Chapter 79: Chapter 79
Julian Hawthorne pursed his lips and looked at Paige Sterling, "I heard your lab is full of fresh young faces?"
He didn’t just hear about it; he’d seen it with his own eyes, okay?
All young people, and every one of them looked at Paige Sterling with a gaze full of enthusiastic admiration.
Julian’s heart was drowning in jealousy.
Paige didn’t notice the sourness in Julian’s heart, nodded, and said, "They’re fresh young faces now, but in the future, they might all have receding hairlines."
Although the lab has shut out related radiation and given them enough rest time, to be honest, in this line of work, baldness is truly inevitable.
Julian seemed to casually ask, "Then having been with them for so long, will you have a receding hairline in the future?"
Paige proudly shook her hair, "I’m naturally beautiful, I’m not afraid."
Julian’s gaze fell on her hair. Paige’s hair inherited her mother’s traits—black, thick, slightly wavy, with a small widow’s peak, making her face look like a ripe peach.
Julian couldn’t help but lean in and give her a light kiss.
Paige was used to his habit of touching and kissing her from time to time, so she didn’t move, still thinking about the receding hairline issue.
She felt she should prevent these young lab members from turning into greasy, balding adults too early.
Thinking this, she stood up.
Julian asked, "What are you doing?"
Paige said, "I’ve got to study a way to prevent them from going bald too early!"
In the future, a line-up of receding hairlines wouldn’t be good for Penson’s image.
She’s truly worried about her employees.
Being a boss to this level, she really is the most diligent boss in history.
Julian was once again filled with envy.
Look at that, her employees could get her so attentive, why couldn’t she spare a little thought for him?
Julian pulled Paige closer, "My back is a bit itchy, can you scratch it for me?"
His voice carried a trace of grievance, nothing like the usual aloof and indifferent President Hawthorne.
He was just like a child using every trick in the book to seek an adult’s affection.
Paige offhandedly picked up a wooden back scratcher from the table, "Here, take it, scratch it yourself."
Julian, "...", why would the hospital have such a thing.
"Someone else has used it, I’m allergic."
"Alright then.", Paige sat down by the bed, "Let’s get discharged from the hospital."
Julian responded with a hum.
Given Julian’s recent sulking, Paige hadn’t visited the lab, but there were still some matters at the company that needed her attention.
So basically, she went to the company with Julian every day, and then went home together.
And Julian lingered mostly on the seventeenth floor, sticking to her every day.
It was the first time Paige realized a man could be so clingy, and he had so much to say in front of her.
Their daily routine was basically :
"Beau, are you hungry?"
"Beau, do you want some water?"
"Beau, are you tired?"
Julian was now addicted to calling her that, calling "Beau" several times whether there was something or nothing.
Calling in a particularly alluring manner, Paige, amid his calls, sprawled on the sofa and fell asleep.
Julian pulled her over so her head rested on his lap.
He played with Paige’s fingers.
Paige’s nails were clean, hadn’t been manicured, yet they were beautifully colored with a subtle pink hue.
She regularly trimmed her nails, but recently, perhaps due to busyness, her nails had grown a bit long.
Julian took the nail clipper from the coffee table to trim her nails.
Paige’s assistant pushed open the door with files in her arms, saw the high and mighty President Hawthorne on the thirty-eighth floor actually clipping President Sterling’s nails, and her jaw almost dropped.
She quickly retreated with the files, thinking the scene of these two together was simply too fitting.
Back home in the evening, Paige came out of the bathroom and saw Julian merely in boxer briefs sitting on the bed, asking, "You’re wearing little but still have the air conditioning set so low, aren’t you cold?"
Julian pursed his lips, "Not cold, are you?"
Julian opened his arms, "Come over here, I’ll hold you."
Paige, "...", so that’s why you set the air conditioning so low?
Paige grimaced slightly and leaned into Julian’s arms. Julian’s lips brushed against her ear as he said, "President Sterling, shall we discuss life?"
Paige raised an eyebrow. "Oh? How do you want to discuss it, President Hawthorne?"
Julian smirked and kissed her lips, "Discuss it , okay?"
Paige also realized Julian was a bit... indulged.
Not sure if it was because he’d bottled up for over twenty years, but his excitement was more than Paige could handle.
The consequence was Paige noticing acne popping up on her face.
And it seemed to be multiplying.
Beauty-loving Paige couldn’t accept it, tried ointments that didn’t work, and quickly ran to the hospital.
The doctor treating Paige was a male who stared at her for so long, Paige worried she had some illness. Updates are released by 𝔫𝔬𝔳𝔢𝔩⁂𝖿𝗂𝗋𝖾⁂𝔫𝔢𝔱
She said expressionlessly, "Doctor, if you have something to say, just say it."
The doctor sighed, "Actually, it’s not serious, just regulate a bit... normally."
Paige, "..., well, doctor, write me a prescription."
Then Paige went home and tossed the prescription for Julian to see, "President Hawthorne, see this?"
Because of a few pimples, Paige started living a more restrained life.
As a result, Paige’s acne stopped but Julian’s began to sprout due to restraint.
That day Paige went to the company, and her assistant called to say someone claiming to be the general manager of Apex Technologies wanted to see her.
Paige knew about the things Apex Technologies had been stirring online, and at this juncture, the general manager of Apex coming to find her was clearly not simple.
Paige asked the assistant to bring them in.
The visitor wore glasses, looked scholarly, and smiled amicably.
"Hello, President Sterling, I’m Xander Thorne, the general manager of Apex Technologies."
Paige made a gesture inviting him to sit, her attitude casual but polite.
"What can I do for you, President Thorne?"
"President Sterling is truly a young hero, pioneering a bloody path for Penson Technologies in the tech industry. I greatly admire it; our Apex also sees a bright future for Penson but..."
And then he elaborated to Paige.
Indicating that while Penson was currently doing well, it was merely a bubble that would soon burst.
If Paige were smart, she would plan ahead before the bubble bursts, find a backing to ensure Penson Technologies’ better future development.
And this backer, naturally, should be Apex Technologies.
To put it nicely, Apex wanted to cooperate with Penson.
Put bluntly, Apex wanted to swallow Penson.
