Chapter 1717: Chapter 1718 Fighting
“Auntie, I also suspect it’s the assassin from yesterday!”
Su Yunjin nodded while looking at Aunt Bao.
Aunt Bao glanced towards the doorway, then said to Su Yunjin, “Madam, here’s what I’ll do! I’ll go and take a look. You stay inside and wait for my news.”
Aunt Bao planned to go out and investigate the situation, but Su Yunjin quickly pulled her back.
“Auntie, it’s dangerous outside with swords and daggers. You better not go out.” Su Yunjin thought of Aunt Liang from earlier, and witnessing Aunt Bao now. Aunt Liang, upon hearing about assassins, was frightened to the point of being unable to help, yet Aunt Bao was the opposite; hearing there were assassins, she was not afraid and even wanted to go investigate.
Su Yunjin prevented Aunt Bao from going out. Aunt Bao looked at Su Yunjin, thought for a moment, and realized Su Yunjin made a valid point. The current fight outside is fierce, and if she goes out now, she might accidentally get hurt by swords, or worse, lose her life. “Madam, then let’s wait until Xue Chu and Hong Wu handle those assassins, and then it’s not too late for us to inquire.” Newest update provıded by 𝕟𝕠𝕧𝕖𝕝⚑𝕗𝕚𝕣𝕖⚑𝕟𝕖𝕥
Su Yunjin planned precisely this; once Xue Chu and Hong Wu dealt with those assassins, they would surely come and report back about the happenings outside.
Neither she nor Aunt Bao knew kung fu, so even going out wouldn’t be of any aid, and might even become a burden to Xue Chu and the others. Su Yunjin sat down in the courtyard, with Aunt Bao attending beside her. Neither spoke, with Su Yunjin wholly focused on listening to the sounds of fighting outside. Through the sound of clashing swords, Su Yunjin discerned that the assassins weren’t many; the noises were intense but not chaotic, indicating not many were engaged in combat simultaneously. However, this also pointed to another issue: the ones who came were all skilled fighters.
“The boss’s purpose today is to take away the woman surnamed Su. You all step aside for the boss. Once the boss takes the woman surnamed Su, he won’t make things difficult for others.” The man forcefully thrust his spear forward, nearly overwhelming Hong Wu, but fortunately, Xue Chu came to Hong Wu’s aid. “Shut your filthy mouth! Want to take our Madam Gu away? Your grandpa Xue won’t allow it!”
Xue Chu slashed crosswise with his sword, and Spearman barely managed to block, almost getting wounded by Xue Chu. Without giving Spearman any chance to react, Xue Chu swung his sword at Spearman again, and after several moves, Spearman visibly struggled, unable to stand his ground. Hong Wu noticed Spearman couldn’t match Xue Chu and seized the opportunity to counterattack Spearman’s rear.
This put Spearman in a bind, exhausted from fighting on both fronts.
Su Yunjin and Aunt Bao inside the courtyard clearly heard the dialogue happening outside. Aunt Bao’s face showed anger, “Madam, those assassins outside are indeed coming for you.”
Su Yunjin furrowed her brow looking at Aunt Bao. Strangely, Su Yunjin felt the voice of the man outside sounded familiar. Where had she heard it before?
She couldn’t recall it for the moment.
Su Yunjin tried hard to remember but couldn’t think of where she had heard that man’s voice when Aunt Bao noticed her silence, thinking she was worried.
“Madam, no need to worry. The young master arranged so many people outside to protect you and the young masters, surely nothing will happen.” Aunt Bao comforted Su Yunjin, reassuring her not to be too scared.
Su Yunjin snapped back to reality, realizing Aunt Bao misunderstood, smiled, and said, “Auntie, I’m not worried. It’s just that hearing that person’s voice seemed familiar, like I had heard it somewhere before?”
Where had she heard it?
Suddenly, Su Yunjin smacked her forehead, “I’ve got it, I remember now.”
