Chapter 42: Chapter 42

Chapter 42:

Victor’s P.O.V:

I looked up from my phone, temporarily halting my chat with Kendra to watch Daniel pace back and forth in the room like a caged tiger trying to find its way out. Anyone else doing the same actions would have simply classified as pacing, but Daniel was a big man. He seemed to suck all the space out of the room.

He’s been doing that ever since we’d all gotten dressed and the guests had started arriving. Even though he didn’t say anything, worry and nervousness were painted across his face in bold letters.

Daniel looks nervous as hell. I think we should continue this tonight, when we’re alone. See you soon, honey. I texted Kendra, interrupting the very important discussion we were having over honeymoon destinations to focus on the groom.

“You know, you guys could’ve just eloped like we did?” I pointed out. “There would’ve been no need to worry if my sister will be backing out of this wedding, not that she ever would, and it would’ve also saved a ton of money.”

“Hell no!” Daniel’s cousin, Kevin Vitale, protested immediately. “We need to witness with our own eyes how the mighty Daniel Romano becomes a slave!”

We all burst out laughing at the statement while Daniel gave us a sour look. “Just wait till your own wedding little brat!” He snapped at his cousin while the rest of us enjoyed the show.

“Would you stop pacing, boy? You’re giving me a headache.” George Vitale, Daniel’s oldest uncle complained while his younger brother Mike nodded in agreement. Both men, in their fifties, had gone a little overboard with the alcohol consumption last night at Daniel’s bachelor party, and as a result, both of them held huge ice packs over their head, nursing what had to be a killer hangover.

It was then that the doors to the Groom’s chamber were flung open and in walked…Daniel? I blinked several times make sure I wasn’t still intoxicated, but when the images remained the same, I figured the problem wasn’t with my eyesight.

Daniel number two was wearing a navy blue Armani suit with a white shirt underneath, unlike Daniel’s classic black tux, and the two Daniel’s met halfway across the room and pulled each other into a back slapping hug. No one else seemed to be bothered by the fact that the two men looked exactly the same. In fact, everyone had huge ass smiles on their faces.

“I was worried you wouldn’t be able to make it.” Daniel said to navy blue Daniel as they parted.

“I almost didn’t,” he smiled, his voice huskier, deeper than Daniel’s. “But I couldn’t miss my little brother’s wedding for the world.”

Of course, this was Daniel’s brother! Why did it take so long for me to realize that?

“Tory,” Daniel called out. “Meet my older brother, Damien Romano. And Damien, this is Victor Summers.” He pointed towards me.

“Ah! The brother-in-law.” Damien walked closer and held out his hand as I stood up to shake it. “Nice to finally meet you. Grace spoke a lot about you and Kendra.”

“Unfortunately, I cannot say the same about you.” I almost cringed at how wrong that sounded. “Daniel hardly has time for us.”

But Damien only barked out a laugh. “Tell me about it.”

This close, I could finally spot the differences between the two brothers. Although they had appeared like twins at first, but now I could tell that Damien looked slightly older, more refined. His eyes weren’t the electric blue as Daniel’s, but rather a paler shade of blue. And of course, a he had a dimple on his right cheek that made an appearance as he smiled at me.

“Hey, Dam!” Kevin was next in line to give him a hug. “Why didn’t you get here early? You missed all the fun!”

Damien affectionately tussled up Kevin’s hair, much to his dismay and went to hug his two uncles. “Oh, the fun is just beginning kiddo!” He told Kevin as he desperately tried to fix his blonde hair.

A knock at the door had all of our heads turning in that direction. Dad stood by the door, his blue tie a dash of colour against the all white shirt and suite he’d decided to wear today.

“Alright men, it’s time.” Dad told everyone with a gigantic smile on his face, the happiest I’ve ever seen him, before his eyes turned to Damien. “Ah! You must be Daniel’s older brother! Damien, was it?”

“Yes, Sir.” Damien went over to greet him and the two men shook hands.

“Please, call me Michael.” Dad told him before he took in his attire. “I don’t think blue was the theme here.”

“It’s alright Michael,” Daniel told him. “My brother just flew in from Montana. I don’t think he needs to change, besides, the best man can wear whatever he prefers, right?”

“Absolutely! Now get going all of you, don’t let the guests waiting.” Dad said before he headed towards the bride’s room.

I saw Daniel anxiously glance down the hall before we all stepped out of the room. Kevin, Mike and George all headed towards the front seats while Damien and I followed Daniel towards the isle.

“Daniel, who’s gonna be the Maid of Honour?” Damien asked as we approached the door to the Church.

“You haven’t met her yet, it’s Tatiana, Grace’s other best friend.” Daniel informed him.

“I see.”

And then the music started to play and it was Daniel’s cue to go stand at the altar. He looked nervous as Hell and for the thousandth time, I was glad for our whirlwind wedding at Vegas. I don’t think I could ever stand in front of a crowd of room and repeat my wedding vows, I’d be scared to death about making any mistakes.

One by one, the brides maids started to enter through the hallway where the bride’s room was. My Kendra was up first and it took me a while to realize that the woman in straight, waist long blonde hair with a tiara on her head was actually my little wild hellion wife. But of course, no one else had that fluid grace, that charming smile and those warm blue eyes.

From the corner of my eyes, I saw Damien looking out for Tatiana, since anyone could tell that Kendra was my partner. And Ty wasn’t that far behind. I didn’t notice any further interactions between Tatiana and Damien because I was too busy looking at my wife. And then the music changed to cure the entry of the Best Man and the Maid of Honour, followed by my entry with Kendra, and the wedding was in full swing.
