by the water, looking out at the glistening sea. "I don't particularly want to spend anymore time with you Thiago."
"Would you rather go back to the house and spend the rest of the night in our room?" I shook my head straight away, I did that last night and trust me it wasn't nice to be alone all evening in a house full of people who hate me. "Good, come with me." Making sure not to leave me behind he grabbed my hand and started walking again, we walked at my pace since my foot was still in a cast.
We finally made it to the car, Thiago made a quick phone call in Italian before he drove to wherever he was planning to go. We listened to the radio whilst we drove, the journey took quite a while before Thiago finally parked the car at a boat harbour. "Come on." We got out the car and walked to one of the offices where Thiago collected a set of keys, I followed him as walked through rows and rows of boats before coming to a stop infront of a yacht. "This is my family's yacht." It was massive, it had two floors and a huge deck with a hot tub and sun loungers, it was amazing.
Thiago got on first and I climbed up behind him, he helped me up onto the boat, because of my ankle I couldn't climb properly. We both went into the control area and put on our sunglasses since the sun was so bright at this time in the afternoon; Thiago drove the yacht out of the harbour and we drove away from the main island of Sicily for about twenty minutes. Whilst Thiago drove the boat I went out onto the deck enjoying the feeling of the air whipping around me in the heat. I watched the island get further and further away from us and the rocky mountains and landscape became a distant figure on the horizon.
After a while Thiago stopped the yacht and came out onto the deck with me. I sat down on a sun lounger whilst he went over to an ice box and pulled out a large bottle of champagne which is probably why he made a phone call earlier so that someone could put that in the ice box for us. "Do you want this or something else?"
"No that's fine." He nodded and grabbed two glasses before sitting down next to me. Thiago opened the bottle with ease and poured me a drink, he handed me my glass and poured his own. "Thank you." We sat quietly for a moment before Thiago broke the silence. "I'm sorry." I was thankful I was wearing my sunglasses because they managed to cover the complete shock on my face.
"What?" Thiago looked down at his glass when he spoke again. "What I did yesterday and how I spoke to you today, I was wrong to do that." I leaned back on the sun lounger and took a sip of champagne trying to keep myself calm, it would have been a perfect moment if I wasn't about to have a tense conversation with Thiago.
"Do you think that by just bringing me here and apologising to me I'll just forgive you and move on Thiago?" He sighed and leaned back on the sun lounger aswell whilst shaking his head. "I don't know Sophie, I don't know what I think I just know I needed to say sorry to you. I was a dick to you, and you're right you've been faithful to me during all of it and I don't deserve that." I looked over at him and shook my head in disbelief.,"You were more than just a dick Thiago! You weren't even that horrible to me when we first met. You strangled me and then you found it funny when I couldn't breathe, you called me ugly-" Thiago suddenly stood up and glared at me. "I know what fucking happened Sophie. But you shouldn't have pushed me that far, you know exactly who I am and what I'm like when I get angry."
"You keep forgetting that I'm not made for this life like you are Thiago. You act like it's easy for me to just adapt to being surrounded by angry people and to just accept it, but you've lived your whole life like this, around angry, short tempered people who will flip at you any second, I haven't." I put my glass down on the table and stood up next to Thiago, frustration running through me.
"I hate worrying about you everyday even though I hate you so much, I hate thinking one of us could be killed at any second. You didn't think about all this before you forced me to marry you, someone like your ex-fiancée Antonia is perfect for you because all she wants is to be around dangerous people like you and Kaito, I don't. I just want to know I'm safe and that you're safe and that you won't get hurt." At the mention of Antonia being his ex-fiancée Thiago looked a little caught off guard he probably didn't expect me to know that but I made to sure to let him know that I was aware he lied to me once again; he told me she was just his ex not that they were planning to get married.
Thiago didn't respond to me, I was surprised I had managed to keep my emotions under control for once, I knew this was one of the only times I would be able to tell him exactly how I felt without him running off somewhere since we were on a boat in the middle of nowhere.
"This life wasn't meant for me Thiago. I hate it, I just stay at home all the time because nothing is safe, it's horrible." Thiago just stared at me, his eyes hidden by his sunglasses; I couldn't tell what he was thinking or how he felt, from what I could see of his face I couldn't make out his emotions.
"Sophie...I can't change any of it. That's just how it is; it's dangerous for you to be with me, but I promise you're protected just as much as the rest of my family and you don't have to worry about me. I can take care of myself." Thiago went quite for a moment before he finished talking. "As soon as you can speak Italian you can start teaching in Milan."
"Really? But you-" Thiago cut me off. "I know what I said Sophie, but I don't want you to feel like that, there's not much I can do about it though. This is how I live and how you live now. If teaching makes you happy then I'm not going to stop you. I'll just have to make sure you're always protected, and you'll need to learn how to use a gun."
I couldn't help the smile that stretched across my face and I surprised Thiago by wrapping my arms around him. "Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!" He chuckled and wrapped his arms around me in return. "I really am sorry Sophie." I nodded against his chest before pulling away from him. "I can't forgive you yet Thiago, you've hurt me too many times already, but we can try and move on I suppose."
"Are you going to push me away again if I try and kiss you?" From the way he spoke I could tell he was still annoyed about what happened at the beach, but he was more annoyed with my response now. "Of course I will. Thiago I trusted you and I gave you everything; my first kiss and my virginity-" Thiago frowned and cut me off.
"Your first kiss?" I nodded trying to hide the blush on my cheeks but it didn't work. "Yeah...but you broke my heart and my trust Thiago, I can't just get over that so easily. I tried once to make this marriage work and you ruined it within in a bloody week." Thiago shook his and started pacing around the deck making sure not to look at me. "I promise I'll never do it again Sophie, you're my wife and you'll be the only woman I ever look at again." "Don't make promises you can't keep Thiago. Like you said you think I'm ugly, there's so many more beautiful girls who you could meet and just-" Thiago stormed over to me cutting off my sentence. "You're fucking beautiful Sophie! You're the most beautiful girl I've ever met, fuck everyone else, I only want you. Everything about you is gorgeous; your smile, your eyes, even when you're pissed off which is all the time you're still fucking stunning, your body is perfect-" His eyes travelled over my body as a blush and small smile took over my face. "- every single thing about you is beautiful, inside and out."
Thiago stepped towards me and took my hand gently. "I'm sorry Sophie, for everything." I stared at my husband, only the sound of the water around us could be heard as we stood in silence on the boat staring at each other. "Thiago.."
He nodded and took my other hand too holding both of them on either side of us. "I know you can't forgive me yet, but at least tell me there's a chance you will soon."
"I don't know if I will anytime soon, I'm not going to say yes if there's a chance you could go back to cheating on me or lying to me."
Thiago sighed and took of his sunglasses, he tossed them on the sunlounger before running a hand over his face. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you about Antonia being my fiancée-" I cut Thiago off to add something else. "You didn't tell me she was friends with Carlotta either." He rolled his eyes and nodded.
"Yeah and that. I just didn't want you to think there was anyway I would ever have feelings for her again, I didn't propose to her Sophie. I don't know how but it just kind of happened, she started saying things like 'we should get married' and then she started telling people that we were and the next thing I knew she chose a ring and we bought it."
I looked away from him at the endless sea when he spoke about her, I didn't want to think about Antonia and Thiago together. I felt Thiago's finger and thumb on my chin as he moved my face so that I was looking at him again.
"I know our relationship is fucked up, but just give me a chance to make it up to you, you don't have to forgive me now, just give me a chance." I looked into his eyes and I knew he was being sincere, I knew there was a chance he could hurt me again and he probably would, that's why I won't forgive him anytime soon and he will have to work hard to earn it, but I couldn't stay angry at him especially after everything he said to me.
"Okay. But if you ever do anything to upset me again Thiago we're done, no more chances." Thiago chuckled and leaned closer to me so that he could whisper in my ear. "Tesoro you couldn't leave me even if you wanted to." I rolled my eyes behind my sunglasses but smiled nonetheless. "You're so annoying."
He nudged me back toward the sun loungers and we both sat back down and drank the champagne, the sun had began to set in the distance so I took off my sunglasses and put them into my handbag. "You're so fucking perfect." I glanced over at Thiago who was staring at me, a small smirk on his face. I looked away from him and at the view to hide my red cheeks.
"How much did you drink at the restaurant Thiago?" He chuckled and I looked over at him in time to see him lean back, the sun was shining directly on him making his naturally tanned skin glow. "Hardly anything, you drank more than I did."
"I was drinking water, you drank wine and ordered more alcohol after. You must be drunk, that's probably why you said all that stuff just now." He groaned in annoyance and looked up at the sky, his adam's apple bobbed up and down whilst he thought to himself.
"I'm not drunk Sophie, I wouldn't have driven the car if I was drunk or the boat and if I was drunk I would have tried to kiss you by now." I looked over at him to see him smirking at me. "Shut up." After a few minutes Thiago stood up and came over to my sun lounger. "Let's get in the hot tub." "Thiago I don't have a bikini." He rolled his eyes and took my hand pulling me up. "Don't worry, I've seen it all before." I scoffed and shook my head at him ready to argue but he just dragged me over to the hot tub, I tried to resist but he's in the mafia; he's way stronger than I will ever be.
"Hurry up." He started taking off his clothes starting with his shirt and like an idiot I just stood there and watched him. My eyes trailed over his perfectly sculpted upper body causing him to smirk arrogantly. " This isn't a show Sophie." He laughed to himself before stepping closer to me, with only his jeans on. "Although it could be if you wanted it to be." I glared at him and pushed him back, I pulled off my top leaving me in my black lace bra. I knew he was watching me and this caused my confidence to increase even more for some reason. I slipped off my one shoe due to my ugly black cast (black goes with everything) and I also slipped off pants knowing I wasn't wearing any panties due to the spilt in the leg of my pants.
I heard Thiago mumble something to himself when I took off my bra and walked towards the steps of the hot tub, I felt his stare glued to me as I got into the water, trying my best to keep my ankle resting on the side of the hot tub like I did in the bath to stop it getting wet. I looked over at a wide eyed Thiago giving him a sweet smile. "Can you pass me my glass please? And bring the bottle with you."
