Chapter 36: Chapter 36
"Blake! Trust me. I'm alright." I gave him a pity look while my inter mind was ready to burst out of anger. For these days I was acting like a drama queen. For a second I was in a happy mode and in an instant it changes into sour.
"Your cold coffee cooled my burning body." I admit truthfully. Just a while ago my body was burning like someone threw fuel on me and ignited the fire, but after I drank the whole coffee which Blake made for me, I feel good. But he was not convinced yet.
"Please take rest." He pleaded instead; his eyes were roaming through my body as scanning my whole inner tissues whether it was cooled down nor still burning.
"Okay--" I let out a defeated sigh. "Just one mail." I said while typing furiously regarding my sincere apology for why I didn't show up today and ordering Emiem to take care of the session.
"You still feel nausea?" Blake led me towards the couch, his eyes still scanning my body.
"It's better now." I slumped on the couch and pulled him down. He landed on the couch with a heavy thud as I felt the couch dripped a bit.
"You put weight on your already bulky muscle?" I teased for which he scratched the back of his neck awkwardly.
"I'm just happy." He kissed my forehead before his head landed on my lap. I smiled looking down at him while raking his smooth silky hair through my fingers.
As a response, he wrapped his hand around my waist and pulled me closer. "You made me a real man." He buried his face on the valley of my waist and I felt a deep wet kiss on my waist.
"Stay here." He murmured when I was about to grab the pillow.
"Now I feel like you are my little baby." I cooed.
"I'm." His reply was instant.
"At least can you please hand over the diary to me?" I pointed to the table where I kept both the diaries which were a mere inch away from him.
Groaning widely he stretched his hands and gave me both the diaries not bothering to ask what is this. "Thank you, baby." I kissed his forehead before put my diary near the nightstand.
'Ding Dong! Ding Dong'
I heard the doorbell when I was about to turn the page. Furrowing my brows I looked at Blake who has a frustrated expression on his face as his sweet sleep was disturbed by an unknown person who was standing in front of our hut.
"I will see who has come." I gently placed his head on the couch before stood on the floor with my legs. "You don't get any visitors until it was Rakesh and I'm damn sure he will be busy with Emiem. So don't think to scare my visitors with your murderous glare." I warned that shut his mouth immediately.
Shaking my head I made my way towards the door and yanked the door open but froze on the spot when I spotted a familiar face who was giving me a warm smile that didn't fail to brighten up my mood.
"MoMmy!!" I ran into her open arms and engulfed her in a tight hug. "Reil." She rubbed my back.
"What-- What are you doing here?" I furrowed my brows not getting the point of why she is here.
"Surprise!!" She grinned widely. "Mom! At least you have to tell me. I would have come to the airport." I whined.
"Ahh!! My poor girl." She pouted her lips while tucking the strand of hair behind my ears. "You are glowing." She looked at me amusingly.
What's this glowing sound I'm hearing recently for the hundredth times? I'm just like plain paper.
"Hey--" A small cough interrupted our daughter and mother moments that sent me a giddy feeling to my stomach. Geezz!!! I didn't tell my mom about my marriage.
"Hey! Blake." I fidgeted my fingers nervously. "Mom. It's Blake. I-I'm I'm...staying with him." I said not bothering to look straight into her eyes.
My mom gave me a questioning look which silently asked me 'Is that so' in a mocking tone. "Hello, ma'am." Blake stretched his hand for a polite handshake.
"Mo-m! Come inside." I dragged her inside our home. As expected I heard her gasp when we descended our path. Once we reached the hall I made her sit on the couch when Blake went to the kitchen to prepare our brunch.
"So, you moved on!" My mom teased which completely take me off guard. Of all these questions she preferred to ask this question!! "I thought it won't be possible when your ex broke up with you when you were sixteen." My mom gave me a knowing look that made me flush out of embarrassment.
"Mom! That was the past." I huffed playfully. I celebrated my grieves for almost a month and when my mom said I will find another, I said I won't tie my life with anyone. All the boys are a cheater. Huh!! But now I already tied my life with my love that my mom wasn't aware of a bit.
"Fed was right." She let out a small sigh. "What did he say?" I gulped down. No wonder why she is acting cool as a cucumber. She knew everything but she is expecting me to spill the beans.
"That you are in safe hands." She smiled. Thank God! He didn't tell her about my marriage. "I thought the poor boy would end up with you." She looked heavenwards. Hooo! She seriously has no idea... I shook my internal mind.
"You are not mad at me?" I eagerly waited for her reply from the moment I let out the question.
"Why should I?" She playfully narrowed her eyes at me. "It's your life, Reil. Who I'm to oppose you." She rubbed my palm. "I know your choice would be better than anyone." She smiled a genuine smile. "It reminded me of the day when I met your dad." She chuckled but the sadness in her eyes doesn't unnoticed by me.
"Huh!! Brunch ready." Blake stood near the dining table, his gaze didn't leave my face.
"Darling! As much as I wanted to spend my time with you, I afraid I can't. My flight is 5 pm." My mom heaved a defeated sigh.
"So you are here to visit my grandparents, not me." I folded my hands against my chest. Today their death anniversary and my mom never failed to visit them even after my dad's death. She considers her's in-laws as her own parents.
"That stupid boy booked the tickets today evening instead of tomorrow." She pouted her lips.
"Ohh." I twisted my lips.
"Shall we go for the outing? After that, you can drop me at the airport." Her face lit up like sunshine.
"Good idea." I cheered.
"Huhmm!! Why don't we eat our brunch before you go to the outing?" Blake gained our attention. What's he meant 'you go outside?'
"You are not coming?" I furrowed my brows.
"Enjoy your girl time." He winked at me. Silly boy.
Not wanting to waste our other precious second by staring at each other, we ate our brunch and my mom praised him every then and now as she didn't eat anything tasty like this in her entire life.
"Blake?" My mom called his name which gave me a Goosebumps in my stomach. Did she notice the wedding ring in his hand? Shhh!! I should have told him to remove the ring. God! Please save me from this awkward moment.
"By chance-" Her sentence hung in the air whereas she was studying his features thoroughly. Her perfect eyebrows furrowed deeper than the dark sea as she was trying to recall something but it was stuck somewhere between her faint memory.
"May I know you?" Huh!! That's it?!
Ridiculous!
Ab..surd!
I laughed internally. Blake is an Indian guy even though his appearance didn't suit him as an Indian whereas my mom is a complete foreigner. She hadn't stayed more than two days a year in India and that's happened when my dad took us for a visit. There is no chance she met him before unless his parents belong to Texas, that's still a puzzle to me.
"You are looking so familiar. The one-- the one very close to me. But I don't remember who?" My mom tapped her chin not bothering to take her eyes off him.
"Mommm!!" I gave Blake one apologetic look before dragging her away from home. I explained everything to her as what happened to his parents, somehow that didn't shut her mouth. She was kept saying Blake seems familiar to her eyes. Old lady! I can't blame her.
But diverting her mind was easy than I thought. Thanks to my gossiping skills.
We went to the mall, amusement park and later on parlour but things didn't turn out as I expected. I hid my dread feeling until my mom boarded the flight. With heavy shoulders, I reached our home sharp at 5.50 pm.
"I was worried about you." Blake hugged me and when he felt my cold body against his warm embrace he asked worriedly: "What happened to you?" And then cupped my face.
"I'm tired, Blake." I removed the slipper before climbed on the bed not bothering to take a shower. He nodded his head but didn't utter any words.
"Blake?" Without my consent, the following words came out. "Do-- do you have twins?" I regretted the moment those words slipped out of my mouth, but I know I can't retrieve it by any cost.
"No!" He chuckled. I was with Blake since my marriage happened and there is no way Heil would--- "I will bring your coffee." I heard him say.
I closed my eyes as pretending like I was really tired. Meanwhile, her words echoed through my brain as every sentence stabbed my body mercilessly. "Mam. You already have black hair. You sure you want to colour your hair black?" I boldly said I have blonde hair even showed her a photo of my ten-year-old where I had blonde hair.
As a result, she plucked one hair without my permission and showed the root which was completely black as night. She then sprayed the chemical on the hair which suddenly turned back into its original colour blonde, except for the root. She said my growing hair is black, not blonde. She even asked me to consult a good doctor as it was some weird case.
The book is the key to all my unanswered questions. Am I ready to face reality?
With a trembling hand, I opened the diary and read the article. 'My skin is glowing, my hair is shining, and I’m getting fat beside this nausea made my day worst as hell. I felt this symptom when I was pregnant with my first baby-'
First baby? Heil has a brother? Did he know?? Oh! God!! It's fucking unbelievable!!
'I consulted a doctor without my husband because he was busy with his work. Seems he doesn't care about this baby. He was a caring husband until last month when we arrived in India-'
Fuck!! They are not Indians!!! How many diamonds are buried in this wet grass? Flipping another page I continued on reading.
'-All of a sudden he showered me with lots of love as how we were back then. He took me to his lab and personally hired a doctor to monitor my baby's every growth but that didn't sit well with my soft brain.
Every day the lady, who seemed in her sixty, injected me a liquid just above my belly button. I was nervous as hell and decided to ask her what's happening and then she said it's normal in first delivery; my body is very delicate to carry a baby.
That clearly told me that they are using my baby for their fucking research because it's not my first baby. And the previous day, I was happened to overhear my husband's conversation with his friend about the research but didn't think that he would use my baby.
'I was scared so I didn't ask him about the research. Every time--'
"Reil?!" I shut the diary before shoving it inside the drawer. My heartbeat has no boundaries as it was beating like a thunderstorm. What would have happened to that poor woman? Oh! My God!!!
"Come! Here your favorite Espresso." Blake threw me a small smile while his eyes scanning my body up and down.
"Yea-" I have to stop here. I can't read further while Blake was staying with me. I'm already on the verge of crying and I don't want to break down in front of him.
I will get the answer to my question, even will get the harmonic changes behind my appearance. I'm not pregnant, that I'm really grateful for this moment. If I'm, it belongs to Blake. So I have no worries, but again, why these changes?
Eying the diary one last time I decided to take a break. Heil's background was not as bad as I thought. Neither something worst must have happened to him nor his mother, that would change him like a real monster.
