Chapter 68: Chapter 68
Lucius
My obnoxious alarm went off and woke me up, sounding like it was coming from every corner of the room. I shut it firmly with my hand. I scowled as I stretched out of habit and wondered what it was like for me to set the alarm so early. As I realized what was going to happen today, a smile appeared on my face.
Pack would be taking me and Freya on a business trip. The expression on her face when she realized I was going to part with the pack with her was still fresh in my mind. Given that I had always imagined what would occur today, it was truly a dream come true.
I'm glad I'll be accompanying her, but I can't help but wonder what would have occurred if I had declined to go with her. I got out of bed and gave myself a happy smile while lightly massaging my eyelids with my finger. I stood up, sweat streaming down my body, having completed my morning push-ups. I strode toward my restroom, a towel slung over my head, happiness shining in my eyes.
After taking a bath, I wash my teeth. With water trickling down my hair, I exited the restroom. After using lotion on my body, I patted it dry with my towel and changed into my clothes.
I turned to go to Freya's room after leaving my own. I was curious if she was awake, and I was certain that she would have been by now. We were heading out early, as she had informed me. When I knocked on her door, she opened it and let me in. She saw me right away and smiled. She approached me and planted a kiss on my mouth.
After I'd taken the initiative and kissed her, our relationship had changed completely. She appears to be unconcerned with anything. I had never seen her so open to me; she seemed more comfortable being herself with me now. Our greetings had improved, and we were giving each other more kisses. Things were beginning to go as I had hoped, which made me happy.
"Hello, Freya, good morning. "How was your night?" I questioned her while giving her a long, intense look. I looked at her from head to toe, my eyes fixed on her.
I rolled my eyes mockingly at her when she said, "It was great, and yours?"
"When are we leaving?" I looked at her questioningly. It felt like we ought to have left by now.
Other than us traveling, that is all I have on my mind. I couldn't help but be curious about the experience. I imagined our day's events for the entire night.
"We are leaving soon, and you are eager to go," she replied.
"Yes, I am; I can't wait to be on the chariot," said I.
She grinned and added, "It will be great having you with me on the journey; I won't be bored, and I won't need to take Seraphina with me." I couldn't help but feel delighted that I would be doing something amazing for my partner.
With a smile, I peered out of the chariot. Knowing that I would be traveling with my pal made my face glow with joy. Everything blurred, and I couldn't help but smile. My lovely partner, who was by my side, was the only thing on my mind.
She remarked, raising an eyebrow at me, "I need to get some things in my office; mind coming with me?" She was looking at me like she was begging.
She gave a low squeak as we made our way to her office. "Of course I will," I answered.
A few warriors were waiting for us as we returned on foot to the chariot. Some of them had taken their places in front of the chariot, and they would be coming after us on horseback. We climbed into the chariot and were shortly in motion. As the horses bolted forward, I took a seat next to Freya, who was fixated on the front. The sound of the horse's hoof caught my attention, and I couldn't resist thinking back.
The scene where I was dragged violently to Freya's pack was still fresh in my mind. I was thrashing about the chariot where I was tethered, and I can tell that's not something I want. I just wanted to get away from her and get back to Selene.
The memory of Selene made my heart pound with sorrow. I was well aware that shattering her heart in that way was cruel to her, and I also knew without a doubt that I would have suffered more if it had been me. I'm curious about her well-being and knew I wouldn't take it lightly with her. I regretted giving her the impression that we could last a lifetime together when, in reality, we couldn't.
"Lucius, are you alright?" I turned to look at Freya after hearing her voice startle me out of my reverie.
"I'm fine; I was thinking of what had happened." When I responded, "I couldn't believe a day like this would come," she laughed and grinned.
"I also don't believe this would happen, but I'm glad it all turned out to be like this." She rested her head on my shoulders and whispered, "I'm glad the moon goddess made me your mate."
"It is a good thing that you didn't give up on me easily; I don't know what I would have done if I were you." I'm grateful you stayed, since I would have left without my friend. I said honestly, "I'm glad you took me to your pack."
I nodded at her, understanding. "Enough of the talks; let's enjoy the ride," I asked.

Their alpha welcomed us into the pack and seemed to like Freya and me. As they discussed the business of the pack, I was there. They included me in their conversations, and eventually they concluded. When we were through, we strolled back to our chariot together.
My heart is thumping quickly and fearfully. I was aware that something was going to occur. I could feel something dangerous was on our way, but I was positive that this wouldn't pan out. I felt that the only way I could find out what was about to happen was for it to happen, even though I knew that something significant was going to occur while we were traveling. Freya seemed to know that, as we stepped inside the chariot, my body was beginning to overreact.
I was breathing heavily, not knowing what to do, as she looked at me with a furrowed eyebrow and inquired worriedly, "Lucius, are you alright?"
"I'm fine; it's just that I'm having a weird feeling that things aren't right." I tried to make things seem normal as I smiled and added, "I could feel some kind of weird feeling in my gut, and it's making me overreact."
She assured me, "You don't have to worry; I'm with you," and I grinned broadly in return. She might be concerned that something was about to happen, and I knew that's exactly what she would say, but I was positive that things wouldn't turn out well. She should not be concerned about anything, in my opinion. Should something untoward occur, I will make sure to safeguard her for the rest of my life. Whatever the circumstances, I will make sure she is not harmed.
