Chapter 33: A Miracle
Antony’s P.O.V:
“It’s a miracle!” The healer exclaimed while inspecting Lance’s perfectly healed shoulder. “I’ve never seen such a severe wound heal so quickly! But, how is this even possible?”
“Let’s not get into any details for now, Hanshaw.” I smiled politely at the older man. “Lance is better now, that’s all that matters. But, thank you for all your help.”
“It’s my duty, Your Highness.” Hanshaw bowed his head before was on his way out of Lance’s room.
We were currently at Sanctium, a dimension that was inhabited my all supernatural creatures. It’s a sanctuary for every supernatural creature ever born, without human influence. And it’s also the place where most of the Royalty resides. And I had to thank the Gods that the person I had wanted to contact was at Sanctium when I needed them the most.
I came and sat beside Lance on the bed, waiting for him to regain consciousness. If their estimation was right, Lance should wake up very soon, and thanks to the time difference between our world and Sanctium, we can get back to our world without having wasted much time.
“Where is my son?” The door flung open at that instant, revealing the King of all Incubi, Zaccai Eustis.
Anyone who looked at him will immediately be able to tell that he and Lance were related. They were exact carbon copies of each other. Same height, same hair, same eyes, even the same features. The only thing different was that you could tell that King Zaccai was older. More than that, he had a stronger aura around him that Lancelot was yet to develop; an aura that represented age and power.
“Lancelot!” He was immediately at Lance’s side.
“Who did this?” He roared at the guards, but none of them answered. Simply lowered their heads.
“Your Highness,” I called calmly and his attention was immediately snapped to me. “May I shed some light into the situation?”
“What are you waiting for, boy? Tell me exactly what happened.” He said patiently, although I could tell he was itching to shred someone to pieces.
But before I could narrate to my stepfather what had gone down in the ballroom, one of the Queen’s guards came running into the room without asking for permission.
“You Highness!” He kept repeating while panting with his hands on his knees.
“What is it? Why did you enter unannounced?” The King snapped, making the guard even more nervous.
“Her Highness…she…” the guard looked uncomfortably from me to the King.
“Go on,” I told him politely to ease his nervousness. “What about mother?”
“She…she sent that human girl to Shadowland!” The guard said before collapsing on the floor.
“What!” Both the King and I rose from our seats to face the guard.
“How is that possible? Shadowland is forbidden to everyone! How did she even know how to open a portal to that dimension?” The King asked astounded.
“Your Highness, the Queen didn’t open the portal alone…Melinda Valentino was with her…” the guard said meekly. And it made a Hell lot more sense now.
“Melinda?” The King sneered. “Why is she back now? Hasn’t she caused enough havoc already?”
“Your Highness, I think she must have something to do with this. I’ll tell you exactly what happened.” So I told the King about Anaya, about what her relationship with Lance was and how her father turned out to a hunter and how, to save his daughter from Lancelot, the hunter had fought with him and ultimately succeeded in injuring him.
King Zaccai listened patiently to the entire story, before he came to any conclusions. “Take me to the hunter. Where is he now?” he finally asked.
“In the dungeons.” I informed him.
He nodded. “You stay here with Lancelot; I’ll go have a chat with him.”
No soon than the King left that Lance woke up with a start. “Anna!” Were his first words.
“Hey, calm down.” I tried to reassure him, but Lance was already sitting up in bed, trying to get out. “Lance, you need to calm down!”
“How the fuck can I calm down when Anna isn’t here with me?” He snapped at me. “Please tell me you didn’t leave her with mother or Melinda?”
I lowered my head in shame. “Lance…actually…”
But then, Lance finally noticed that his body was completely healed. “Who fixed this?” He asked surprised.
“I did.” The person finally came out of the shadows. “It wasn’t an easy task, but I managed to fix you on time.”
“Miaka?” Lance got up to pull our little sister, the Demon King, in a hug.
“I thought you’d left…” I spoke unsurely.
“Oh no! I was quietly standing in the shadows, watching all the drama unfold.” Miaka flipped her long hair over her shoulder before looking up at Lance. “Get dressed quick, big brother because your girlfriend seems to be in a Hell lot of trouble.”
“Shit!” Lance cussed before quickly pulling on a T-shirt. “We need to get back right now.”
“Yeah, let’s go.”
We all got out the bedroom door and called out to the guards as we headed to an empty space for creating a portal. In the meantime, Miaka filled Lance in on all the details. We could all feel Lance’s temper seething through his skin, but he kept quiet, letting the anger grow.
But just before we went through the portal, my cell phone started ringing with an unknown number. I’d almost disconnected the line, noting the urgency of the situation, but something made me pick it up at the last instance.
“Who is this?” I snapped.
“Antony, its Keith, Melinda’s Scribt!” He said in a hurry. “There’s something really important that you need to know.”
Melinda’s P.O.V:
The anger I had felt towards that good for nothing human for running out on me, dissipated just as quickly as it had formed. Anyways, it’s a good thing that he’s gone too. He’d served his purpose and he’s let me know the one little detail that had been enough to cause so much trouble.
How perfect this day had turned out for me? First, Queen Jalyna shows up to Lance’s new hotel. Then the hunter had showed up to scare his little daughter and ultimately, fight with Lance over her.
Lance being injured was only a slight glitch in the plan, because if he doesn’t survive, how will I get the crown? - But I do believe he got what he deserved for choosing a weak little human over me.
“How do you plan on explaining to Lance about his little Scribt?” The Queen asked me as we stood in the empty ballroom.
I smirked. “Me? Your Highness, if I’m not mistaken, you’re the one who ordered me and all the guards to stay out of your way so you could throw her into Shadowland.” I turned to face her with my arms folded across my chest. “What has poor, innocent little me got to do with any of this? It was all your doing, Your Highness.”
“What are you talking about?” Queen Jalyna bared her teeth. “You were the one who shoved her into Shadowland! And how did you even know how to open a portal to that world? It’s forbidden for everyone!”
“Well, it isn’t that forbidden if I could open a portal to that place, isn’t it?” I asked her. “But enough chit-chat for now, I have to get going. Good luck explaining this His Highness, Milady. ”
With that said, I walked away from the Queen, wiping my hands off on my already ruined dress. It wasn’t a pleasant feeling to get a seventy thousand dollar Gucci dress ruined, but the blood on it was proof that I was the one who helped Lance when he was down.
I pressed the elevator door and waited for it to open. However, as soon as the doors opened, several of the King’s guards surrounded me, pointing their swords at my throat.
“What are you doing!” I screeched. “I’m not the culprit here! Capture her!” I pointed towards the Queen, but the guards stayed in place.
“You know,” a voice came from the back of the elevator. “In Kindergardenth, we were taught that when you point one finger at someone, three fingers point back at you.”
“Who are you?” I shrieked. “Show yourself.”
“My, my,” my eyes widened in disbelief as the girl came out of the elevator to stand behind the guards with Lance and Antony on either side. “I’ve never seen someone this eager to see me.”
“La-Lance?” I asked unsure. How can it be him? That hunter nearly tore him in half!
“Oh! Poor baby!” Miaka mocked. “You were hoping he’d be down for longer and no one would find out that you manipulated Queen Jalyna and your little Scribt into doing your dirty work?”
“I’m afraid it doesn’t end there,” we all turned to find the King coming out of another portal right next to the elevator door. “You were the one who fed the hunter false information that my son was holding his daughter against her will, that he was using his powers to manipulate her.”
“What?” Lance turned to me with bleeding red eyes. “How dare you!”
“Save your energy son, we can deal with her later.” King Zaccai stopped him. “I think it’ll be wise for us to try and save Anna, if we still can.”
“We can!” Lance snapped. “She’s alive and she needs my help.”
“But Son, its Shadowland. No one’s ever come out of it alive.” The Queen spoke for the first time since everyone arrived. I’d forgotten the bitch was still present.
“Well, I guess there’s a first for everything.” Lance looked down at the little Princess, Miaka. “Let’s get going.”
“Come on.” With that, brother and sister walked hand in hand to the nearest wall and the little slut began creating a portal to Shadowland, ruining all my hard work.
Now, all I could wish for was that the bitch was already dead, or I’ll have to come up with some other plan to kill her myself.
