Chapter 6: Chapter 6
Arriving at the Wialtrama, we briefly greeted Eddie and then ran through the black double doors to immediately realize behind the curtain that the house was full.
I had never seen so many unfamiliar faces here before and I felt uneasy. I stood there and looked over at the little one on my hand to see that she also looked quite overwhelmed.
"What's the matter with you guys?" Ethan said annoyed and stood right in front of me. "There's a table up ahead, but if you want to keep putting down roots here, that's fine too."
He folded his arms and waited for a reaction until I pulled Lou close to my side and we followed Jayden, who sat first at the table. I sat across from him and Lou right next to me while Ethan went to order drinks.
Lou talked to her brother about Chiara and I only listened to them casually, because my gaze was fixed on Ethan, who was just coming towards us again and suddenly I saw Alec sitting at the counter behind him, whose eyes were fixed on my little one.
I looked away from him immediately, otherwise I would have probably ripped his head off and took a beer from Ethan, who sat down next to me and stared at me questioningly.
"What's wrong with you?" he asked and I took a few sips of my beer before answering him.
"Nothing, everthing is fine."
He leaned back in his chair and sipped his whiskey while Lou and Jayden giggled in amusement at something.
My heart leaped when I heard her soft, sweet laughter over the loud music, but I couldn't enjoy it any longer because my eyes fell back on Alec, who was watching her with such fascination that I almost burst my collarbone.
"I have to go to the toilet," I hissed and got up so frantically that my chair fell backwards.
"Chace?", I heard Lou ask, but I walked straight past the counter to the toilet without looking at this guy again. I yanked open the door and immediately stood at one of the two sinks, trembling with anger, to look in the mirror, frustrated at the situation. My green eyes glared at me with hatred, but I avoided my reflection and turned on cold water to wash my face. The cooling down was really good for me and I took a few more deep breaths to collect myself.
Somewhat in control again, I opened the door and immediately the music blared loudly in my ears and colored lights flew through the room. I went straight back to the others and noticed to my relief that Alec was no longer at the bar. Immediately my mood improved a little, even if it all still weighed heavily on my shoulders.
"What do you say to that?" Lou snapped me out of my thoughts with a smile and I looked back and forth between her and the boys questioningly.
"Sorry, I wasn't listening."
I leaned forward to join their conversation.
"Both of them suggested that we take care of the little ones one evening at the weekend so that they have some time to themselves," she explained to me and I gave them a friendly nod.
"No problem at all," I said and drank my beer in one gulp, whereupon I immediately offered to get more.
I meandered through the dancing people straight to the counter to get rid of the empty bottles first and then to order new ones. I passed the time of waiting by looking over the dance floor. How carefree everyone danced. It amused me and I couldn't help but listen to the music and close my eyes for a moment. One of my favorite songs was playing, which seemed calm and thoughtful, but was still good to go with.
"Here, please," I heard the barman say behind me, and then I turned around quickly to take the three bottles and make my way back to the table.
I skilfully danced my way through the crowd again, but suddenly I ran into someone and the worst part was that the poor girl fell down too. I immediately handed my bottles to a girl next to me and helped the blonde up, whose look into my eyes suddenly made everything around me fade.
The music quieted down and the lights moved in slow motion and everything but her blue eyes blurred as if she were the only thing that existed besides me.
"Thank you," she whispered, staring at me as I pulled her up by her hand and she stopped right in front of me.
She was close to me, hardly anything would have fit between us and I couldn't take my eyes off her, no matter how loud everything inside me was screaming to get away, I couldn't. She tied me up, ripped my mind out of my head and made my heart beat in time with hers.
"My name is Samira," was the last thing I heard before I forced myself to let go of her hands and run away.
Though I spoke attentively to my brother, I kept glancing over at my friend who was standing at the counter and seemed to be enjoying the music. A small smile tugged at my lips as I watched him dance his way through the crowd until he suddenly bumped into a girl who immediately fell forward.
I immediately wanted to get up and help, but Jayden grabbed my arm and briefly my attention was on him.
"Did you hear?" he asked, but I didn't even remember what we were talking about. He apparently realized I had stopped listening because he rolled his eyes and repeated himself.
"Is Saturday 8 p.m. okay then?"
"Yes!", I answered him hurriedly and then wanted to go to Chace, but I didn't see him anymore. The blonde was now back on her feet and looked towards the exit, which surprised me.
"What's the matter with you today?" my brother asked me and I looked at him confused.
"Chace's gone," I told him and he got up to look around the club.
"Probably in the bathroom," Ethan said, sighing in annoyance. "Doesn't the guy have any freedom with you, or did he just forget to ask your permission?"
I glared at Ethan and got up to go see for myself. I carefully fought my way through the people who didn't really notice me because of my small appearance and again and again I accidentally got elbowed by people.
When I got to the restrooms and looked at the men's sign, I hesitated, but then just pulled open the brown door and walked in, hoping Chace would be there.
I went to the sink and took a quick look at myself before turning towards the cubicles.
"Chace?" I whispered, but not a peep came back. I cautiously approached the three cabins and with small steps towards the wall, I opened one after the other to realize with frustration that there really was nobody here.
I immediately ran out again and looked around the whole club again, but no sign. I was starting to panic and my heart was beating wildly, at least that's what it felt like.
Looking at the counter, I noticed that Alec wasn't there either, but since when? I'd only noticed him very briefly once, when I saw Chace look his way. I hope they don't leave together, I thought and ran towards the exit, but not without bumping into someone.
"Where in such a hurry?" Ludwig smiled at me and looked questioningly into my eyes.
"I'm looking for Chace."
"He was just outside."
I immediately turned away from the angel and pushed aside the curtain to step out of the black door and take in the cold, but there was no one there except Eddie, who was sitting on his stool, playing on his cell phone.
I didn't want to ask him about Chace, so I did the only thing that made sense. I clutched my hands to my chest as if to protect myself from the cold, then quickly ran home.
The forest was pitch black and without my private moon there was nothing to protect me from getting caught on a root and falling sideways into the undergrowth.
"Shit, man!" I cursed, clutching my back in pain as I slowly got to my feet.
My anger at Chace grew more and more, with every stitch that hurt my back and I stomped the rest of the way to the hut, where I then angrily opened the door.
I took a deep breath to vent my frustration, but it wasn't there. I ran to the bedroom and bathroom in a panic, but I couldn't find him there either. I paused in the hallway for a moment, feeling abandoned, especially as Alec might be watching me. I hated being here alone anyway, why did he just run away?
I walked back into the living room and was about to go back to the Wialtrama when the door opened and I immediately smiled in relief. When Jayden walked in with Ethan, my smile quickly faded.
"Did you find the runaway?" Ethan asked, grinning stupidly. He made it really hard for me not to yell at him. My pulse was already threatening to explode.
"No! But you can transform yourself and look for him! Please," I said to my brother, who then nodded to Ethan and together they left the hut again.
I sat down on the couch, breathing heavily, contemplating this strange situation. It was so out of character for Chace to just walk away. He had never done that before.
What if he was intercepted by Alec? What if he was fighting with him right now?
I stood up gasping for breath, imagining Alec's huge bulk. His muscles, his menacing voice, the temper in his eyes.
With all this chaos in my head, I went over to the window and stared into the darkness, hoping Chace would just show up with a smile on his face, but he didn't, even then, still not when the first ones were Sunbeams shone through the trees.
