Chapter 36: Chapter 36
Burning tears seared my eye sockets and poured like streams down my cheeks as I stood naked in front of the mirror looking at my reflection. It made me start to cry as I couldn't recognize myself anymore.
My arms, belly, back region, and legs all had red stripes, which blemished my skin and made them so ugly and sore. Due to how much I was starving, my healing ability had diminished so badly that it now takes 24 hrs for a single wound to heal.
Pain was blazing my body like a lake of fire, which left me with no strength to dress up. That whip was like a nightmare as it hurts deep into my bone marrow and even causes my skin to bleed, but I don't think Nana cares.
Aurora, who I thought was my problem, doesn't disturb me anymore, and it just seems like she handed power over to Nana, who has become crueller than she was.
My eyes went to the slave mark around my neck, and I felt a sharp ache in my heart, recalling that it was my father who turned me into this. He really made his daughter a slave to someone else and doesn't care if I am alive or not.
I shut my eyes and took a deep breath, trying to calm myself down, but it wasn't working. Anger mixed with hatred for my father was building up at a fast pace inside me. In a flash, I saw that vision I had back then when I was tormented by the wolfsbane and silver.
My mother really told me that I was the hope of this pack?? She made it clear that I was the one to save them from the demons.
Am I a joke to them all?
How could she think I'd ever help this pack after what they've done to me? My father had made my life hell since I came into this world, but at the end, I was expected to save them?
I could remember crying in that vision after seeing this pack destroyed! Maybe that was in the past for me, because right now, I don't give a damn if they all perish.
I opened my eyes and stared back at my horrible reflection, and I felt a twinge in my heart again as more tears flooded down.
Just then, the door of my room gave way without a knock, making me turn sharply while wrapping my hand over my bare boobs and woman part.
At first, I thought it was Nana who had come in to check if I was done preparing for school, but on swirling to the door, I saw my wicked father standing there with a sneer, three guards flanking him and feeding their eyes with my naked body.
"What are you hiding? That cursed body?" he snorted, walking closer with his face cold and void of any emotions other than hatred and disgust.
"You are the father of the cursed body, so I hope you know you're also cursed " I retorted, as his words hit me harder than I could bear. It was my plan to talk back angrily to him, but seeing how he allowed the guards to stay and watch me naked, and how he called me cursed with a disgusting look, anger took the larger part of me.
My words made him pause his pace for a few seconds before he burst into a short croaky laughter, which I joined immediately. He saw me laughing too and was shocked.
"How dare you?" His voice was filled with venom now and his Alpha aura filled the air, forcing fear on the guards but not me anymore.
Normally, I would have frozen in great fear, especially as he was closer to me and could punch me to death, but I was just tired of fretting and shivering all the time.
"Take a look at your daughter, you heartless soul, do you think you're doing my mother a favour by treating her so badly? Your dumb head really thinks you're taking revenge on her by making my life miserable. How stupid can you be?" I yelled back and laughed again.
One of his guards attacked me with a heavy punch that made me crash heavily on the floor.
"You must be mad to yell at the Alpha!!" he shouted at me, but I maintained my laughter while cupping my bleeding lips.
"He is your alpha, but my father. I fucking came into this miserable world because of him... My crime was surviving the death that took my mother and brother. I can't believe my mother had this dumb man as her mate. She must regret it now!" I sneered, sitting up and making sure I was looking straight at my father while talking.
"You still have the strength to talk!" Another guard growled, and they were about to ambush me, but my father stopped them with a raised hand.
"I think I admire your courage. It reminds me of my mate who you killed." My father spoke to me with a lopsided smile.
"It's funny of you to still call her your mate when she hates you so much now. You disgust her for treating her only daughter in this manner, and you will never know who killed your mate and heir to the throne until you come to your senses. Keep acting blindly, and you will perish." I huffed and laughed.
I was recalling that vision of how his neck was slit by the demon and how the pack was destroyed and burnt down.
There was absolute silence and tension in the air as my father stared at me with confusion written all over his face.
"What do you mean?" he asked under his breath, staring into my eyes like I had grown two heads.
"Do you really want to hear the truth now? Are you ready to listen to me? I thought you preferred hearing everything from Aurora, Nana, and that witch who appeared from nowhere on that full moon night?" I hissed and rolled over to my bed, picking up my pants, which I wore slowly to avoid tampering with my sore body.
They all stood there silently till I was done dressing, which was so surprising, especially my father. It seemed like my words were really getting at him this time.
"Ava, do you really know who killed my mate and son?" My father asked with a soft tone, and I was stunned to hear such a question from him, and what shocked me the most was the calm expression on his face.
His harsh tone was gone, and his eyes, which always conveyed deep resentment each time he looked at me, weren't that way anymore.
"Alpha, the sorcerer from the vampire kingdom has arrived." Aurora's voice broke in at that moment, and we all turned to the door where she was. Immediately, her eyes met mine, and I felt a chill at the evil I felt from it.
"Oh..." Dad breathed, and nodded, turning back to me.
"He had been waiting for you for a long time. No one knew you were here and we had been looking for you. He is about to leave..." Aurora pressed on.
"I called him to perform magic and find out what and who really killed my mate and unborn son, but Ava has something interesting to say." Dad muttered under his breath, resting his gaze on me.
"You rather want to hear from the suspected killer herself? Don't tell me you suddenly want to hear her lies!" Aurora exclaimed, with raised brows, drawing my father's attention back to her.
"As usual, she is here to stop you from hearing the truth. You can keep choosing to listen to her as always." I shrugged and turned back to the mirror, packing my scattered and messy hair into a bun, using a rubber band to tie it.
Aurora interjected immediately, "Alpha, please don't miss this opportunity. That man is known to be very powerful and will find out who really killed your mate. Ava is only trying to hold you back so you won't find the real truth from that sorcerer."
I was looking at my father through the mirror, and it seemed Aurora had won him over again with her words, as usual. He ignored me and began to walk out of the room with her.
