Chapter 253: Chapter 253
Paige felt a bit irritated, "Anyway, I didn’t write this. I don’t like you, never had any romantic feelings for you, so don’t bother me with this kind of thing again."
If this blunder reached Mr. Hawthorne’s ears and he believed it, they’d have yet another little tiff.
After saying this, Paige was about to leave when Austin grabbed her, "Paige! Why won’t you admit it? What do you take me for?"
Paige tried to shake off his hand, but he held her tightly.
"Back then, I really didn’t know the love letter was from you, so I let someone else take it. I know it hurt you, and I’m sorry..."
Austin said, "I know, it’s been so many years, and I never expressed how much I liked you. You were disappointed, so you got together with Julian to spite me. I don’t mind..."
Paige was bewildered, and then Austin continued, "Now, as long as you’re willing to break up with Julian and be with me, I’ll pretend nothing ever happened, and we’ll be just fine..."
Austin’s voice grew softer and softer, while Paige remained dazed and unable to react.
Suddenly, there was the sound of a glass hitting the floor nearby.
Paige looked over and saw a girl in a work uniform standing there dumbfounded, the glass on her tray already shattered on the ground.
Tears welled up in her eyes as she looked at Austin with sadness and stubbornness.
Paige came to her senses, giving Austin a half-smile, "So it turns out I’m Young Master Xavier’s latest target."
Austin frowned, giving Rose a cold glance, "Get lost!"
Rose gritted her teeth, "Young Master Xavier, you clearly said you’d be with me, so why are you doing this to me?"
Austin’s face turned green, and he couldn’t even remember who this girl was.
Paige took two steps back, keeping a distance from Austin, and spoke, "Austin, whether you believe it or not, I really didn’t write you a love letter. If I truly liked you, I wouldn’t be with Seth, and I certainly wouldn’t be married to Julian. You’ve misunderstood for real."
Yet, out of all truths Paige spoke, Austin refused to believe, "You’re lying to me! You clearly like me!"
He pointed at Rose, "Do you think there’s something between me and this woman, so you’re mad? Paige, let me explain, there’s nothing between me and them, they’re just..."
"Enough, Austin. Can you act like a man and take responsibility? You sleep with a girl and then say something , what do you take her for?"
Austin refused to let Paige go, reaching out to pull her back.
But this time, Paige had had enough. She spun around, pinned Austin down, and started punching him.
"When I talk to you nicely, you don’t listen. You wait until I use force, and that’s when you realize I have no patience, right?"
Rose came to her senses, immediately pulling at Paige, "What are you doing? Let go of him! You’re not allowed to hit him!"
Finally, Paige released Austin.
Seeing how severely Austin was beaten by Paige, Rose began shouting.
Before long, people from the banquet hall gathered to watch the spectacle.
Rose clutched Austin, pointing at Paige, "It was her, she beat Young Master Xavier ! Somebody call the police!"
Everyone looked at Paige.
Paige lowered her head slightly, "I just came to the balcony for some air, didn’t expect to see Young Master Xavier getting cozy with a staff member here. I’m aware of his notorious reputation; I was going to leave quietly. But Young Master thought I might have seen his inadequacies, felt it would tarnish his manly image, and wanted to kill me to silence me. I had no choice..." Newest update provıded by 𝘯𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭•𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙚•𝕟𝕖𝕥
Austin, beaten to immobility and tightly held by Rose, could not break free.
The two appeared very much entangled.
Austin gritted his teeth, glaring at Paige.
Rose was dumbfounded; she hadn’t expected Paige to have such an outrageous move.
"That’s a lie, you clearly..."
Paige nodded immediately, "I know, I shouldn’t have looked, that was my mistake..."
The crowd exchanged strange glances, all fixating on Austin and Rose.
They had heard of Austin’s indiscretions but did not expect them to reach such desperate levels - being caught red-handed on the balcony with a staff member.
And to be caught by someone.
At this moment, Paige seemed possessed by an Oscar-winning performance, "It’s partly on me, really. Let’s all stop judging Young Master Xavier. For a man as delicate as he is, you can imagine how insecure he must feel..."
Austin was enraged to the point of near-collapse, struggling to say a single word as he pointed at Paige, "Paige, you..."
Unexpectedly, Skylar, who had also come to the banquet with her new boss, shook her head after witnessing the scene, and said, "Paige, regardless, you were a bit too harsh. How could you hurt Young Master Xavier ?"
Paige squinted at Skylar, "Austin, weren’t you looking for the author of the love letter? Well, there she is."
Austin’s expression froze, while Skylar didn’t immediately catch on, but after a moment her face also froze.
Paige went on, "Miss Hughes, back in middle school, you told me you liked Austin and even wrote him a love letter. I suppose you still like him now since he’s been hung up on that letter for years. You should explain to him and clear up any misunderstandings, don’t you think?"
Skylar’s face was awkward to the extreme.
Inexperienced young girls always fancied the prince who received all attention.
Back then, Austin was exactly that to Skylar.
She liked Austin and had given Paige a heads-up first because she didn’t want Austin snatched away by Paige.
Then she wrote him a love letter, but didn’t have the courage to use her real name.
Later, she found out that Austin didn’t care about the letter and even tossed it in the trash, where the boys picked it up, making the whole school aware. Afraid of being found out, she privately told Austin that Paige wrote it.
No one brought it up again all these years, and Skylar nearly forgot.
Skylar instinctively denied it, "Wasn’t me. No way I’d write a love letter to Young Master Xavier..."
Paige shrugged, indifferent.
Surely Austin now knew who penned the love letter.
Paige couldn’t be bothered with this drama, so she turned to leave.
She surveyed the banquet hall, intending to fetch Burt and Sonny to go home, only to see that the two were surrounded by a swarm of girls.
Thinking Burt was up to his old tricks, Paige moved closer and heard their conversation, realizing she’d misunderstood.
These girls were bombarding the brothers, all trying to find out Paige’s preferences.
"Kid, don’t be nervous. Big sis just wants to know God Sterling’s WeChat..."
"And, and, what’s God Sterling’s favorite fruit?"
"What color does God Sterling like?"
"How many hours does God Sterling usually work? Does she like to exercise?"
A barrage of questions came from the girls, leaving Burt and Sonny baffled on where to begin.
Just then, Sonny suddenly shouted, "Okay, everyone stop!"
With his loud voice, Silence fell around them.
Appearing like he was addressing a board meeting, Sonny coughed, "Want to know my sister better, or add her WeChat, it’s possible..."
He paused, "But nothing’s free in this world. You want to know, you have to pay a price! What do you say?"
"Wow, this kid’s got some business acumen.", one girl said, "So, what will it take for you to talk?"
"A thousand bucks for an answer. Ten grand for her WeChat."
So, Sonny promptly got down to business, while Burt managed the QR codes for the girls’ transfers.
Paige clicked her tongue twice to herself, surprised that Sonny, at such a young age, turned out to be a business genius, already conducting deals .
