Chapter 521: Chapter 521
Finally, the words were spoken, this is what Dylan Dawson was thinking.
Eleanor Hollis, however, didn’t think much of it. After the last incident, the two of them were at least friends, and she thought Dylan was comforting her.
She wiped her own tears and took a deep breath.
"I haven’t signed the divorce agreement yet. It’s just what he proposed. We are still considered husband and wife."
As soon as she finished speaking, she heard the doorbell in the living room ring.
Dylan gave her a faint glance, his lips curving into a mocking smile.
"Go open the door, maybe it’s someone bringing over the divorce papers."
Eleanor slowly stood up from the ground, suddenly hesitant to approach the door.
But the living room doorbell kept ringing, as if it wouldn’t stop until dawn if she didn’t go out.
Dylan didn’t press her, just watched quietly and then closed his eyes.
Ten minutes later, the doorbell outside the living room was still ringing, and Eleanor had to confirm that perhaps Dylan’s guess was right, and the person outside was here with the marriage papers.
"Do you want me to help you?"
Dylan finally spoke, opening his eyes slightly, with a hint of impatience deep within them.
Was it that painful to leave Hugo Quinn? Obviously, he didn’t want her. Why cling to the last bit of hope?
Eleanor stood still, the sound from outside the door like a soul-stirring tune, she didn’t listen to Dylan’s words, immersed in her own world.
It was only after a long while that she lifted her foot and walked over, feeling as if her legs weighed a thousand pounds. ʀᴇᴀᴅ ʟᴀᴛᴇsᴛ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs ᴀᴛ novel{f}ire.net
Outside the door stood several men and someone who looked like a lawyer. Seeing her, they slightly bowed.
"Miss Hollis, hello, I’m the lawyer sent by Miss Nash. This is the divorce agreement Mr. Quinn asked us to bring over. I’ll tell you the specific process. Can I come in?"
The lawyer’s attitude was good, with a smile on his face.
Eleanor turned her body slightly, her eyes lowered.
The lawyer entered the room and only then discovered there were others inside, a flicker of understanding in his eyes.
There were rumors outside saying Eleanor was seeing a young man. He initially thought the rumors were false, after all, Eleanor seemed like a quite decent woman.
But now, she hadn’t officially broken up with President Quinn yet and was already living with a young man.
Dylan didn’t speak at the side, watching Eleanor silently take the divorce agreement, his eyes flickering.
"Miss Hollis, this is a check President Quinn left for me. He said that as long as you are willing to sign your name on the divorce agreement, you can fill in any amount you want on this unchecked check."
The lawyer had a businesslike face, but was silently sighing in his heart.
Dating a rich person is quite nice; casually breaking up and you can get a sum of money that ordinary people would never earn in a lifetime.
However, that President Quinn is really generous. Fill in as you wish; if Eleanor wants Grandeur, would he be willing to give it?
Eleanor stared at Hugo Quinn’s signature for a while, then took the pen and slowly and solemnly signed her own name.
"No need, take the check back to him. I’ve already signed. When I married into the Quinton Family, I brought nothing with me, no so-called dowry, so I choose to leave with nothing."
The lawyer’s eyes flickered with surprise, somewhat anxious.
"Miss Hollis, you should think this through, this is a rare opportunity."
Eleanor nodded, only feeling a pounding in her head.
Dylan mocked with a sneer.
"Leave with nothing? Eleanor, are you looking down on President Quinn? He said you could fill it out as you please, or are you using this method to make him remember you?"
Eleanor was a bit angry, not sure if she was angry at Dylan or at herself.
The lawyer pretended not to hear their conversation, some things are best kept to oneself. He’s heard more than a little of the blood and drama within wealthy families. If he wasn’t discreet, he wouldn’t be able to survive in the legal profession.
Dylan’s pupils shrank, knowing she was truly angry and he closed his mouth, though feeling a bit aggrieved, she was the first woman to dare to yell at him.
"Miss Hollis, if you insist on leaving with nothing, then I will take my leave."
Eleanor nodded, surprisingly calm.
The lawyer stood up and nodded slightly.
"I will show the divorce agreement to President Quinn. Miss Hollis, I wish you good luck."
After the lawyer left, Eleanor quietly sat on the sofa, even having the mood to turn on a variety show.
"Do you think by doing this, Hugo will call you, Eleanor? I advise you to give up on the thought; when a man is ruthless, you can’t imagine it."
Eleanor said nothing, quietly watching the variety show.
Dylan talked for a while until his mouth went dry, but the person beside him remained indifferent.
He suddenly became silent too, just watching ahead without saying a word.
Eleanor’s phone lay quietly on the coffee table, both occasionally glancing at it.
According to reason, the lawyer should have told Hugo about her leaving with nothing. Surely, he would call. She just wanted to hear him say a few more words, to personally hear it from him, so that she could let go.
Another ten minutes passed, and finally the phone rang, Hugo’s exclusive ringtone.
Eleanor’s eyes brightened, she reached out her hand.
As she approached the phone, she hesitated, retracting her fingers slightly.
Dylan watched her timid behavior, feeling a surge of anger.
He grabbed the phone and directly answered it.
Eleanor, in panic, snatched it back, her breathing somewhat erratic.
"Eleanor, why didn’t you fill in the check? It’s the only thing I can give you as compensation."
Hugo’s voice was very calm, as if she was just a stranger.
Everything Eleanor wanted to say was stuck in her throat, her fingers clenched, and she responded with a muffled "Hmm."
Hugo rubbed his temples, looking weary.
"I don’t want you to leave with nothing. Keep that check. I know you don’t lack money right now, but if you don’t take it, I’ll feel guilty."
Eleanor finally uttered his name, and as soon as those two words came out, her eyes turned red.
Just as she was speaking, Jean Nash’s voice came from the other side.
"Not asleep yet? Who are you on the phone with at this hour?"
Eleanor stiffened completely. So late at night, Jean was still by his side. Does that mean the two of them are living together?
That’s right, when she left, Jean mentioned she was going to move in.
Suddenly, she couldn’t say anything more, simply giving a wry smile.
"I’ll keep the check. You two get some rest. Good night."
She fled somewhat awkwardly, not daring to hear Hugo’s voice anymore.
After Hugo hung up, he glanced faintly at the woman beside him.
"Did you do it on purpose?"
