Chapter 218: Chapter 218
The subway was crowded, and Paige Sterling seldom let go of Sonny Chambers, which made Sonny very excited.
If it weren’t for Paige wearing sunglasses and a mask covering herself tightly, he would have shouted out loud that the person he’s holding hands with is the revered God Sterling.
During the rush hour post-work, there were no seats after getting on the subway.
Paige stood, while Sonny clung to her leg, his short stature made him barely noticeable; after a quick glance around, all he could see was a sea of legs.
Sonny tugged at Paige’s coat and whined, "Paige, didn’t you say a guy’s vantage point should be broader so he can achieve great things in the future?"
Paige looked down at him, "Hmm?"
Sonny whined, "I can’t see anything now, it’s really affecting my view, can you pick me up?"
Paige adjusted her sunglasses, feeling like she wanted to kill this pretentious kid, she coldly and emotionlessly refused, "No."
Sonny was unhappy, "Why are you ? If you don’t carry me, I’ll call out your name."
If he called her name, the entire subway car would know Paige was onboard, and Paige would end up signing autographs until her hand cramped.
Paige said coolly, "Give it a try."
Sonny, "...", dared not.
He pouted, resigned himself to cling onto Paige’s leg.
Before long, someone left the subway, and Sonny quickly ran over to snatch up the seat, even provocatively raised his chin at Paige, "Beg me, and I’ll let you sit."
Paige gave him a cool glance, too lazy to bother with him.
Sonny felt like no matter what he did, he couldn’t get Paige’s attention, deeply troubled.
With a face full of frustration, he stretched out his hand to tug at Paige’s coat again, "Considering how hard you work every day, I’ll let you sit, come here."
Paige asked, "No conditions?"
How could there be no conditions?
Sonny said proudly, "I go to school every day which is also really tiring, the seat is for you but you have to hold me."
Paige reluctantly sat down and held Sonny in her arms.
Sonny felt at that moment he had reached the pinnacle of his life, he was actually being held in Paige’s arms?
This treatment was something Julian Hawthorne never had.
He snuggled contentedly into Paige’s chest, utterly delighted.
Paige’s mouth twitched, holding back the urge to throw him off, she said, "Get rid of that sleazy expression."
Really, it’s just too embarrassing.
Sonny snorted proudly, "You never understand my beauty." ʀᴇᴀᴅ ʟᴀᴛᴇsᴛ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs ᴀᴛ 𝓷𝓸𝓿𝓮𝓵~𝕗𝕚𝕣𝕖~𝙣𝙚𝙩
Paige, "...", this kid really is... quite audacious.
Beside Paige sat a woman also holding a child.
However, that child was a bit unruly, climbing over other passengers, dirtying their clothes, but everyone saw he was just a child, so they couldn’t really fuss much.
Now the child crawled over toward Paige, seeing Sonny with a lollipop in his mouth, he reached out to grab it.
Though usually under Paige’s control, Sonny had been a little tyrant before this, no way he’d let someone snatch what was in his mouth, so he pushed the child away.
The child tried again to snatch.
Sonny, annoyed, directly addressed the child’s mother, "Auntie, can you control your kid? It’s so annoying!"
The child’s mother laughed, "Oh dear, they’re all just kids, playing together, what’s the harm?"
Sonny expressed his disdain for such kids clearly.
"Who wants to play with your kid? He’s so annoying, he dirtied my sister’s pants."
He snorted after saying this, and then patted Paige’s leg which had a footprint from the kid’s shoe, "I’m telling you, if he dares come over again, I’ll hit him."
The child’s mother’s face turned sour, "How can you be so rude? How have your guardians taught you?"
Paige’s eyes shot coldly from behind her sunglasses.
"Do you have an opinion on the way we raise our children?"
Though the mother could not see Paige’s eyes, her gaze was full of chilling intent, which made people immediately feel she was not someone to mess with.
Most people coward before strength, seeing this, the child’s mother did not dare say anything else, hurriedly pulled her child back, murmuring complaints.
Paige couldn’t be bothered with her.
The child remained relentless, trying again to reach Paige, wanting to climb over her.
As soon as he showed his head, Sonny would push him back.
The child’s mother complained, "What’s wrong with you as an adult? My kid wants to sit over there, what’s wrong with giving a child a break? Encouraging your kid to bully mine, do you think kindness is a weakness?"
Paige replied coldly, "Why should I? He’s not my child."
Not even her child did she indulge , let alone someone else’s, what a nerve.
That child’s mother probably often took her kid out, and while out got to enjoy certain privileges.
Now Paige was being so unsympathetic to her, making her feel unbalanced inside.
"Isn’t it too much? It’s just a child, treating one like that, don’t you have any civility?"
"Is civility used this way?"
The child’s mother, "..."
Sonny clicked his tongue twice inwardly, even with his thick skin, he didn’t dare be so shameless in front of Paige.
This woman was truly brave and reckless.
The child kept making a fuss.
Paige stated coldly, "Inside the driver’s cockpit is even more fun, let your kid go play there."
Upon hearing this, the child instantly started to whimper demandingly, "Mommy, mommy, I want to go to the cockpit, I want to go to the cockpit..."
He then threw a fit, insisting on going to the cockpit.
Despite the mother’s coaxing she couldn’t calm the child down, his cries bothered everyone, leaving her glaring at Paige angrily, muttering a few complaints.
Sonny gave Paige a thumbs up.
Now witnessing Paige’s attitude towards other children, he realized Paige wasn’t kind to every child, not all could win her favor.
In comparison, Paige was indeed very kind to him as a younger brother.
Sonny again nestled happily into Paige’s embrace.
Paige’s toughness and coldness made that child’s mother hesitant to provoke.
After a while, the child noticed someone else had something new in their hands, stopped crying, but rudely tried to grab their Ipad.
The person holding the Ipad was a seventeen or eighteen-year-old girl, engrossed in using the Ipad to study for exams, the child’s previous fussing hadn’t bothered her.
But once the child tried to snatch her Ipad, she swiftly dodged and glared at the child before continuing her studies.
Since the child couldn’t succeed in snatching, he began crying again, making the entire car noisy, many had moved to other cars.
"Mommy, mommy, I don’t care, I’m just going to have it I’m just going to have it..."
Seeing her child crying, the girl seemed unperturbed, still using her Ipad undisturbed; the child’s mother with a face full of complaint said, "Nowadays, young people are increasingly lacking in ethics, seeing a child crying and ignoring, pretending not to see, really don’t know how their parents and teachers taught them."
Paige’s eyes twitched.
Not their child, why should anyone else care?
Does she really think her child is born for the whole world, that the whole world should be responsible?
Unfortunately, after her sarcastic rant, the girl absorbed in studying did not even notice, continuing with her own work.
