Chapter 57: Chapter 57
"We have to come clean. We have to tell her—we have to tell everyone. Oh my God we did a bad thing," she lamented, hyperventilating. He approached her and grabbed her shoulder. She calmed instantly before he even spoke because his eyes just told her everything she needs to be assured of.
"We are going to be fine, okay? We didn't do a bad thing... we just... we should've told everyone about us before it happened," said said calmly despite how dead scared he was of her father.
She nods her head. "We should tell Alice first, right? And see what she thinks. I mean, my father has been talking about finding a mate nonstop. I choose you."
He smiled at her, his eyes searching hers. How could he be this lucky? "We tell Alice first. I am so sure she'll approve of it."
"I totally agree," she said, giggling. "Oh, I can't wait to go public. It's so hard to not hug you or kiss you the way I want while we're in public." She pursed her lips, making his smile to grow wider.
"I love you, Miley." Last year, if anyone told him he'd end up getting the Beta's daughter as his mate, he'd call them crazy. He'd laugh in their faces because she's out of his league and her father was the second strongest werewolf in their pack. He doesn't even stand a chance. But here he was, leaning to kiss her. His mate.
She gets this knot of excitement in her stomach when Daniel leaned forward and presses his mouth to her, like he doesn't care that someone might walk into the cave and see them.
He hugs her close and kisses the top of her head. They stayed that way for couple of minutes. "What exactly do we tell our parents? Your father? Is he going to accept me as your mate?" Daniel was a little bit worried for them. It's always the other way around in this kind of situation—the male is mostly the powerful one whereas the female is the omega. In their case, it's the other way round.
"He's... he'll learn to adapt. My father is a very understanding man. He'll approve of us. I choose you. You're my fated mate."
Her words gives him courage. It gives him confidence and makes him stronger that he is. He hugs her tighter, stroking her back. They're fated mates and they'll make it work. They have to make it work—for the thing they've done.
"Alice would be here any moment," Miley murmured and he knew it was time to let go.
He nods and lets go of her. He guides her to the side of the water and settled down while they wait for Alice.
"But what if she says it's a bad idea? What if she doesn't approve of us? You know I can't do what Alice isn't pleased with—she's my best friend and she knows what's best for me."
He stares at her for couple of seconds before returning his eyes to the crystal clear water. No matter how much they'd swim in it or throw stones into it, it always stays clean and clear.
"I don't think Alice would ever say no to our relationship, especially now that you're..."
"Hey guys." Just walked in, interrupting him from finishing his sentence.
They both tensed up, making Alice smile to fade. She tilts her head and raised her eyebrow. "Everything alright?" She asked, looking between them.
Miley and Daniel shared a look and it got her more anxious than she didn't know she was feeling. Her smile entirely fades at the look at their faces.
"There's something we need to tell you. Just promise you'll be honest with us. We want your complete honesty," Daniel told her. She swallowed hard and nodded as though her heart wasn't beating against her ribcage wildly.
Miley sighed, approaching her. She grabbed Alice hands and rubbed her knuckles with her thumbs. "Daniel and I are..." she halts and looked back at him.
Alice mouth was slightly parted, trying to register what they're trying to tell her. It took her a whole twenty seconds to comprehend what they meant.
"Oh..." she was never expecting that to happen. Her breath halts for several seconds. She can't move, she can't blink. "Oh..."
Miley's eyebrows shoots up worriedly. "Oh, good? Or oh, bad?" She asked with full hope.
Alice looks at Daniel—he's looking at her with pleading eyes. She can't say no to them. Its something she wasnt expecting but this is the greatest thing she'd ever heard in so long.
Her shocked expression turns to a huge smile. She nods, she keeps nodding. Miley breathes out the air she's been holding. "Yes?" Alice nods again.
"She said yes," Miley squealed, jumping up and down.
"Hey, hey careful," Daniel said worriedly as he approached her. Her lays his hand on her back. She chuckled softly. "Sorry, I almost forgot."
Alice shoots them a quick distrustful look. "Forgot what?" She has one thing in mind. Daniel just told Miley to stop jumping. He looks concerned. It could only mean one thing...
"I'm pregnant," she announced.
Alice didn't even know how to react exactly. She hasn't even recovered from the first shocking news because she was worried about them. She was worried about Daniel the most. Miley's father may or may not approve. And they just made things harder for them by getting pregnant.
When she doesn't say a word, Miley's face falls as her eyes became glassy. Her hands began to tremble because of the look on Alice's face.
"I was afraid of this. You don't think it would work out right? God, Daniel why didn't you pull out!" She yelled at him, making him for frustrated.
Alice grabs her by her shoulders and shook her head. "No, no, Miley. I'm so happy for you both. I'm happy that my best friends are in a relationship. I'm happy that you're going to have a baby. I'm just... your parents. Do they know?"
Miley face darts down and Alice knew better. She heaves a sigh. "Well... you'll be fine, both of you. I'll be here to support your effortlessly. I'm really, truly happy." She extends her arms and the fall in.
"You're going to be okay."

Dominic called her while they were stargazing. She couldn't pick the call. She just stared at her phone ring nonstop until he eventually stopped calling. He hasn't called since then. He hasn't called the next day, he hasn't called when max was leaving. He hasn't called today.
He hasn't even showed up like he told her he would.
She's not starting to get worried rather than angry. She'd tried calling but his phone wasn't going through. Maybe that was the problem. Maybe his phone got broken.
Maybe he's ignoring her.
She disregards all the thoughts and got to her feet from her bed. She has to clear every doubt tonight. She has to clear everything heartache tonight. She has to clear every ounce of pain and suffering tonight.
Things have to start or end tonight. She's willing to give up even if it means she'll regret it. Things won't move forward or backward if she keeps sitting in her room just wondering and making wishes that don't seem to want to come true.
She'd come to conclusion that the best thing to do is go over to Umbris pack and confront Dominic. It's the only way to clear her doubts and unanswered questions.
She doesn't plan to tell anyone she was going. Most especially Miley and Daniel that already has their plates filled with worries concerning Miley's pregnancy.
She always scented Daniel off her and scented Miley off him but it didn't click to her that they were together. It probably happened when she was in New York. They're the only ones probably. It possibly started with a confession or maybe a memorable moment, then a kiss. A kiss has to be the reason behind their relationship.
Whatever triggered their relationship—Alice loves it. It's the most peaceful and beautiful thing she'd ever seen. They're so cute together. Especially now that they've told her and they don't have to hide it anymore.
It's what Alice needs—a cute relationship. A cute mate—Dominic.
She groans, making her way to her bathroom to freshen up. She can't go there looking like her messed up love life.
Who knows what might happen if she goes there. Who knows if she'd even come back here—just who knows what they might do when she confronts him and tell him she's still in love with him. She knows that he knows that. It would be good to remind him.
She took a quick shower and threw a pink dress with red roses on it. He bought her the dress just few days after she moved in with him. She has worn it once. This was the second time she was wearing it.
She sprayed a reasonable amount of perfume—the perfume he loves. She looked at herself one more time in the mirror before taking the big step out of her room.
She encountered with her mother, Linda. She takes in her appearance and smirked, placing a hand on her waist.
"You look dressed," she said, obviously wanting to know where Alice was heading.
Alice smiled sheepishly and nodded. "I'm heading out..." she wants to tell her mother where she was heading. She doesn't want to tell her because what if she doesn't want her to be with Dominic anymore?
It's strange how almost two years ago Linda wanted her to be with Dominic but she was against it. Now she was afraid that her mother maybe against it.
"Where to exactly?" She asked causally.
"To the..." she groans softly. She's a bad liar and her mother would definitely find out where she went to. She has this strong sense of smell and it's crazy.
"Dominic. I'm going to go see Dominic. I need to talk to him," she confessed. She waits for her mother's reaction but she gave her none. It's more frustrating than actually knowing what she thinks about it.
"You're going over to his place?" It's a question but it totally sounds like she was calling her stupid.
"Yes... because he's worth it," she said and swallowed the painful bile.
Linda sighed gently and ducked her head for couple of seconds before she looks up at her. "I hope you make things work between you." She approached her and hugged her before she planted a kiss on her cheek.
Alice grinned from ear to ear. "Thank you, mom."
"You be careful please. And come back before it gets too late," she said and pecked her on the cheek again.
Alice made her way out through the gets and begin her journey to Umbris. She was eager to see him at the same time dread how he'd react to seeing her. She may look desperate. She may sound desperate. But this was going to be the last time she'd converse with him before she completely gives up on everything concerning love.
She walked through the bushes. She would've ran there but she doesn't want to ruin her perfect dress. And it wasn't like she brought a spare with her. So, the only alternative was to walk or run on her two feet.
Within couple of minutes, she was at the gates. She stared at it—it feels like she was here just yesterday. It feels like she never even left. It feels like home. It feels like she belongs here.
Before she could approach it, Zack spotted her through the lines of the irons. He smiled and waved. His smile was too wide for her to even contain. He's laughing, picking up his pace to approach her.
"Alice? It's been so long, how have you been?" He spoke enthusiastically. It makes her feel a little bit better to know his pack members still like her even after what she did to their Alpha.
"I've been... good. How are you? How are things here?"
He nods, smiling brightly at her. "He's at home. He hasn't been going out since the attack."
Her face falls.
"No, no he's just... he has... he's at home." He walks away. It's weird.
She doesn't blame him. He sometimes do that when he's anxious. And he's anxious about something—it's something that has to do with Dominic.
She sighs and made her way to Dominic's house.
She was glad none of the people there even notice her. Everyone was just going about their business. She appreciates how not nosy they are—unlike her pack members. Those omegas and one hell of an ungrateful bunch of people.
The thought of going to see Lily first hits her but that wasn't what brought here. The goal was to go see Dominic and talk things out with him. She has to achieve it. She's going to achieve it because she's on his porch and about to knock.
"Okay... you can do this. You can do this. You can face him..."
She hears the footsteps coming towards the door and she instantly panicked. She takes few steps back just as the door open. His face comes to view. His eyes gape with amusement. He takes in her appearance and smiled. He remembers the dress—he could tell by the look in his eyes. How they remain glassy for a moment.
"Hey," she managed to speak.
He takes the journey from her dress to her eyes. "Hey."
It's silent. Just staring contest and silence. She kind of loves it but she'd need him to do more than that. She'd need him to tell her what exactly he's thinking about while his eyes travel from her eyes to her lips to her dress.
"Hey, who's at the door?" Someone pushed the door wide open. Convenient enough for Alice to see her complete. She has brown eyes like Dominic. Her face looks relaxed and she doesn't at all know who Alice is.
Alice's breath had already stopped when her eyes darted at the bump in her stomach. She's pregnant. It looks around the months she left for New York.
He has moved on. He has moved on even before she left New York. He has moved on that his new mate was already heavily pregnant.
"Alice... I..." he stuttered.
The girl's eyes gape with shock as she gasped, placing a hand on her lips.
Her heart races in her chest so fast that she feel like it's going to burst through her ribcage. She clenched her chest as she takes a deep breath, but it does nothing to calm her.
"I think I'll give you two some space." She hurriedly disappears into the house.
His eyes were fixed on Alice's terrified face. The look on her face sends pangs of guilt straight to his stomach.
"Alice," he calls out, taking careful steps toward her.
"Don't," she warned, taking back several steps away from him. "Don't come near me." Her voice was trembling. Her entire body was shaking with fear, betrayal... sorrow.
He pauses, staring at her worriedly. She keeps taking backward steps away from him until she finally turns and took off.
