Chapter 18: Chapter 18
Aurora's POV
The smile on my face couldn't just leave as I made my way to the Beta's house. I could feel the thump of excitement hitting inside my heart, forcing me to increase my pace. At some point, I found myself giggling.
The fact that I still had the hope of destroying Ava couldn't stop making me feel giddy. I felt like dancing as my adrenaline flowed faster.
Ava must think she is winning after seeing the Alpha treat me that way. For real, she must be feeling on top of the world now and has even got the courage to talk back to me. Now, I'll be fighting back in a way she never expected.
After what seemed like eternity due to my eagerness, I was finally in front of the Beta's house, standing on the porch as I took deep breaths.
Just as I was about to knock on the door, I overheard something that drew my attention.
"Mom, I love the Lycan prince and I hate Ava because he asked about her when I visited their kingdom with the Alpha. It just seemed like he was more interested in her." That was the voice of the Beta's daughter.
Silently, I drew my ears closer to hear more. Maybe I just found what I had been looking for.
"The Lycan prince has no heart to love. You are just worried for nothing." Her mother replied.
"I know that, but what if he sees her one day and...."
"That is not possible. You are the Beta's daughter, while she is a curse to the land " Her father's reply came in, and I didn't know when I pushed the door open without knocking.
The excitement inside me was so much that I forgot to knock and barged in impulsively, which made everyone turn on me with panic at first, as they thought it was an attack. But as they saw me, they all sighed in relief.
"What is happening? Are you being chased?" The Beta shot at me as he hurried to lock the door.
"No, I am here to help her." I responded, exhaling as a bright smile slipped across my lips. The Beta's mate, who had clung to her daughter in protection when I barged in, finally released her and sneered at me.
"You want to help me for what? Did I tell you I needed help with anything?" Nana spoke out with a surprise look.
"What are you talking about?" Her mother added, and I smiled again, taking a seat on the chair in front of them.
"Have you ever thought of being the princess in place of Ava? And you mentioned the Lycan prince. Don't you think, as the Beta's daughter, your chances are so small? It can only be more possible when you're abducted as the Alpha's foster daughter," I grinned, each word carefully chosen to persuade them.
There was a dead silence that struck the room after my speech as everyone stared at me with wide eyes and gaping mouths. They seemed shocked and were processing my words in their heads.
"Nana..." I called her and she flinched a bit before answering.
"You love the Lycan prince, and you aren't a princess. Ava is a princess as long as no one has replaced her, so to have a higher chance of getting the Lycan prince, you need to take her position." I said with a sharp tone, making sure it struck her deep.
They all went mute, looking at each other one after the other as they contemplated my words.
"I don't think I can accept this. I am more than capable of taking care of my only daughter, and the alpha knows this. What lie will I tell him to make him accept taking her in?" The Beta frowned, peering at me.
"Yes, there must be a very good reason before the alpha will agree. And even if she is abducted, no one will see her as the Alpha's daughter. She will still be referred to as the Beta's daughter unless the alpha announces it himself that he takes her as his daughter in place of Ava" The Beta's mate added, and I could see disappointment in the eyes of Nana.
"They are right." Nana mumbled with wet eyes.
"The Alpha will take in Nana and make her his daughter, but it only depends on us. The more we make him hate Ava, the more he considers her. But the truth remains that he can't take her in while you both are still here." I shrugged.
"You mean we should run away or what? Or do you want us to kill ourselves just to make the Alpha take her in?" The Beta snorted.
"No, there are other ways to get what we want." I replied with a reassuring smile, which made Nana exhale in relief.
"Please tell us. Help me live with the Alpha and become the princess so I can have a better chance with Jaden, the Lycan prince" she pleaded with a whiny voice, and I faced her parents, who were giving me a strange stare.
"You both will leave this night to hunt and never return. Find a place to hide. When the Alpha launches a search, he won't leave Nana here, but take her in. In two days, you return with a lot of lies to tell the Alpha, which will force him to keep Nana with him forever." I smirked.
"What is all this? I am getting more confused! Why are we doing all this? You just came here with this plan suddenly. There is something you aren't telling us. You can't come here suddenly to make these plans without having a hidden motive!" The Beta huffed, standing up from his chair.
"I am doing this because I don't like Ava, just like everyone. Everyone saw what the Alpha did to me because of Ava. He slapped me without hesitation. This could mean that he will soon develop feelings for the murderer, Ava. We can only divert his attention away from her by providing him with a perfect substitute, which is your daughter, " I explained, and it just seemed like I had finally found the right words.
"You are very right!" The Beta exclaimed, laughing happily as he nodded.
"Yes, I get her point. Thank you for this great idea!" The Beta's mate added, and Nana couldn't hold her happiness as she jumped in glee.
"When you return from your hiding place, just tell the alpha that you were kidnapped by some masked werewolf and they told you they would hunt your daughter down. Then, with a full bow, beg the alpha to keep her, as we know the royal pack is the safest place. So simple, " I concluded with a short laugh.
"Wow, this is really good. My daughter will be highly respected and, not only that, the Alpha will have no choice but to appoint me as the next Alpha." The Beta mused, displaying his set of teeth in a wide grin.
"Nana, once you get into the Royal pack, treat Ava like your greatest enemy. Bully her and make sure the alpha keeps hating her and loving you. You know why? She is a threat to you and your family. If you succeed in making life terrible for her and she commits suicide, then your father can succeed as the next Alpha and you will be safe. If you fail, she will become the next Alpha and make you suffer." I warned Nana and her parents nodded.
"Yes, she is right, my daughter. Don't give her a breathing space, but don't lie to the Alpha so he doesn't hate you." The Beta added, and she nodded.
"Leave all that for me. No one hates Ava more than me, and with this opportunity, I'll give her a hellish moment of her entire life!" Nana stated, with a lopsided smile as her eyes glinted with resentment.
"I'll be leaving now before my absence is noticed." I rounded it up as I stood up and bowed.
"Thank you," they all appreciated in unison as I made my way out, feeling so much joy in me. Ava won't know what hit her. Just when she thinks she has defeated me, I am back in another form. She must end her life herself so her dead mother will feel more anguish.
After Ava's death, the next will be the Alpha before the demons finally infiltrate the entire pack and rule over everyone. At that time, Selene will know that I, Aurora, am not someone she will mess with.
As she cursed me to become this useless without a mate or happiness, I'll also turn everything she loved into ruins.
