CHAPTER 18
NEOLA
So, how to live normally after the grandeur I've been used to for the past few weeks?
I cup my face with both of my hands, staring at the passing cars. I just arrived a couple of hours ago, my suitcases still unopen. Little Maple is still sleeping inside her cage. I sigh and stood.
Stretching, I decided to lounge on the bare bed. I laid down on it, with no care in the world. The sudden laziness crept on me as soon as I arrive here in Canada.
Oh how I miss my French quarters. The plush carpet and Victorian halls are to die for. Not to mention the exquisite view of the mountain and the sweet breeze coming from the beach.
But what I miss the most is him. I miss running my hands on his hair and settling close to his chest, falling asleep to his heartbeat. After we've had our lunch yesterday, Luke appointed Edam to take me at the airport.
I can almost feel my heart breaking again as I remember his hands on my cheek. We stood there, hidden. Edam parked the car just beyond the garage, away from the curious glances of the castle. Luke kisses my lips then my forehead, and he lingers there for a while. Tears slowly fell on my cheek and he brush them once again before whispering that he loves me. He brush my hair, patting it gently as he gave me a sad smile. He pulled my jacket and zip it up, then he proceed with my scarf. He gently tugs it as fix it on my neck. We stayed like that for a while, just staring at each other for a while. Then it was time for me to leave. I pulled at his coat as he led me inside the limo, caressing my cheek once again, I plead for him to go with me. He just shook his head, lean in to kiss me before closing the door.
I snap out of the memory, pouted my lips and cup my face once again. How can I look for something normal after the extravagance I have experienced? It was once in a lifetime. I felt very unfortunate to be living in an apartment as mundane as my past.
Brushing my jeans off, I decided to sit by my window. I snatch my sketch book in front of my bag and started drawing. The sun shone delicately, I wanted to capture it in full magnificence.
I put some snacks for little Maple, scratch her ear and grab my phone and wallet. I went out of my room and whistled. The halls are filled with laughter and more French and English greetings. Nodding, I proceed down the stairs and breathe out as I felt the winter breeze. Slowly, I walk towards the park.
People around me mind their own business, and that's better. It was great that they haven't introduce me yet as the crown princess. In that way, I can avoid the paparazzi. Settling on the chair, I sat and suddenly remembered him as I look at the chair across me.
It would be great if he is here, sitting in front of me, laughing at my silly expression. I huff, deciding to vacate the chair and settle down beside the maple tree. Sighing, I took out my tools and began drawing. The Fairmont Hotel stood by the distance and it reminds me of the castle I lived in.
I outline the building, paying attention to its majestic windows and the trees surrounding it. I was halfway through finishing my artwork when a woman called out. "Help me, please," her cries startles me. "Please, help my baby." She says, cradling her toddler on her arms.
I threw my sketchbook down and rush towards them, "What happen?" I inquired, but the mother is busy crying. She pulled at my coat and cried, "Help my baby girl, please." I stared at the little girl slowly turning purple. Grabbing her, I sat on the bench and lied her down on my knee, tapping her back.
It was very crucial, people are already gathering. Some of them counseling the mother while others are calling for an ambulance. I concentrated on clearing the airways of the little girl. It took me a while but when she finally cough out, I breathe out a sigh of relief.
The crowd cheered. I felt like some kind of a superstar who have nailed a million dollar performance. Everyone is clapping. Everyone is cheering. It was a great welcome coming from the citizens of the Maple country.
The small grape lied innocently on the pavement as I watch the mother console the little girl. She was crying, her face red as she grabs her mom. The woman bowed at me, her face flooded with happiness. I watch as they walk away, the little girl staring at me, her eyes still glassy.
The crowd that has gathered has dispersed and soon I was left there, alone once again. Like nothing so major happened. Dusting my pants off, I settled back on my personal space when I notice my sketchbook missing. Frowning, I stood and began looking for it.
There I spotted a little corgi prancing about with my sketchbook between its teeth. The little mutt. I chase it around the park and huff as it ran. I appear like a crazy hobo chasing off a little dog. It was making my blood boil. I chase it as it went under the chairs and to the stairs. I chase it around the park, my sketchbook now dripping with slobber. Geez, it was pretty quick witted. I am asking for it to stop but it wouldn't heed.
Ugh. If it could only give my sketchbook back to me I can live in peace.
I stumbled twice and my coat is already stained from flowing that little dog down a tunnel. I watch when it finally went off to its owner who is just standing there, his back towards me. He appears very familiar I can even recognize him even if he is not facing me. Someone is ringing a bell and I cringe. Crossing my arms over my chest, I walk towards them and prepared to confront the corgi's owner.
But I haven't had the chance to speak when the owner turn towards me. Staring at me with those vivid green eyes and blond mane like hair.
It was him!

"Loisa, Lo-i-saaaaa!" the memory is so vivid I have to be dreaming right now.
Where has this memory been? Have I gotten an amnesia in the past?
I watch as the teenage boy approach me. Golden mane is framing his face. He has the features of a princely character. Freckles dominate his cheeks and those vivid green eyes attacks me with fierceness I couldn't compare.
I watch as he took my artwork. He started climbing the tree. His limbs dangling in every branch while he grabs my artwork in between his teeth. He is smiling, wildly.
I climb the tree, my annoyance and competitiveness is not helping me to think clearly. I slipped twice but held on. When we are high enough, he stopped and I did. "Please give that back!" I ask but he just shakes his head. His hair is so long he appeared to be a blond Tarzan. That made me laugh. It was also a big mistake I have done during that time.
I slipped and fell, struggling as I held on to the branch. Still glaring at the boy, I stubbornly pull myself up. But that made the tree branch snap and I fell, "Loisa!" he jump down from the tree. He inspected my arm and head. My forehead is bleeding, it hurts. He pulled me up and slowly, he carried me on his back.
His back is full of sweat. He is bent down, struggling so hard to carry me. I whimpered. He was so desperate, he doesn't even care when fell down the second time. I can feel the little hiccups he makes every time he sobs.
The house can be seen now. It was near the river. He stumbled again and this time I fell with him. He pulled me up and carried me on his arms instead. His cheeks glistened with sweat and tears. The throbbing pain on my head is weighing me down, making my consciousness blurry. I felt him lowering me down on the porch.
He was wildly knocking, Zia Alonza open the door and was shocked to find me injured. She took me to her arms and ask my Zio Benny to unload the boat. Zia carried me towards the boat, the unbalance stagger of her feet makes me queasy.
I watch as the boat slowly drifted out of there with the teenage boy crying so loud, it echoes within my soul.

As the memory drifted far, I can't help my heart as it beats loud. The recognition I felt is suffocating me I can't breathe.
