Chapter 308: Chapter 308
Ryan Abbott was beaten nearly to death by Austin Xavier, and when he returned home, Mr. Abbott hit him on the head with an ashtray, leaving him bloody and bruised.
"You useless thing! Did I raise you just to make a fool of our Abbott Family?! You’ve brought shame to our name!"
Ryan trembled; Mr. Abbott was the person he feared the most, and now with Mr. Abbott furious and already injured, he was scared out of his wits.
Even more infuriating, Willa Sherman had somehow shown up at the Abbott household, and upon seeing the severely injured Ryan, she cried out as she rushed to embrace him.
"Uncle! Uncle, even a tiger doesn’t eat its cubs. Ryan is your own son, how can you be so harsh with him?"
Willa cried, "All the blame is mine; Uncle, take out your anger on me, don’t hit Ryan..."
Willa wasn’t particularly distressed about Ryan, nor was she worried that Mr. Abbott would actually kill him.
She rushed out at this moment to show both Ryan and Mr. and Mrs. Abbott just how deeply she felt for Ryan.
"Uncle, hit me, do whatever you want to me, I don’t care, just don’t hit Ryan anymore. He’s already seriously injured; he suddenly needs a doctor..."
Mr. Abbott was visibly enraged.
Mrs. Abbott glared at Willa with murderous eyes.
All of this was because of Willa. Had it not been for her, Ryan wouldn’t have been led astray and wouldn’t have had a fallout with the Xavier Family.
Mrs. Abbott was so furious that she was about to hit Willa.
Ryan noticed and struggled to shield Willa, "Mom! Willa is pregnant. The doctor said her pregnancy is unstable due to fear; don’t hit her. If you’re angry, hit me instead..." The rıghtful source is 𝔫𝔬𝔳𝔢𝔩~𝕗𝕚𝕣𝕖~𝙣𝙚𝙩
Even at this point, Willa still went to the Abbott family, and her intentions were clear as day.
She claimed she would leave Ryan to let him be with Summer Xavier, but her actions suggested otherwise.
And Ryan, like a fool, wholeheartedly protected Willa; such a fool made even his own father feel ashamed. How could he expect the Xavier Family to approve?
Mr. Abbott couldn’t bring himself to admit that he had raised such a foolish son, so he blamed it on Mrs. Abbott.
"This is the son you raised! Fool! No wonder the Xavier girl doesn’t fancy you!"
Ryan was indignant, since Summer Xavier always seemed to cling to him and wanted to break him and Willa apart, how could it be that she’s not interested in him?
His dad must have been brainwashed by the Xavier Family, he thought.
However, faced with his father’s rage, Ryan dared not speak, fearing Mr. Abbott would start hitting him again.
Mrs. Abbott, on her part, didn’t accept the blame from Mr. Abbott.
"He’s not just my son alone; why blame it all on me now?"
"If I don’t blame you, who should I blame then? Our decent son was led astray by your niece turning him into this! I told you not to let your chaotic relatives hang around the Abbott family all the time, but you didn’t listen. Now everything has happened, and are you satisfied?"
Mrs. Abbott deeply regretted it, and Willa, described as a chaotic relative, also felt a bit embarrassed.
She hadn’t known Mr. Abbott looked down on her all along.
She even thought of Mr. Abbott as her own uncle.
But so what if he looked down on her? His son was infatuated with her to death, obeying her every word. Mr. Abbott only had this one son; wouldn’t he ultimately have to compromise for her?
"Uncle, I know I shouldn’t be with Ryan, but matters of the heart aren’t something we can control. We are victims too; we didn’t want to be siblings either..."
"Shut up!" Mrs. Abbott glared at Willa in anger, "It’s all because of you, you little tramp! I’ll beat you to death!"
She rushed over to hit Willa again.
Willa, fearing for the safety of the child in her womb, quickly ducked behind Ryan.
After all, Mrs. Abbott cherished her son and wouldn’t hit him.
Sure enough, with Ryan shielding her, Mrs. Abbott couldn’t bring herself to do it.
She trembled all over, pointing at Ryan but unable to utter a word.
The son she had loved from childhood now sided with another woman, obeying her entirely, even to the point of ignoring his own mother.
Mrs. Abbott’s heart was stabbed, bleeding profusely.
Mr. Abbott watched coldly, saying nothing, and eventually instructed the butler to call Willa’s parents.
Mrs. Abbott had a soft spot for her son, refrained from hitting Willa due to her love for Ryan, but Mr. Abbott had no such scruples.
Everything this son had came from him, and since he wouldn’t listen, there was no need to harbor any expectations for this wasted son.
Didn’t he want to be with Willa? Didn’t he want to get married? He would make it happen for them, just to see how long their love could last.
So Mr. Abbott called Willa’s parents to negotiate a marriage between her and Ryan.
Mrs. Abbott never expected Mr. Abbott to plan this.
Letting Ryan marry Willa would be akin to giving up Ryan as an heir, and she would absolutely not allow that.
In the end, Mrs. Abbott caused a huge ruckus, went to extremes with tears and threats, and even frightened Ryan. He clung to his mother, crying and shouting that he wouldn’t marry Willa and wouldn’t see her anymore, which finally calmed Mrs. Abbott down.
In turn, Willa mimicked Mrs. Abbott by crying and threatening, claiming she would rather die than be separated from Ryan.
She wanted Mrs. Abbott to realize her importance in Ryan’s heart and that she wasn’t one to be easily dismissed.
Seeing Willa’s antics and her son growing more affectionate towards Ryan, Mrs. Abbott fainted in rage.
Mr. Abbott remained cold and said to Ryan, "Since you are so determined to be with her, I’ll let you be, but as you can see, your mother won’t stand for it. If you choose to be with this woman, you’ll be the death of her. Therefore, if you choose her, the Abbott Family will have no ties with you, and we’ll consider you no longer our son; nothing of the Abbott Family will be yours."
Ryan was stunned, "Dad, I just want to pursue my own love and you’re casting me out? I’m your own son, how can you be so heartless?"
Mr. Abbott sneered, "Am I not your biological father? Is your mother not your biological mother? You care nothing for us, so why should we care for you? Take your woman and leave! Never step into my Abbott house again!"
With Willa crying beside him, Ryan, spurred on by Mr. Abbott’s provocation, declared boldly, "Fine, we’ll leave, and we’ll never come back!"
With that, he left the Abbott Family with Willa.
At first, Willa felt a bit panicked. Why did she go to such lengths to seduce Ryan? Wasn’t it all for the Abbott’s fortune? Now that Ryan had been driven out by Mr. Abbott, what was she going to do?
But on second thought, the Abbott Family only had Ryan as an heir. How could Mr. Abbott really expel his only son?
He was just trying to force her to give up on Ryan. She just had to hold on, showing Mr. Abbott that she’d stick by Ryan through thick and thin, and eventually, wouldn’t the Abbotts have to relent?
So Willa’s heart soon settled.
But Willa would soon realize that things might not go entirely as she had planned.
