Chapter 28: Chapter 28

_______________

JAMAL.

"So how about a walk around the palace since I can't speak to my father yet, besides I think I need some fresh air" I said to Khan after I left Ammi and Appa at the passage way.

"Sure my prince" he replied and followed me out, I noticed that the maids scurried away when they say... I was confused, just what kind of person was I?

Funny part is that I don't even remember most of the things that happened in my first twelve years which I claim to remember.

Maybe just bits and pieces, something is definitely missing but surprisingly enough I am not in a hurry to find out which is kind of strange too.

"How about we take a look around the province, it might help me recover fast.. What do you think?" I asked.

"I don't think that's possible, the indigenes are not aware that you will be out today, they might all get killed"

"What? What's that suppose to mean?"

"Actually there is a law where the commoners are not see your face, the palace workers are an exception though"

I stopped walking.. "Who made such a law?"

"Your father, that law was made when you were ten and you totally agreed to it"

"Ten...." I tapped my head, then why can't I remember? "I don't think I agree to it anymore then, when is the next council meeting?"

"In the next two days" he replied.

"Good, drop a petition for the cancelation of that law, I think it's sheer partiality that the workers are giving the freedom to see me, they are mostly commoners too aren't they"

"You are right my prince" he replied with a smile.

"How many people have been killed in accordance to that law" I suddenly asked as we continued walking.

"None so far, though there was a near case but it was resolved before it could get out of hand"

"What do...."

"Your betrothed is here, Princess Ditya of Pecan" he said in a low whisper as I noticed that we were standing in front of a lady dressed in the royal regalia and three of her maids.

My betrothed, when did I get engaged. One look at this lady as she batted her lashes at me had me cringing in no time. She is nowhere near my type.

So why would I be betrothed to someone like her. "Arranged" Khan whispered to me again.

Arranged. Oh.... Arranged Marriage.

"Hey Jamal" she purred, it took me all my willpower not to scoff at her patethic.... No let's go with lame... Yes, lame attempt to seduce me with her fake voice.

Forgive my outright downgrading of her in no time, I should ask Khan if we ever got along because as it is I don't think we will be anything near getting along. I faked a smile at her and opened my mouth to say something when my eyes caught movement behind her.

Looking closely, I realized that one of Ditya's maid was trying to hide behind her fellow maid. Was she hiding from me? If so... Then why?

Or she can't possibly be hiding from me, I was almost looking away when I saw gather up her skirts and started running off.

She is definitely hiding from me. "Take care of Ditya" I said to Khan and immediately started running after her, I heard Ditya calling my name but I was far from hearing.

I need to know why she is running from me, does she know something about me before I lost my memory? Maybe she could be of help.

"Hey wait" I yelled after her, she ran a few feet's before she finally stopped and turned back.

"Me?" She asked as I moved closer to her.

"Me?" She asked again, taking a step back. Instinctively I drew her close to me and her eyes widened as she stared at me.

This feels familiar. The feel of her body on mine is all so familiar, who is this lady?

"Ja...Jamal" she stammered.

"Where do you think you are running to?" I asked also noticing that she just called me Jamal instead of the 'My Prince' that is known to be said by the maids.

I was right, she knows me more than just a mere master to worker knowledge.

"Why are you running?" I asked her. She blinked and looked down at her hand which I was holding. I released her while she took a step back.

"You can't run again, you know that... Besides you should be punished for making me chase after you like like that.

She shivered as there was a sudden wind which unfortunately released her hair from the band holding it together, sending it flying out.

A wave of déjà vu struck me as I stared at the way the wind caress her hair, her hazel eyes boring into me.

I have witnessed this sight before, the wind blowing her hair sideways, her hazel eyes shining that I am wishing I can drown myself in them.

Her hand grabbed her hair and she tied it again relieving me of my trance. I shook my head as I stared at her.

Something tells me that this girl is the key to having my memory back. "Come with me" I said and turned.

She followed me.

Forbes couldn't believe his ears as Mila finished narrating her patethic story.

Patethic because it was clearly unbelievable and impossible... From the real reason behind his son's curse to her having a child for another man, to her killing him because she didn't want to be caught and in fact killing Naja's mother because of it.

Even the fact Naja's daughter was the one to save his son and she had signed her death sentence now incuring the anger of the young lady on her. Even also that the girl had saved his son because she was obviously in love with him but did not finish the right making his son loose his memory.

As unbelievable as it seems, it was all true... How could she? How could Mila do this to him?

But everyone makes mistakes right, even though deep down he was terribly hurt yet he would not take this far because of his son and the kingdom, because once word get out that there is an issue like thus in the palace everything he has worked for will be crumbled before his very eyes.

He might never forgive her, but he will try not to keep it to heart. Now he just have to find something to tell the council about Jamal's sudden loss of memory because as it is it cannot be kept a secret forever especially when the Sheba is probably in a fit of rage right now and will not be able to help them unless she is calmed.

"Relieve them both of their duties and give them free accommodation within the courts" Forbes said finally after a long silence.

"Them?" Mila asked in confusion.

"Your daughter and the Sheba!, they deserve a better life after you have already taken what matters most to them" Forbes snapped in reply.

"Okay" mlMila replied surprised at the reaction Forbes was given her, she thought he was going to flare up and cuss at her... He was doing none if that, just a blank expression on his face.

"Forbes are you...." She started to ask.

"Get out" he cut her off.

"What?"

"Out of my room Milanie !!" He whispered in a dangerously low tone.

Mila immediately scurried away.
