Chapter 518: Chapter 518

Eleanor Hollis didn’t know what was happening with Dylan Dawson, and naturally, she wasn’t aware that someone was eyeing Dylan with ill intentions.

After returning from the hospital, she went back home.

But tonight, the villa seemed lively, with many people present, and Hugo Quinn sat right in the center. As for the others, she didn’t recognize any of them but only noticed a flamboyant woman sitting next to Hugo.

Eleanor furrowed her brows. What were these people doing here?

"Hugo, what’s going on here?"

She asked perplexedly, and the woman stood up of her own accord.

"You must be Eleanor Hollis. I should thank you for playing the role of Hugo’s wife in this charade."

The woman spoke impolitely, her sharp gaze scanning Eleanor from head to toe.

An obstruction seemed to form in Eleanor’s throat. What did this woman mean?

The woman’s lips curled into a smirk as she glanced indifferently. ʀᴇᴀᴅ ʟᴀᴛᴇsᴛ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs ᴀᴛ N0v3l.Fiɾe.net

"Perhaps you don’t know yet, but I am Marcus’s biological mother."

The words "biological mother" were like a bomb going off, exploding instantly next to Eleanor’s ear.

They had been searching for so long, and finally, they found her.

She looked at Hugo, noticing him nodding slightly, his eyes filled with apology.

At that moment, a sudden panic swept over her, as if she truly was just there to play a part in a game with him. Now that the game was over, it was time for her to leave.

She couldn’t utter a word, her fists slowly clenching.

"You don’t have to explain. Hugo already told me that you two were just acting to force me out. That incident was unexpected; I didn’t know I was pregnant, nor did I expect Grace Lynch would mistakenly take my child. I love Hugo, and now I am back."

The underlying meaning of her words was clear: she was back and Eleanor should step aside; their game was over.

Subconsciously, Eleanor glanced at Hugo again, his mouth opening as if he had something to say to her.

The woman stepped forward, breaking their eye contact.

"Miss Hollis, I don’t know what you feel for Hugo, but regardless of whether there is love, this game is over. I intend to move into this villa within three days. I hope that before then, you will have cleared your belongings."

The woman’s attitude was domineering, at least from Eleanor’s perspective.

Eleanor pressed her lips together, staying silent until the woman left. Only then did her tightly clenched hands slowly relax, revealing bloodstains.

Hugo approached, taking her hand to have a look.

Eleanor pulled her hand away without saying a word.

Hugo sighed, pulling her into his arms.

"I’m sorry, I didn’t discuss this with you. I’ve already conducted a test with her and Marcus, and she really is Marcus’s mother. Eleanor, when she came to negotiate, she made it clear that she wanted us to end so she could become the mistress of this house. Otherwise, she wouldn’t reveal Marcus’s condition."

Eleanor’s lips started to quiver. "And what about you? What do you think..."

Was he truly hoping she would step aside for their happiness? From start to finish, it felt as though she was just an outsider.

"Her name is Jean Nash, granddaughter of Grand General Nash. She just returned from abroad recently, and the Nash Family is aware of it too. Eleanor, if we want to save Marcus, I have no choice. The medical data for his condition is only known to the Nash Family’s private doctor. The condition they’ve set is for Jean to become the young mistress of the Quinton Family."

All of Eleanor’s body was trembling, her complexion turning ghostly pale.

"Should I start packing to leave?"

It felt as though her chest was being torn apart. Only now did she realize she had never truly owned anything, just Hugo’s affection. If Hugo abandoned her one day, she would have nothing left.

Hugo embraced her, knowing she was overthinking.

"Eleanor, I don’t know what to do. On one hand, there’s you; on the other, there’s Marcus. It pains me to lose either of you. I can only ask you to endure this for a while. Once Marcus recovers, I will bring you back. I’m sorry, Eleanor."

Hugo’s eyes were reddened. As a husband, this action made him indeed a scoundrel.

Eleanor tried to manage a weak smile, understanding his plight, yet unable to shake the heartache.

She quickly went upstairs to pack her things, taking only a few clothes with her.

She walked to the living room, finding Hugo there in a daze. They exchanged glances without saying a word.

She stepped out, leaving as if she had made a significant decision.

And the few people waiting at the door immediately called Jean Nash.

"Miss, Eleanor Hollis has left, and Hugo didn’t deceive you."

Jean Nash exhaled a sigh of relief, putting her phone down.

She had only recently returned to the country, previously spending time abroad.

When she was younger, she was saved by someone, mistakenly thinking it was her ex-husband. Only later did she realize her ex-husband had deceived her.

She decisively divorced and came back to find the person who had truly saved her, with all evidence pointing to Hugo.

For him, she endured so much suffering, even entrusting her chastity to an imposter. The thought pained her, leading her to conspire with Claire Shaw and execute such a plan.

While abroad, she and Claire had been good friends, inseparable. Claire had been particularly helpful in this instance.

After a moment’s contemplation, she picked up the phone to call Claire.

"I’ve done as you suggested, and they indeed believed me. The item used for testing belonged to Eleanor Hollis, so it seems the child is really hers. It’s laughable that those two never realized it from beginning to end."

Claire’s corner of her mouth curled slightly. Jean Nash was merely her pawn to exact revenge on Eleanor, due to Eleanor’s friend’s meddling causing her to flee abroad in disgrace.

"I’m glad you succeeded. Once you marry into the Quinton Family, you must invite me for a drink."

A blush crossed Jean’s face as she stomped her foot.

"I know, and the Hollis family illness happens to be a study area for the Nash family’s private doctor. Internationally, my doctor is the only one researching it. Hugo has no choice but to compromise with me. It’s as if fate itself is aiding me. Claire, thank you so much this time. Once I marry into the Quinton Family, you can safely return. Hugo will undoubtedly be on my side and won’t pursue what you did in the past."

Claire nodded. Her reluctance to return home was out of fear that those events would still be remembered by Eleanor.

After exchanging a few more words, they ended the call.

After moving out of the Quinton Family villa, Eleanor went to the Hollis family’s house. Most of the Hollis family’s servants had been dismissed by her, and the place now appeared empty, though a designated person came to clean it monthly, keeping the house tidy.

Upon turning on the lights in the room, she saw a man sitting inside. Her eyes instantly turned vigilant, wanting to leave, but several men suddenly rushed in from the side, completely blocking her escape.
