Chapter 70: Chapter 70

Miatta

Luke escorted me to the dark room and I was panting like a dying horse. Blood pumped in my ear and my heart rate quickened of its own accord. I could barely control my steps and my eyes kept sliding short. In all my life, I had lived with my brothers and so, I had never seen a wolf in heat. Perhaps I would have known what to do and how to react to the whole phase. Goddess knows my mother had probably only copulated to bear children. Imagining her beneath my father brought on some waves my body was not ready to handle at the moment.

“Um..Luke..I –I can't go on. I need to sit down.” I was feeling drowsy and I sat down on a rock. The night was still dark and no one could see us unless they made use of their harnessed adaptations. Moreover, the stone statues of past Lycans Kings and the evergreen trees were enough coverage for us.

“No. No, Miatta. I need to get you back to your room. You are in heat and I don't want to defile you even though you would really want me to. It’s like an instinct, just like breathing. When you are in heat, you would want a male to...to help you out and trust me, I am not that male, okay? So, here's what you are going to do: you are going to have a good night's rest and tomorrow morning, you are going to report yourself to your group leader, alright? She would know what to do.”

He smelled so good like oranges, plants and the woods. I wanted him closer and his words were not catching on. I felt a swell in my breasts and my body craved for something it had never had. He groaned in frustration and threw me on his shoulders in one attempt. I held on tight so I wouldn't fall off him while he walked swiftly and I subtly rubbed myself on him. That was better, so much better. The almost transparent material of my attire allowed my nipples to gather friction from his clothing and I needed contact of some sort. He noticed, swatting my behind with his big palm and I buckled in reaction to the stinging pain. Strangely, I wanted him to do it again and I rubbed harder. He obliged me and a moan escaped my lips, exposing my hidden motive.

He stood at the door of the slave enclosure, throwing me away from himself. I could see him shaking, such a big man troubled by a little thing like me in comparison. His hands held on to his head and he gave me some noticeable distance. Our scents had mixed together, a cacophony of torment. The air seemed thinner than normal and my throat was dry as well.

“This was not supposed to happen. I made a mistake,” he was muttering to himself. “Just stop it, Miatta! I can't take it. If I touch you, there is no going back. I won't be able to stop myself and you would be powerless to stop it either. Pull the damned plug!”

“I can't! It was you who touched me so this is your fault. I don't know how to turn it off. It's like someone is using my body for me.” My skin crawled and I clawed at unseen opponents. My wolf was in a similar turmoil, whimpering and whining. I couldn't help either of us sadly. Luke grabbed me by the arms and pulled me to eye level with him.

“I said, pull the plug, Miatta!” he commanded in a growl that gave no room for mutiny. My shaking ceased and my darkened eyes cleared. His scent was still very much profound but it was driving me crazy anymore. Then I realized: only Alphas could command another wolf into submission. They were the supreme wolves and their word was law. There could only be two Alphas in a pack; the Supreme Alpha and the Potential Alpha, that is, the next in line. Before my mind could task itself any further, he whispered another command in my ear:

“Close your eyes, Miatta and go to bed.” I drifted off immediately.

The next day was normal. The collar was back on my neck, everyone was getting cleaned up before heading off to fulfill their duties and well, Yvette was Yvette. Her voice could be heard from miles away, where she was scolding a young girl. The latter had greeted Yvette without curtsying and that was the crux of the hullabaloo. She held Irina by the ears, pinning her to her knees and the girl weeped out loud with no one coming to her rescue. I stopped at the scene of the abuse and shook my head in disgust.

“Got something to say, Miatta? I thought that collar would manage to tame you a little. I see that it did.”

I really wanted to say something in Irina’s defence but I didn't want to cause more trouble. I had given my word to Addy and I would stand by it no matter how hard Yvette pushed.

“I have nothing to say, Prefect,” I humbly replied and curtsied briefly. Yvette let Irina go at last, slapping her thigh dramatically. She grinned widely, walking around me in a circle. I held my breath, never letting her out of my sight for a second. I wasn't afraid of her though but the man whose heart she had captured. She stopped behind me and I could sense her unwanted presence.

“You could be of good use to me, Miatta. I could grant you some privileges due to you when you become my sidekick that even Addy cannot conjure up for you. I could put your talents to good use.” She gently picked the tail of my ponytail, applying some pressure on my scalp. My thoughts sped up as I recognized what she was trying to do. She wanted me on her side for some reason but I needed to know why. When I did not reply in time, she pulled hard on my ponytail to get my attention.

“I'll give you some time to think about my offer. I will like your answer by the end of the day.”

She waltzed off, head high in self-importance. My group was getting ready to leave for the kitchen when I ran into Addy.

“So what did she really want?” she immediately asked, cornering me to a side. Her hair was in a ponytail again, shining boldly in the morning light.

“Who?”
