Chapter 32: Chapter 32

SARAFINA.
"Where is this?" I asked Jamal as he led me into another room inside his 'room' which I had no idea was there after all.
How would I know though, not like I spent any longer than five minutes here or less. The room was way bigger than his bedroom, much more bigger than I had expected. There were two mahogany desks on opposite sides of the room with different books and documents piled up on them.
In the far middle of the room were three shelves filled with books, if I would take a closer look I'm sure it would be books and scrolls of generations before us.
"It is my office" Jamal replied.
"Office, wow" I muttered in reply.
"So can you operate a computer?"
"Computer? What's a computer?" I asked with a confused frown etched in my voice.
"Bad choice you are, I should have done a little interview before asking you to work" he muttered and brought out a silver like— box? From his drawer.
"What's that?" I asked curiously moving closer to take a near peek at the box like thing on his hand. Only that it was way way too flat to be called a box.
"It's a laptop" he replied and sat behind the desk, he opened the thing called laptop and did some magic with his fingers, I gasped in awe as the laptop shone brightly.
"Wow... This is so magical"
He scoffed. "Magical? This is technology Rafi, technology.... It is something from the civilized province.. I need to make a petition for things like this to be introduced to Zedora we can't keep rotting away in the old ways"
"Rotting away? The civilized province are not any better than us" I said.
"Only that they think like gods" I muttered.
"Are you always this dramatic?" He asked turning to face me as I was directly behind his chair peering at the laptop.
I grinned. "I don't think so, anyways what's my work as your personal assistant?"
He shook his head and turned back. "Hope you can read and write, because if you can't.... I might just have to throw you out of here"
"As much as I will like to say I can't read and write so that I will be thrown out if here... I figured that you practically need my help because this...." I pointed to the heap of files on both desks. "Cannot be tackled down by you alone" I completed with a wink and walked to the other desk. I sat on the chair and placed my hands on my chin.
"So how am I helping?"
His mouth was still hanging slightly open as he stared at me. "Did you just wink at me Rafi?"
Oh so stupid eyes, putting me in trouble again huh. I rubbed on my eyes. "Actually it wasn't really a wink, you know I think something got into my eyes" I replied.
His suspicious glare told me he did not buy my lie but he let it slide. "Catch" he said throwing a pen at me. Fortunately I did catch and I grinned triumphantly at him. He rolled his eyes.
"There are a lot of petitions there which will be submitted tomorrow at the council meeting, set them according to what issues they regard and put some corrections to the spellings if needed"
"That's all?" I asked.
"Get to work Rafi" he snapped coldly. I missed that icy tone of his.
'Idiot, didn't you say you won't have anything to do with him now you are missing his voice.. The cold one to be precise.. You are so damned girl' My subconscious yapped at me.
I mentally slapped my head, agreeing with my subconscious, I am so foolish! I sighed and finally got into work. Few hours later I was still on it. Wow! Jamal is so wise to have given me this kind of punishment, my neck and back hurt like crazy.
I bent my neck a bit hoping it will ease the pain, unfortunately it only worsened. I groaned in utter frustration. "Are you okay?" Jamal asked, his eyes was on mine when I looked up at him, I totally forgot he was here with me.
"I'm fine" I replied trying to avoid his intense gaze on me.
"You are sure?" He asked again, I rolled my eyes but my stomach chose that moment to growl in hunger. Well I think I'm hungry. I pouted and looked at him, he had a wide grin on his face.
"How about you eat something, did you even have breakfast?"
I shrugged. "I'm not really a breakfast person besides I just got a new home and there wasn't any foodstuffs.
" You just st got a new home? How is that possible"
My mouth again, why do I like spilling out things like this whenever I am with him. 'It only shows how in love with him you are' a small voice at the back of my head said.
In love? Never, but who am I kidding anyway, I'm in love with Jamal and I know it, even him loosing his memory and being so different from when I first knew him does not change the fact that I'm still in love with him.
"You are not answering me Rafi" he said jerking me put of my train of thoughts, it was then I realized he was at my table, peering down at me.
"Uhm, you know since I had to work for you, I decided to quit my job and stay with my friend who just got a new quarter in the courts.
Lies Sarafina, you have been doing so much lies where this man is involved.
"Okay, let's get something to eat"
"Us? Like you and I? Where?"
"In my room of course, all I just have to do is have the maids bring a lunch for two into my chambers" he replied and gestured to the door. "After you Rafi"
I got up and made my way to the door, I held on to the doorknob and tried to open it but it wouldn't budge. I tried again it still won't budge. "What is wrong with the door" I said impatiently and turned around unfortunately slamming myself into Jamal who was directly at my back.
"Hey easy" he said holding my waist as we both staggered back. My eyes went to his. Wrong idea, because his eyes was blazing with desires on its own. I could feel the pounding of his chest beneath his shirt just like mine too was beating so fast, didn't I say I want to stay away from him.
My palms were already sweaty, and my breathing had hitched erratically. I had to move back but yet I couldn't find the nerve to do so, I knew what was coming when he finally dipped his head down taking my lips in soul claiming, mouth watering and absolutely rugged kiss.
