Chapter 89: Chapter 89
Not able to see Julian Hawthorne, Helen Hale went directly to block Paige Sterling.
Just as Paige was taking the elevator downstairs, Helen blocked her inside the elevator.
Her eyes were fixed on Paige, and Paige couldn’t possibly not notice.
"Miss Hale, do you have something you need?" Paige asked calmly.
"I have something I want to discuss with Miss Sterling."
Helen’s feelings for Julian were obvious even to the blind.
However, Julian had no interest in her, so Paige naturally didn’t want to bother with Helen.
"Sorry, I’m a bit busy today. Let’s talk another day."
Helen raised her voice, "What’s Miss Sterling busy with? Busy thinking about how to be a good gold digger and squeeze more money out of Julian?"
Some people have peculiar minds, thinking that a woman’s achievements can only come from a man.
It’s understandable if a man thinks this way, but for a woman to think , Paige found it a bit unbelievable.
"Miss Hale, mind your words." ᴛhis chapter is ᴜpdated by 𝓷𝓸𝓿𝓮𝓵⚑𝓯𝓲𝓻𝓮⚑𝓷𝓮𝓽
"Did I say anything wrong? Penson Technologies was founded by Julian, right? The chairman position you have was given by him, right? It’s you who should be careful with your words, not me."
Her face was full of disdain, with an innate sense of superiority that was very unlikable.
"Miss Sterling, you sure have some skills, to make someone as shrewd as Julian invest so much money in you. As a gold digger, I must say you’re more outstanding than your peers, but Miss Sterling, you don’t even feel ashamed of your status and walk around Hawthorne Group with such brazenness; don’t you find it embarrassing?"
She scrutinized Paige from head to toe, her gaze impolite and scrutinizing.
"Miss Sterling, haven’t you noticed the disgusted looks people give you? How do you ignore their disdain? Or is it that people like you have long regarded shamelessness as a bragging point?"
"Miss Hale, I’ll say it again, watch your words."
Paige’s expression remained indifferent, "I might not be as eloquent as you, Miss Hale, because I prefer to resort to physical confrontation."
Helen obviously didn’t take Paige’s threat seriously.
After all, those who’ve never been hit by Paige wouldn’t know how skilled she was at fighting.
"Miss Sterling, I don’t know what spell you cast on Julian, but let me tell you, as long as I’m here, your attempts to marry into a rich family will never succeed. I won’t give you the chance!"
"You’re only after Julian’s money, but do you understand him? Do you know what he truly desires? You know nothing about him. The reason he’s with you now is simply because you were there when he was lonely. At most, you’re just a tool for him to dispel his loneliness, Miss Sterling, don’t overestimate your position."
Paige suddenly turned around, stepping closer to Helen.
Helen saw her cold and stern face and retreated warily, "What do you want to do?"
She reached out to push Paige, but her hand was caught instead.
Paige was slightly taller than Hannah, and she calmly used the tiger’s mouth to pin Helen’s chin.
Applying no more force, she still restrained Helen, keeping her from daring to move.
"Miss Hale, since our first meeting, you’ve been obsessively keeping an eye on me, even checking my whereabouts, which makes me wonder..."
She whispered in Helen’s ear, "... that you’ve fallen for me."
Helen’s face turned red, flushed with both embarrassment and anger, "Are you crazy! I just can’t stand a woman like you clinging to Julian!"
Paige let go of her, and she immediately distanced herself from Paige.
Paige casually flicked her hand, saying, "You know very well who’s really clinging."
Helen was momentarily speechless; she wasn’t clinging to Julian. They were well-matched and were destined to be together sooner or later.
Also, she was wealthy herself, unlike Paige who was chasing after Julian’s money; she valued Julian the person.
In essence, she and Paige were not the same kind of people, so she and Julian were mutually attached and not clinging!
"Miss Sterling, do you think just because Julian likes you, you can rest easy and enjoy a life of luxury forever? You mustn’t be so naive; entering a rich family isn’t that easy, even if Julian is momentarily blinded by you. Even if I can’t stop your shamelessness, Julian’s grandfather and mother will never agree to you marrying into the Hawthorne Family; in the end, you’ll end up with nothing!"
She added, "And not to mention, Julian’s mother seems to dislike people with the surname Sterling the most. If she finds out a woman named Sterling is clinging to her son, she definitely won’t let you off."
Seeing that Paige still didn’t have much of a reaction, Helen felt like she had been talking to herself all this time.
She furrowed her brows, "And you don’t really know Julian; only someone like me, who grew up with him, truly understands him. I know his favorite foods, his favorite colors to wear, and I even know how especially lonely he is because he has few friends, and I’ve always been by his side. In other words, my place in his heart is irreplaceable, and you will never get close to his heart. Do you understand?"
According to psychology, Helen’s claims, though sounding reasonable, were actually the opposite of the truth.
Otherwise, she wouldn’t be so eager to assert her claim.
"I was abroad some time ago, so maybe Julian was a bit lonely, which is why he turned to you for company. I’m not the petty type, so I naturally wouldn’t mind you, but I hope you have some self-awareness. Now that the real deal is back, you should disappear and not engage in pointless entanglement."
With all the other women out there, they were just playthings, but she was different. Julian wouldn’t easily make promises to her, which only showed his regard for her.
If Paige could be sensible, Helen would mind Paige taking advantage of the moment to gain some benefits from Julian.
But if Paige wasn’t wise, she couldn’t blame Helen if she ended up with nothing in the end.
Paige listened to Heather’s repeated narrative and couldn’t help but smile faintly.
The repeated declarations that Julian sought her only for companionship suggested how eager Helen was to put her in her place.
"Miss Hale, I’ve remembered everything you’ve told me."
"Good that you remember. Don’t truly believe that just because Julian introduces you as his wife, you actually see yourself as his true wife. To be honest, he only said that in front of me to provoke me, so don’t take it to heart and cause yourself unnecessary grief."
She continued, "You must understand that for a wealthy family like the Hawthorne Family, Julian’s wife can only be someone like me, who matches him in status. I’m a magnanimous person and don’t care about small amounts of money, so I don’t mind you taking advantage of the situation to gain some money, but you better not be too greedy."
"However, if you’re willing to leave Julian’s side now, I don’t mind giving you some money, as I’m not one to cut off someone’s financial path—people like you have it tough."
