Chapter 188: Chapter 188
Skylar Hughes looked over at Paige Sterling, who was slouched in her chair watching, clearly not planning to get in the water since she hadn’t even changed into a swimsuit.
Skylar heaved a sigh of relief.
But just then, someone called out for Paige to get in the water, "Paige, come on down! Show them what you’ve got!"
Paige shook her head, "I’m not going down."
Mr. Hawthorne was already quite displeased before they came, warning her multiple times.
If he found out she wore a revealing swimsuit, she’d surely face the wrath of Mr. Hawthorne again when they returned.
Angus Langdon let out a cold laugh, "Paige, are you scared?"
Paige glanced at him without saying a word.
Angus continued to provoke her.
Paige kept her composure, but the others couldn’t hold back, "Hey, Angus, you still owe Paige a call of ’grandpa’! Get that out of the way before talking big, don’t embarrass yourself again later!"
"Exactly, isn’t it uncomfortable to slap your own face?"
Angus’s face turned green with anger, "I’m talking to Paige, what’s it got to do with you guys?"
"We’re all Paige’s fans!"
Angus chuckled, "If she really considered you guys her fans, why hasn’t she acknowledged you? She didn’t even change into a swimsuit, she’s so unsociable, what’s she doing here?"
Skylar chuckled, "Don’t mind it, everyone. Paige is just not used to this kind of setting..."
But just as she finished speaking, Paige stood up, "If you lose, take Skylar and stay away from me, don’t keep babbling in my face, it’s irritating."
After speaking, she ignored how awful Angus and Skylar looked and went to change.
Paige’s good figure was obvious at a glance.
But just how good, nobody really knew, since she always kept herself fully covered since her debut.
Now, finally having the chance to see, everyone got excited, staring at the changing room door.
In no time, Paige came out wearing a swimsuit.
It was the most conservative one, but her long legs couldn’t be concealed, revealing themselves completely.
As she emerged, everyone exclaimed, "Wow!"
Skylar watched Paige in her swimsuit, unconsciously clenching her palms again.
Good family background, good looks, and even a great figure, she couldn’t help but feel jealous, why does Paige get all the best things?
However, before Paige could get in the water, Julian Hawthorne came down with a stern face and wrapped a long towel around her.
"Are you really wearing this?"
Paige’s expression stiffened, "I just wanted to try it on, I’ll change immediately."
She went back into the changing room, and Julian followed her in.
The group outside exchanged puzzled looks, "Isn’t Paige supposed to be tough? Why is she so scared now?"
"This must be Paige’s Achilles’ heel, Julian must have saved the Galaxy in his past life to marry Paige, becoming the ultimate winner in life."
When Paige came out again, everyone noticed she was wrapped up...
Only her face was still visible.
Everyone thought Paige wouldn’t swim, but she got into the water saying, "Alright, let’s start."
With Mr. Hawthorne present, Angus didn’t dare overtly target Paige.
If Paige got mad, she’d at most give you a beating.
If Mr. Hawthorne got mad, he could destroy you entirely.
But Angus still muttered quietly to Paige, "You’re swimming dressed ? What a joke."
Everyone knew water resistance is a thing, the more you wear, the slower you swim.
Paige was unfazed, "Against you guys, I don’t need to be too professional, let’s start."
With a command, the group lunged forward.
Mr. Hawthorne sat watching on the shore, his gaze fixated on Paige’s form.
Skylar moved to his side, trying to spark a conversation.
But Julian didn’t respond, just kept staring at Paige intently.
Then, startled gasps echoed on the shore.
"Oh my god! What kind of fairy speed is this?!"
"Is Paige even human?"
"It’s a shame Paige isn’t representing the country as a champion swimmer!"
Skylar looked over to see Paige glide through the water at an astonishing speed, like a fish, with Angus left in the dust, let alone everyone else at the professional level far behind.
When Paige reached the finish and headed back, others were only halfway through.
Paige effortlessly outpaced everyone.
As she came ashore, Julian wrapped the scarf around her.
Paige gave Angus a cool glance, "Don’t casually challenge me again, beating you gives me no sense of accomplishment."
Those words were quite infuriating, weren’t they?
But her strengths were undeniable, and no one dared to utter anything.
Angus’s face darkened considerably.
Paige added, "But don’t stress too much, train for forty to fifty years, you might just reach my level."
Forty to fifty years, ha...
Paige then turned to Skylar, her face cold, "Also, stay away from my man in the future."
Skylar’s expression stiffened, "Paige, you misunderstood, Mr. Hawthorne and I are just..."
"Shut your mouth, I don’t need to hear your explanation."
Paige went to the changing room and came out dressed, ready to head upstairs with Julian.
However, Angus stepped before her, sneering.
"Paige, with swimming skills like that, when Mona Wright and I fell into the water, you just walked away without saving us, didn’t even notify anyone to rescue us. No matter how good you are, I’ll never respect someone like you."
Skylar’s heart skipped a beat, but Paige frowned, "Then when you fell in, how did you get out?"
Angus answered unapologetically, "Of course because of Skylar, she happened to see and saved us, otherwise I’d be dead, she’s much kinder than you are."
Paige made an acknowledging sound, looking at Skylar, "That’s quite impressive of you."
Then to Angus, she said, "You’re impressive too, a perfect match." Tʜe sourcᴇ of thɪs content ɪs 𝔫𝔬𝔳𝔢𝔩~𝕗𝕚𝕣𝕖~𝙣𝙚𝙩
She said nothing more and left.
Skylar exhaled, really fearing Paige would expose her in front of everyone.
Once Paige left, Skylar felt no point staying and returned to the party upstairs.
She hadn’t realized she’d unconsciously been following Paige’s footsteps.
Skylar thought Paige was only attracting men with her looks.
But she was wrong; men liked Paige, and it was easy for women to be fond of someone like her, too.
At the party, Skylar saw several girls gathered, all talking about Paige, full of admiration between the lines.
"She’s even prettier than on TV, fair-skinned, well-structured features, great body, the epitome of what every woman dreams of..."
"More importantly, she’s so capable, the woman every woman aspires to be..."
"I so admire her, I want to be a woman like her, but alas, I don’t have that courage..."
Skylar steamed with displeasure, walking away.
Were these people blind? Paige being worthy of their admiration?
