Chapter 14: Chapter 14

Ava's POV

Eric walked out of the room with an angry face and eyes glinting with hatred that told us clearly how much he wanted me dead if only he could do that. There was no doubt someone had appeared as my guardian angel that moment I was about to be raped, but the most annoying thing is that I got no chance to get a glimpse of him.

It was so frustrating that I felt the greatest urge to slap myself hard till I passed out.

Why the fuck did I pass out at the very moment when he walked in? If I had been conscious a little bit more, I would have seen the man who saved me and not only saved me but also coerced this guard to protect me now.

I slumped back on the bed, processing what had just happened in my head. There was fear in the guard's eyes when he said that last statement, and I am very sure he wasn't talking about Stan.

Stan was the head of the pack warriors, but he couldn't stop anyone from torturing or bullying me. He couldn't even let anyone know that he was having pity on me because that would change his fate into a pathetic one.

The only option was to ask the guard, but it is just so clear that he will never tell me.

I took a deep breath and was about lying flat on the bed when I remembered that the guard had told me to report to the Alpha.

Gosh!

How did I forget this?

I quickly jolted off the bed, swallowing the lump in my throat out of fright as I realized how much time I had wasted in the clinic since the guard came here.

Report must have reached my father that I was awake already and he would be angrily waiting for me.

With a quick pace, I headed out of the room, and just as I stepped out of the door, I felt a tug in my heart with cold shivers running down my spine. My legs wobbled as a sudden fear shook my entire body.

As I shut the door and made my way to the palace, my heartbeat was increasing rapidly and every part of my instinct was warning me against going further.

I was close to the staircase that leads to the third floor when I heard footsteps coming up from the stairs. My feet paused at that moment while I waited patiently for whoever was coming.

I saw three maids come into view after a few seconds, and it made me sigh in relief as I thought it was my father or some group of royal guards coming to harm me. I can't just tell why I am filled with so much fear all of a sudden, and the fact that I don't even know what I was scared of made me confused.

The maids stepped up and got into the hallway. I could hear them discussing something in a low tone among themselves, and just immediately after they caught sight of me, everyone went mute as they cringed a bit.

Their eyes trailed from my head to toe just as if they were trying to fish out something, and all I could see in those eyeballs were pure hatred and a desire to kill me. It was like I had done something so bad to them that they wished I would be shredded into pieces.

"Wicked girl...so evil!" One of them, with dark hair tied into a bun, seethed under her breath as she glared hard at me.

"You had the guts to kill again after what you did to her mother and brother..." Another, who seemed angrier, added and snorted in disgust, grabbing the hands of the girls.

"Let's leave this witch before she kills us too." She stated in a warning tone that left me more confused as I stood there staring at them with dropped jaws and widened eyes.

"I trust the Alpha. She will regret what she did after he is done with her!" The last girl who hadn't talked chipped in before they all scoffed at me in unison, rolling their eyes in exasperation as they walked past me at a faster pace, like they were trying to escape me.

"She is angry now. Let's hurry up and leave before we become victims of that monster!" That was the last statement I heard from them before their voices faded away as they got inside their room.

It seemed like I was paralyzed at that moment with no strength to move any part of me. Every word they said was replaying in my head, battering my brain with how dangerous it sounded. Omnious shudders were waving through my spine as I gulped my throat and tried hard to understand it all.

I had the strongest desire to ask them what they were talking about, because I was just waking up and had never killed anyone, but I lacked the courage to do so.

I had lost my voice and couldn't even breathe well. Those foreboding feelings that hit me when I came out of the clinic were just becoming clearer to me.

Someone had pulled a murder allegation on me. It doesn't even seem like an allegation; it was an obvious fact that had spread through the palace.

"I didn't kill anyone. I am innocent!" I mused as tears gathered in my eyes. There is only one person who I can meet now to find out what was going on, and that is Stan, but I don't even know where he is.

How will I even know if he will believe me? What if he is the one dead?

I was still brooding over it all when heavy footsteps began to storm up the spiral staircases. I needed no soothsayer to know it was the royal guards. They were obviously after me.

My hair all shot up in panic, and with the rush of adrenaline coursing through my veins, I found myself fleeing. My legs were just acting without my brain, so I didn't even know where I was going to. The hallway was a long passage that had a blockage at the end, so I was running to nowhere.

My heart was in pain because I knew the punishment that would befall me.

"I had never killed anyone!" I cried out while running, but then I felt so weak that my legs seized and I couldn't go further.

"Are you tired of running? You can never escape, you heartless monster!" Voices from the guards behind lash at me as their footsteps become very close.

A powerful blow hit my head, snapping it sideways so hard that I fell heavily to the floor.

"You dared to run, huh?" I was hearing voices from them, but it was distant due to the blow, which seemed to have dragged me into a dazed world with its pain. Heavy boots began to kick at my body like a downpour of rain, sending severe pain all over my body that I began to scream in plea.

"That is your punishment for stressing us with a hot race. Now it's time to meet the other severe one for killing him!"

"Killing who?!" I screeched, opening my eyes as they grabbed my hand and pulled me up off the ground. There were three guards, and none replied to my question as they dragged me by the hand, heading to nowhere else other than the palace.

In silence, I was taken straight to the palace, and the moment the door was opened, I felt my heart sink inside my belly as my blood ran cold.

For real, there was a dead man, and the man was that bald guard who almost raped me.

"A round of applause to her!" The Alpha shouted in deep hatred, and everyone clapped for me, including him.

"So you are really so wicked. I was about to believe you that you weren't a killer or a demon after you stepped out of that confinement. I was blaming myself for ever treating you badly, but you just showed me that I was right to make your life hell! I was right that you caused the deaths of your own mother and brother." My father bawled at me, wagging his head as tears dropped off his eyes.

"Eric, tell everyone how she killed your colleagues when you both were only helping her walk so as to get her wound treated in the clinic." Aurora, who was sitting on the long royal couch with the Betas and their daughter, chimed in with all innocence.

"I swear, I didn't kill anyone." I mumbled my reply, knowing fully well that not one of them would believe me.

"We are tired of your lies! Eric was the evidence and he will tell us how you did it since he was there too!" The Beta huffed.

"I knew this girl had evil in her heart. I hope the Alpha doesn't make another mistake of letting her stay here. She should be banned and turned into a rogue before she kills everyone here out of anger!" Nana added, glaring at me with pure hatred before leaving.

"The town crier is already at the bell waiting for my order to ring it and call out all the pack members. She will be banned immediately after Eric incriminates her. I am tired and scared of keeping her here." My father announced, and I saw the bright smile on Aurora's face.

"Eric knows I killed no one!" I shrieked in hope, but he sneered at me.

"Do you expect me not to tell them how you killed him? I can't lie to the Alpha king. I will tell everyone!" He snapped in resentment, and that made me gasp in panic.
