Chapter 310: Chapter 310

Paige Sterling originally didn’t want to hit him, but seeing how despicable he was, she couldn’t help herself and went back to kick him a few more times.

Seth Shaw cried out in pain.

But coincidentally, the banquet hall outside was bustling, so nobody heard what kind of brutal treatment he was experiencing by the restroom.

Paige Sterling, still unsatisfied with just a few kicks, roughly grabbed Seth Shaw up, turned on the faucet, and forced his hand under the running water.

Seth Shaw couldn’t breathe in the water and was nearly suffocating.

After a while, Paige hauled him up again, and just as Seth managed to catch a breath, she pushed him back down.

Her face remained expressionless from start to finish, like an emotionless stick.

When she lifted Seth up again, Paige tossed him aside.

Seth’s consciousness was already blurry, his face full of fear.

Paige turned around and looked at the man leaning against the wall with arms crossed behind her, "Mr. Hale, does it look good?"

Henry Hale chuckled, "Miss Sterling is still so straightforward and violent."

Paige had no intention of conversing more with Henry Hale; she dried her hands and walked out of the restroom.

At the corner, she happened to bump into Julian Hawthorne who had come looking for her.

Julian Hawthorne glanced toward the washbasin.

Paige quickly linked her arm with Julian’s, "Just ran into a rat, that’s all. I’ve already killed it. Don’t worry about it, let’s go."

Henry Hale watched the backs of Julian Hawthorne and Paige Sterling as they walked away arm in arm, then turned and looked down at Seth Shaw.

At this point, Seth Shaw had already fainted; Henry Hale called his driver in and said calmly, "Throw him out."

The driver glanced at Seth Shaw and then looked at Henry Hale. Henry’s face still bore the same gentle expression, yet the driver felt that coldness radiated from him.

The driver was a bit scared and asked, "Where should I throw him?"

"A rat in the sewer should just be thrown into the sewer."

This puzzled the driver, as this was the bustling city center; where was he supposed to find a sewer?

The driver drove around for quite a while and finally found an actual sewer, and without second thought, he dumped Seth Shaw in.

When Seth Shaw woke up in the sewer, he felt bewildered.

His head was spinning, and his body was covered in filth, looking utterly miserable.

There was even a plump rat crawling all over him.

Seth Shaw let out a scream and crawled out of the sewer, clenching his teeth, "Paige Sterling!"

How dare she throw him here! Has Paige forgotten that he’s now the son of the Abbott Family?

Seth looked around; luckily, this place was so desolate because of the stench that no one was around. Otherwise, his publicly recognizable face might end up trending for sleeping in a sewer.

Seth Shaw gritted his teeth and crawled out of the sewer, contemplating how to settle the score with Paige.

In the past, he had no power or influence and couldn’t deal with Paige.

But now it’s different; he’s the son of the Abbott Family. Paige daring to treat him this way is like rubbing against the face of the Abbott Family, and he can’t let it go just like that.

However, Seth had only just crawled out of the sewer when he stepped on a decayed banana peel and took a hard fall.

Already dizzy from the beating by Paige, this fall made Seth feel like his brain might come out.

Especially since when he fell, there was a small stone due to the angle, hitting just three inches below his navel.

So, alongside a dizziness, Seth experienced a pain in a man’s life that he could hardly bear.

Even the surrounding rats were scared away by Seth’s scream, which was as sharp as a woman’s.

After screaming, Seth suddenly noticed not far away a man looking at him with eyes full of sympathy.

Seth, "What are you looking at? Get lost!"

As a man, the person clearly understood Seth’s anger and shame, so he didn’t get angry at Seth at all, asking with a good-natured tone, "Do you need me to call 120 for you?"

Skylar Hughes never misses an opportunity for a banquet where she can meet wealthy people.

She always manages to appear at such events.

Every time she attended, she aimed to attract all the attention, but often either remained unnoticed or was ridiculed.

Even if Paige Sterling wasn’t present, Paige could still steal all her spotlight.

But this time, Skylar Hughes decided to change her strategy; rather than trying to stand out, she kept a low profile.

Throughout the evening, Paige Sterling didn’t catch a glimpse of her, so Paige never expected Skylar would also attend the banquet today.

At this moment, Skylar Hughes was curled up in an inconspicuous corner of the banquet hall.

Her long hair flowed down, her makeup was simple, and she wore a pure white dress, hugging her knees, her eyes red as if she had encountered something really sad, wanting only to hide in a corner and silently lick her wounds.

Soon, Skylar sensed footsteps approaching, and from her angle, she could see a pair of exquisitely crafted leather shoes.

Those belonged to a man’s shoes—moreover, a man of extraordinary status.

Skylar Hughes silently chuckled to herself, and tears she’d held back for some time finally found their use, trickling down.

Simultaneously, she began her sorrowful and desperate self-talk.

"Clearly, I did nothing wrong, yet everyone misunderstands me. Why do they believe in those rumors and all hate and ostracize me?"

"I know I’m not biologically part of the Sterling Family; I’m just a stepdaughter. I have no right to ask for the same treatment as Paige. But were all those years of affection just a lie? Were all my efforts for the Sterling Family just one-sided? Why did they abandon me so readily? Is my existence truly a mistake?"

"I don’t mind suffering losses; I only mind why those I consider family would treat me this way, spreading rumors about me everywhere, ruining my reputation like a rat despised by others, even affecting my work and life..."

"From childhood until now, I never dared to show too much excellence, knowing that my success would only make me lose more. For the sake of precious family bonds, I’m willing to be a no-good stepdaughter, but even after doing that, they still couldn’t accept me. With my biological mother, I’m an unwelcome outsider, and with my biological father, I’m also an outsider, like a ball kicked back and forth, with no one considering my feelings..."

This kind of atmosphere and corner, with a young girl alone expressing years of grievances, is really compelling.

Especially when the girl has a tender and pitiful face that evokes sympathy, making it even more heartbreaking.

Presumably, no man could reject such a girl with a pitiful background.

Sure enough, the owner of those leather shoes came to Skylar Hughes.

Skylar hurriedly wiped her tears away and then looked up at the man, showing her pale and delicate little face fully to him. The source of this content ɪs 𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹~𝓯𝓲𝓻𝓮~𝚗𝚎𝚝

However, Skylar Hughes didn’t expect it at all to be... Henry Hale.

She rarely interacted with Henry Hale, who was an outstanding man. But this man always seemed gentle to everyone, yet exuded aloofness from his bones.
