Chapter 22: Chapter 22
FREYA
I was relieved that the events of the previous day occupied all of my thoughts. Especially because Samuel had assisted me, I was in shock. I feel like I owe him; I'm willing to say how I really feel right now, and I couldn't be happier. I was confident that he would be pleased to see that my mate and I are beginning to develop a deeper bond.
Our first date was remarkable since Lucius had set up a location for us to go. Although I'm relieved that things turned out this way, I'm nonetheless concerned. I know that he couldn't possibly go back to Selene, but even so, I can't help but feel uneasy about the idea.
I'm sitting on my bed in my room, thinking about a lot of things. I got out of bed and went about my morning business. After a while, I left my room and went to Lucius's room, where I discovered him doing push-ups while awake. His physique doesn't resemble that of someone who works out often; thus, I question whether he goes out that early in the morning. I was aware that, despite his amazing physique, he would have the ideal figure if he continued to work out every day.
People would never approach him because they would perceive him as threatening. His toned physique sometimes made me question if he was an omega. Though I doubt he is an Omega, he may have an aura of one.
I said, "Good morning," and let out a deep sigh as I got up from where he was performing push-ups, perspiration streaming down his face. I couldn't resist the need to stare at his physique.
"Good morning. How was your night?" Heaving heavily, he asked, then turned to leave. He had no shirt on, and my attention was drawn to something on his back. Even though I've been aware of this since yesterday, I've never given it much thought.
"Fine, Lucius, how do you get the tattoo on your back?" I asked him, observing him with interest, and I was anxious to find out how he obtained the tattoo. A pure breed of Lycan is represented by the tattoo. I had asked him about it, as I thought it could sound strange.
He groaned heavily. "It had been on my back since the day I was born," and I realized that telling him he was Lycan might come across as strange. I said nothing, thinking that he might not want to trust me.
I was aware that I would require hard proof if I intended to tell him anything like this or demonstrate anything to him. I was aware that it wouldn't be wise to look for something like that right now, but since I'm an alpha, I doubt I'll find an omega to mate with. I always imagined that my partner would be strong, but upon discovering that he was an omega, I realized that it was the creation of the moon goddess, and all I could do was accept him as my mate.
I'm happy that the moon goddess has intentions for my partner and myself. That gave me joy to know that I would be the one to grant him his abilities.
"Why are you asking, though?" He arched an eyebrow at me as he inquired. For a brief moment, I was unable to speak, and I realized that if I didn't behave or follow through with caution, I might be discovered by him for the information I was looking for about his past.
I responded, "I like the tattoo; it's beautiful, and I'm curious to know where you got it done." He turned to face me and grinned.
He said, "I'll be in the bathroom; I want to take my bath," and I saw that we weren't quite ready to head to the dining hall when I checked the time.
He entered his bathroom, grabbed his clothing, and grabbed a towel. When I was left on my own, all I could do was begin to consider how to learn the truth about him. I knew that because I'm constantly busy, if I wanted to finish something, I'd have to work on it overnight. I was aware that scheduling it for the day might affect my work as the alpha. I couldn't help but feel terrified as I looked around the room and noticed that his fiancée had written many letters. I suddenly started to sweat, and I felt like there was a knot in my stomach.
I was aware that our next breakup might be brought on by his fiance, and I don't want that to occur. I was aware of its dangers. If he were to leave me, I would be the joke of the town. I read the letter and saw how much his fiancée loved him, so I knew she was capable of doing anything. He hasn't been responding to any of the letters, as I noticed when I was reading the letter. That pleased me, and I felt comfortable. I dismissed it from my thoughts and concentrated on waiting for him. He soon made his way back after some time, fully clothed. His face was dreamily smiling, and his clothing was on his body.
I said, "We are going to the dining hall together," and he gave a deep sigh and a shy nod.
As we made our way toward the dining hall, we were greeted by other pack members. Shortly after, I noticed Samuel and Seraphina grinning and approaching me.
I could feel Lucius's body tensing up, and he was staring at Samuel with a chilly expression.
"You don't have to worry." I murmured to him, "That's Samuel, my brother and his mate," and he calmed.
He continued, "So you lied to me, but your lie made me confess my feelings," to which I laughed.
He sat next to me as we entered the dining hall. After our silent meal, I accompanied him out of the dining hall. Since he would be staying in this pack, I had instructed one of the pack members to give him a tour. Although I had always felt it was unnecessary, because he was going to be staying with us, I had to give him a tour of the pack house. If this pack made me the Luna, soon he would be the Alpha. I am not Luna, so I will not put up with anyone calling me such. Instead, I would rather be referred to as the female alpha.
I am currently organizing the packing work at my office. The reason my thoughts are racing instead of staying focused on what I'm doing is the tattoo on his back.
I made a lot of effort to focus, and eventually I succeeded. In the evening, I strolled back home and entered my room. After taking a chilly shower, I made my way to Lucius's room. He was staring right at my door when I noticed him waiting for me at his doorway. By the time I reached my doorstep, I had no idea he was there.
After we finished our meal, everyone dispersed. After a pleasant conversation, Lucius and I went to our own apartments. I entered my room as well, and after waiting for a little while, I left. I made my way to the library and began looking through literature on Lycan. I brought every book into my room and placed it on my desk. I opened the book and began to read. I read the book through until the following morning, at which point I managed to finish it. A sketch of the tattoo that was on Lucius's body may be found in the book.
