Chapter 59: Chapter 59
He saw tears streaming from her eyes and wet her face. She’s beautiful. She should hear these words—everyday.
Her eyes were like bright sunshine. Makes her face radiant, brilliantly shine. Her face was not carved, certainly not in haste. But slow—with patience and with grace. Sculptured, it shows.
The words failed him. It failed him to tell her how much he loves her and how beautiful she was. His heart breaks to see her tears cascading down like that. It hurts him to hear her sob in the palm of her hands like that.
She finally suppressed the tears and suck in a huge rush of air. It doesn’t do much to calm her but she slightly felt better. She raised her bloodshot eyes and settled on his.
His eyes bore into hers and it’s the most enticing thing she’d ever seen. It’s pathetic how just a single gaze could make her vulnerable. She hates the she feels toward him. Especially in a situation like this. A situation where she just found out that he has a new mate. He has moved on.
“Alice…”
“I honestly don’t even want to hear what you have to say because literally don’t have anything significant to tell me after what I’ve.” The tears come rushing back again. She ducks her head and fold her arm over her chest. She breathes out, trying to calm the storm but it was impossible when he’s standing right in front of her.
His silent made her feel even worse than she was already feeling. It made her lose every hope she still believes she has in him.
“It’s funny how I stupidly thought that… you were still into me,” she said and raised her head to look at him. His eyes gapes as his throat rolls. She could see his jaw tensed as he makes a fist with both his hands.
“I really thought that I made a mistake by leaving you. I felt guilty every day and night. I felt guilty for throwing you out when you came after me in New York. I felt guilty whenever I thought of you which is every single minute of my life. I felt miserable without you, Dominic. I wanted us to work… I wanted us to work out. I got my hopes up… for nothing…”
He kissed her. without warning, without permission. Without even deciding to do it, but simply because he couldn’t have done anything else. He needed that breath she was holding. It belonged to him and he wanted it back.
She should be ashamed of her weakness. A man should not be allowed to make her feel the was that stolen kiss just made her feel.
His palms were cupping her warm cheeks, stroking it with his thumbs. He stared into her eyes for what seems like forever before he smiled and kissed her again. He dips an impatient hand into her hair while kissing her. It’s kind of kiss that screams ‘I’ve missed kissing you.’
She loves it. But it feels so wrong—it was wrong. He’s got a girl at home, waiting for him with a big baby bump. She has him all and the only thing Alice would ever get was a kiss.
She should stop him now but she was already too weak to back out. She was too soaked in his loving and comforting gesture to back out.
He finally releases her lips and rest his head on her neck. He sighs heavily and runs his finger down her back. He was breathing so hard against her neck that she could feel it all through her body. She closes her eyes tightly as she fought the demons that were urging her to kiss him again.
She doesn’t want to do that. She should push him away—she doesn’t want to do that either. All she knows was whatever decision she makes now would depend on the amount pain her heart would be in.
He’s walking them back until her back touches the wall. He brushes his lips against her neck, sending every bit of chill through her frail body. Her skin feels so much better with him touching it. Her hair feels better with his hands in it. Her mouth feels better with his tongue inside of it.
He presses his lips against her neck and wrapped his arms around her waist. He pushed her against him as he sighed.
“Nora is my cousin. She’s not my mate! She’s just my cousin. You’re my mate,” he said. His voice was soft, like a down comforter. She wants to roll around in it, wrap herself up in that voice.
And she guesses the name of the pregnant girl she saw was Nora.
“Her mate was being abusive and I had to take her away from him.” He raises his head to observe her. She meets his gaze, and the second she does, her mouth gets dry. He’s concentrating on her, and the serious look on his face makes her feel uncomfortable and nervous and interested all at once. She so badly wants this man all to herself.
“I’d never do anything to hurt you or give up on you, Alice. I somehow believed that there was going to be a second chance between us. There was going to be an us. Because I know you’re my mate… I’m your mate. So, just know that I love you. I love you with all of my fucked up, piece of shit heart.”
She brought her hand to his cheek as she smiled. His words make her smile. The nervous look on his face makes her smile. She loves how weak and soft he was whenever he was around her. “You heart isn’t a piece of shit. Your heart is mine. I love your heart.” She moves her hand down to his chest and pat it.
He smiled, soaking her up from head to toe with his eyes like a sponge.
“I’m sorry I didn’t show up when I promised to. I’m sorry for I fucked up everything and Oh God how desperately I begged myself to not fuck up with you. I love you. I’m head over heels in love with you. I’m yours and you fill my heart. My heart is literally where you are.” He finishes his confessions with tons of kisses on her lips, cheeks, eyes, nose and then return to her lips.
His hands were gripping her waist, and hers were gripping his shoulders. His tongue slides between her lips and into her mouth, and she took it very willingly. He groans and presses himself against her as her hands slide up his neck and through his hair. He pulls away just as fast and steps back several feet.
He sighs heavily and runs his hands through his hair, gripping the back of his neck. His eyes roam up and down her body, causing a globe of desire in her stomach and between her legs. “God, I could take you in right here in this building.
His confession makes her stomach to swirl with wild butterflies. She quickly looks away as she feels the blush creep up her neck. He chuckled as he sees her cheeks turn as red as the color of roses.
He walks back to her and held her waist. He presses a soft kiss on her cheek and her neck. “Unfortunately, I need to go take care of those assholes,” he said and hugged her. she wrapped her arms in around his with a long, relaxing sigh. It finally feels like home. He feels like home. He’s home.
“I want to take you to my place because I know Fredrick took them to his guard room. I’ll be back as soon as we’re done with them, is that okay with you?” He eyes searches hers with worry. He seemed nervous that he might have pissed her off.
She was a little embarrassed to meet his cousin after running off that way.
“You will love Nora. She’s so amazing,” he said and kissed her temple. She smiled and nodded. She doesn’t want to see the man that almost killed her and the man that sacrificed her for death for the second time.
They step out of the building and head toward Dominic’s territory with his pack warriors following up behind them.
He made sure she was in safely before he kissed her goodbye and left.
She was in the living room she used to call home. It felt weird because she could now call it her home again. She’d missed everything about this house she had missed the kitchen especially. They had so many fierce moments in there together. A smile escaped her lips. She bites down on her lip, still looking around.
“You actually look much better with a smell on your face.”
Alice briskly turns around to the direction she heard the voice from. It was his cousin, Nora. She was eating a cucumber with whipped cream on top of it.
Nora noticed her eyes on the cucumber and smiled. “Wanna try it? it tastes good,” she said, stretching out her hand.
Alice shook her head. She wasn’t ready to puke that night. “Pregnancy must be a hell of a drug,” she said.
Nora made a ‘hmph’ sound I agreement. “Don’t even get me started,” she lamented, making her way to the sofa. She settles down and finished her weird cravings while Alice stood there observing her.
She’s so beautiful and she looked cheerful, and bubbly. She had a moon-shadow black hair with thick dark eyebrows just like Dominic’. She had a saccharine sweet lip. They were blossom soft. She looks up and set her forest green eyes on Alice.
“Come sit,” she said, patting a seat next to her. Alice smiled appreciatively and settled down beside her.
“Dominic had told me so much about you. I’ve been expecting to see you ever since I moved here,” she began. “Honestly, you’re more than what he described you to be. The hair…” she looks at Alice’s hair. “Can I touch it? It’s magical. Like a princess. Who am I kidding, you are a princess.” She laughed at her own question and conclusion.
“Technically,” Alice retorted, chuckling nervously.
Nora’s eyes were still on Alice’s hair until she finally gave her the go ahead to touch it. she squealed and gently brushed her fingers against her hair. Her eyes sparkle with astonishment as her mouth part. “It’s soft too,” she said incredibly.
Alice finds it cute how she was so enticed and entertained by just the texture and colour of hair. By the close up look on her face, she seems. Even younger than Alice was.
It sad that she had to go through pain and pregnancy at the same time. Alice spotted a scar on her jawline and it breaks her knowing the cause of it.
She returns her eyes to Alice and she smiled at her. “I now understand why he’s head over heels about you. You’re so perfect.”
He must’ve skipped the part where she abandoned him when he was telling Nora about her. She knew he wouldn’t want her to tell Nora also. She smiled at her and left everything the way it was.
They spent the next couple of hours getting to know each other. Alice noticed how they had so much in common and how they literally kicked off as if they knew each other for years.
Dominic came back after midnight where he met Nora sleeping on the couch. He heard the presence in the kitchen and he knew it was Alice. He smiled and walked toward the door.
She came out before he could reach the door. But he shoves her back in. He wrapped his arms around her waist and kissed her.
“You’re back,” she said, trying to shrug off the redness of her cheeks.
“Yep. Sorry it took longer than I expected to. There’s going to be a gathering for the whole packs around about Aaron and Vincent. Your father and I can’t make the decision without the other Alphas. But I promise, they’ll get what they deserve.” He kisses her again and it brushes off all the pang feeling she felt in her chest.
She smiled brightly as she wrapped her arms around his neck. “I had a great evening with Nora. You were right, she’s amazing,” she said, changing the topic.
“Yeah, seems like she enjoyed the evening too. Lily was supposed to come pick her up and take her home.”
“She doesn’t live here?” She asked, rubbing her thumb against the back of his neck.
“No, she does not. She just comes here to hang around and go back to my mom’s place.” His hands were roaming around her body, exploring every place that it missed.
She bites down on her lip. “I need to go home,” she whispered and his face immediately falls.
“It’s two in the morning. Stay here for the night. Please,” he said, bringing down his face to her level.
She smirked and pecked his nose. “I’ll go sleep at your mom’s place with Lily then.” She frees herself from his hold and make way to the door.
“Oh, c’mon.” he grabs her wrist. “Lily could never give you what I was planning for you tonight.”
She felt a wrecking yet satisfying ball in her stomach. She was nervous and excited at the same time.
“Please stay here with me. We have to pick up from where we stopped. I don’t want you to go to bed unsatisfied,” he whispered and gave her a light kiss on the lips.
She sucks in a quick gasp after comprehending what he meant. “You’re so bad,” she said jokingly, hitting chest. He laughed out, hugging her against his body.
“It would be better than staying up and gossiping with my sister.”
She rests her head on his chest and snuggled in. “Definitely a thousand times better.”
