Chapter 16: Chapter 16
Carl's POV
It was almost getting dark in the night when I stepped out of my room and crept to the door of Jaden's room. I knew it was wrong to peep on the prince, but I couldn't resist it. I needed to be sure if he actually has interest in Ava. I have to know if he thinks of her in anyway.
Just as expected, the moment I peeked into his room through the key hole, I saw him. He was movihg to and fro in confusion, brooding in an unusual manner. My sharp ears could also catch the sound of his lips muttering the name, Ava, repeatedly.
My lips curled into a smile as I saw it all and I almost laughed when he began to shake his head roughly in attempt to get her off his mind.
For many years, I had been the prince's personal messenger, the one closest to him after his parents. I know him quite well, and that shaking of the head shows something was taking over his mind.
Could it mean that the prince is thinking a lot about Ava?
Wow...
"What the hell are you peeping at!!" I heard an angry yell from behind and cringed in panic, hovering around to see the Alpha staring at me in confusion.
"No, no, I..." My head was bent as I tried to find the right words to say, but fear was making my head blank.
"You are peeping on my son? For real?" He flared and I swallowed hard, trying to bottle my fear a bit so I wouldn't fall. His aura was intimidating and I dreaded a single hit, which was very likely to break my bone. The only option was to tell him why I was peeping, which would have been great news for him and the queen.
He needs to know that his son is interested in someone at last, but Jaden really warned me not to tell anyone.
"I ask for the last time, why are you peeping on my son?" His eyebrows were arched as he peered at me.
"He...he...was talking to himself, so I was curious to know what he was saying." My voice falter and quaver as I said those words, fearing that Jaden might hear us and punish me for prying.
"Fine, what did you hear him say? And I saw you smiling happily while peeping. What is all the excitement about? Don't dare lie to me. Keep in mind that your life and family are in my hands." He threatened, and I decided to spill it all.
"Alpha, there is good news, but I can't say it here. Your son warned me not to tell you, but I think you and the queen need to hear it." I whispered, and he raised his brows with a questioning look.
"What is that?" He asked, anxiously, and I drew closer.
"There's a girl the prince sent me to check on. He wanted to know if she was fine and healthy." I relayed it to them, and I could see the king gasping in astonishment and excitement.
He quickly grabbed my hand and pulled me away, heading straight to his room.
"Are you really serious right now?" He giggled as we got to his door. He pushed it open, and once in my life I got the chance to see the Lycan King's inner chamber.
Almost everything was made of gold and had a fancy chandelier that sparkled everywhere, giving it the appearance of paradise.
I was lost in an instant, roaming my eyes around as I became mesmerized by the extreme beauty and perfection.
"What is he doing here?" The queen's voice brought me back to reality as I quickly bowed fully. She was coming out of the bathroom and was also putting on a golden bathrobe.
"Our son has fallen in love!" The Lycan king couldn't even hold back his voice as he screamed.
The queen couldn't believe it at first.
"Tell us everything in detail." The Lycan king ordered, sitting on the bed while I stood some distance away.
They both had their eyes on me and were so antsy to hear me out.
"After the Alpha of the Crescent Moon pack came and left, the prince called me over to his room and ordered me to sneak to the crescent moon pack and make sure Ava was fine. He really had that enthusiasm when telling me to check on her. I think....."
"Yes!!!!!" The queen's scream cut in as she leapt in so much happiness, gasping in glee. The Lycan king was already rubbing his palm and grinning in exhilaration.
"And what did you find out about Ava, his lover?" She added with a crooning voice that forced a short laugh off my lips even when I tried holding it back. It was just too funny that the queen was already calling Ava, the prince lover.
"Ava was actually tortured with that mixture, but she didn't turn into a demon, nor did she die. But, the guards who were taking her to the clinic decided to rape her out of hatred, but I stopped them, and you won't believe how furious the prince was when I told him Ava was almost raped by the guards. He acted like one protecting his mate." I relayed with a chuckle.
The queen already had tears of joy in her eyes and was smiling widely.
"How do you think we can bring them together?" The king asked with curiosity, and that was where I became confused.
"Please don't let the prince find out I told you his secret. He will kill me. Secondly, we just have to wait. Ava is locked up in the royal pack house, and everyone in the entire pack hates her. No one will help us bring her to the prince that easily " I explained.
"You can go ...I'll reward you greatly for telling us this. Now I can have great relief." The king exhaled.
"Yes, my heart is finally at ease. I believe we will find a way to bring them together someday." The queen purred, leaning her head on the king's shoulder as he stroked her hair.
"The only way I think the prince can meet her is if she attends school, but I don't think she will ever be allowed to attend school." I shrugged, and just as the king was about to say something, we heard a knock on his door.
"Who is there?" he asked.
"It is me, your son." That was the reply that froze me in an instant.
I am dead.
He must have traced my scent to this place! He must have figured out that I had let it out to his parents.
"Can you open this door fast and stop keeping me standing outside here!" Jaden"s voice came again and my heart stopped in my chest.
It is over for me.
