Chapter 238: Chapter 238
Skylar Hughes wanted to stop; if Paige Sterling coldly and unemotionally rejected her, saying she didn’t know her at all, she would be embarrassed.
Surrounded by so many girls calling him "little brother," the staff member blushed and his heart raced, so he agreed.
He walked up to Paige and asked her.
Paige glanced toward the door and said something to the staff member.
Soon the staff member came back and said, "Miss Sterling said that she is the only child in her family and has no siblings."
A few girls looked at Skylar Hughes in shock, "Skylar, didn’t you say she was your sister? Why did God Sterling say she wasn’t? You wouldn’t be lying to us, would you?"
"Yeah, are you trying to connect yourself with God Sterling?"
Skylar’s face turned ugly. Who the hell wants to connect with Paige Sterling? What’s so great about her?
"So you’ve been lying to us all along, huh!"
A few girls gave a cold snort and ignored Skylar.
However, they didn’t leave. They just stayed outside, waiting for Paige to come out, so they could see her when she did.
Skylar Hughes, seeing them acting so stupidly, could only leave with a green face.
The wait was long because today’s exchange meeting was longer than previous years’, ending at eleven-thirty at night.
When Paige exited the banquet hall, she was immediately surrounded by those girls.
They chirped and expressed their admiration for Paige.
Paige, noticing there weren’t many people around, took photos and signed autographs willingly.
Seeing Paige so tired, the girls bid her goodnight, satisfied as they left.
After the exchange meeting ended, people from other countries left the next day.
However, people from Veridia didn’t leave.
Since they were usually confined in the lab, they rarely had the opportunity to go out, so some suggested taking advantage of this trip to stay in Elysia for a few more days.
Anyway, they were told that the department was fully responsible for the overseas trip expenses; all they had to do was eat, drink, and play.
Paige was eager to return, wanting to quickly roll into Mr. Hawthorne’s arms.
Yet with everyone persuading her, it seemed unsociable to leave alone, so she stayed.
Upon learning that Paige was staying abroad without planning to return soon, Julian Hawthorne directly flew to Elysia the next day.
Paige had been out having fun with everyone all day, and upon returning to the hotel, she found someone coming toward her.
She immediately prepared to counterattack but was detected by the other party who pinned her to the wall with her arms behind her back.
Paige felt the familiar presence, "Julian, why are you here?"
In the darkness, the man’s unsatisfied voice sounded, "Heard you were having too much fun outside and didn’t want to return home, so I came personally to pick you up."
Paige explained, "Everyone stayed to have fun, and I couldn’t leave alone, right? That would be such a downer."
Julian bit her ear from behind, "How long more does Mrs. Hawthorne plan to play?"
Paige replied smartly, "Not playing anymore, I’ll go back with you right away."
Julian deliberately asked, "You’re not afraid of ruining the fun?"
Paige sighed, "If they see you, they’ll understand me. It’s my beauty that keeps my husband thinking about me all day."
Julian chuckled, "One overseas trip, and you’ve thickened your skin?"
Not only thickened, but her complexion was pretty good too. Clearly, she had lived comfortably without him by her side.
But for him, it was different. Without her presence, he couldn’t eat or sleep well.
Upon hearing that she was returning to the country, he was waiting early at the airport, only to be informed that she wasn’t coming back temporarily.
His mood had been following hers, going up and down dramatically.
Paige walked outside all day, and at night Julian didn’t fuss with her, just held her and slept all night.
Early the next morning, Paige planned to tell the others she was heading back to the country, but Julian said, "Since we’re out, let’s enjoy it."
Paige raised an eyebrow.
Julian added, "I’ll give you two choices: either play with me or take me along with them."
This was truly a deadly choice.
Paige immediately said, "Of course I’ll play with you."
Before heading out, Paige specifically knocked on Chris Swift’s door.
As soon as Chris opened the door, Paige entered drastically, slamming the door shut, and looked at him with cold, blade-like eyes.
Chris shivered, "What’s going on, Paige?"
"What’s going on? You tell me what’s going on?"
Paige showed Julian Hawthorne’s phone to Chris, "Is this your WeChat? I really didn’t expect you’d dare to do this behind my back."
Due to limited spots for this overseas exchange meeting, Paige could only bring one person along.
To be fair, several people in the lab drew lots, and Chris ended up winning, so he came along with her.
If it weren’t for seeing Julian’s phone last night, she wouldn’t have known there was a traitor beside her.
This traitor reported her whereabouts to Julian every day, including whom she met and what was said, accurately.
He even mentioned the incident with Gudes to Julian.
If not, Julian wouldn’t have rushed to Elysia in a fury.
Chris immediately covered his head, "Paige, I was forced. Really, your husband forced me! If you want to settle scores, go to him..."
Settling scores with Julian was necessary, but Paige couldn’t let such a traitor by her side slide either.
Paige raised her hand, and Chris showed a desperate face, "Paige, please, don’t hit my face..."
But Paige didn’t hit him; she merely threatened fiercely, "I’ll tell you, this year’s year-end bonus will be cut in half!"
Chris wailed, "Paige, please no, I rely on my year-end bonus to support my family!" Check latest chapters at 𝗇𝗈𝗏𝖾𝗅✦𝖿𝗂𝗋𝖾✦𝗇𝖾𝗍
Paige remained stone-hearted.
Afterward, Chris thought, fortunately, the money Julian gave him could supplement the year-end bonus.
However, wasn’t this essentially a waste of effort while still making Paige resent him?
Not worth it at all; in the future, he should hold his ground against Julian’s financial temptations!
Paige didn’t forget to settle accounts with Julian either.
She tossed the phone to Julian.
"Julian, I’ve only been abroad a few days and you’ve bribed people around me to monitor? Where’s the basic trust between people?"
Julian was unfazed, "You snooped on my phone; where’s your trust in me?"
Paige was speechless.
She wore a stern face and ignored Julian.
Julian gently extended his hand, tracing Paige’s palm with his finger, "I’m sorry."
Paige snorted coldly, but she wasn’t genuinely angry with Julian.
Seeing him admit fault, she took the opportunity to relent, "Don’t do this again in the future."
Julian responded with a good attitude, promising.
Paige and Julian stayed abroad for a few days before heading home.
They didn’t return with other Veridia members, and logically, their itinerary shouldn’t have been known.
However, upon returning to the domestic airport, Paige noticed that the airport was unusually crowded today, especially at the exit, packed with people.
This scene evoked a peculiar sense of familiarity, reminding her of the past days when fans chased her in the entertainment industry.
Nowadays, the scene ahead was evidently even crazier than back then.
Paige comforted herself, hoping these people weren’t here for her.
If they were, it would be terrifying.
