Chapter 185: Chapter 185
Paige Sterling tugged on Mr. Hawthorne’s hand, heading out, when suddenly she noticed a large group of people running in their direction.
Paige hadn’t caught on yet and said, "There seems to be a celebrity nearby; let’s get out of here."
Mr. Hawthorne said, "They’re here for you."
Paige was momentarily stunned, and the next moment, sure enough, she saw the group of people rush towards her, the sound of shutters clicking rapidly, and countless flashes.
"God Sterling, God Sterling! It’s really you!! Ahhh, I can’t believe I’m seeing the real God Sterling!"
"God Sterling, do you need any accessories? The cute, adorable kind that can also kiss you sweetly!"
"God Sterling, I love you..."
Fans used to call Paige Pépé, but now they’ve all switched to calling her God Sterling.
Paige thought she was well-disguised, so how did they recognize her?
Encountering fans on the street wasn’t an issue for her; she was used to it.
But Julian Hawthorne was another story. She shielded Julian behind her, worried someone might bump into him.
Julian had a slight smile on his lips when he heard Paige whisper, "On the count of three, let’s run together, okay?"
Julian grunted in agreement, so when Paige gave the command, they held hands and dashed out of the crowd.
They twisted and turned, running several circles, finally managing to shake off the persistent fans behind them.
Paige’s face was slightly flushed, but she didn’t even breathe heavily.
Julian, however, was panting heavily.
It’s no surprise any normal person would be panting after such a long run.
But seeing how Paige wasn’t out of breath, and recalling how she’d teased him about his stamina, Mr. Hawthorne tried hard not to appear weak, suppressing his breathlessness to appear composed.
Paige patted his chest with the back of her hand, "Alright, don’t hold back; if you need to breathe, just breathe."
Julian said, "I’m not out of breath."
Mr. Hawthorne couldn’t afford to lose face.
Paige chuckled, "But you’re clearly out of breath."
Julian said, "That’s not me breathing."
It really wasn’t Julian who was out of breath.
Paige turned her head and saw a young man leaning against the wall, panting behind them.
"God Sterling, I... I finally caught up to you!"
Damn, this guy runs fast. Who would’ve thought such explosive power was hidden in someone with a charmingly cute appearance.
Paige looked helpless, "You’re quite the runner."
The young man scratched his head and said, "I’m a long-distance runner..."
The young man, blushing, walked up to Paige and handed her a small box.
"God Sterling, this—this is a gift for you, just a token of my appreciation, handmade by me, please accept it!"
After chasing her for so long with his heartfelt intentions, it seemed rude not to accept.
And since it was handmade, it probably wasn’t anything extravagant, so there was no harm in accepting it.
Seeing Paige actually reach out to take the box, Julian remained expressionless, taking it into his own hand and saying, "I’ll hold onto this for you."
Paige didn’t think much of it as she handed the box over to Julian.
The young man then wanted a photo with an autograph from Paige.
Paige was just about to agree when Julian coldly said, "We’re going home, no time."
Paige opened her mouth, but Julian silenced her with a kiss on the head, murmuring, "Darling, it’s time to go home."
The young man looked heartbroken, "God Sterling, are you really married?"
Paige nodded, "This is my husband."
The young man looked at Paige for a moment before running off with tears in his eyes.
He seemed like a heartbroken boy with nowhere to place his sorrow.
Paige, "...What happened to him?"
Julian said, "Young people these days are , don’t worry about it, let’s head home."
Paige responded with an "Oh," followed Julian for a couple of steps, and then noticed that Julian was only carrying a pink rabbit. Suddenly, she realized.
"Wait, where’s the gift you were holding for me?"
Julian feigned innocence, "I must have dropped it somewhere."
Paige knew he did it on purpose, "How could you? That was a gift from someone."
Julian looked at her, "I can give you a gift too."
"It was filled with thoughtfulness."
Julian said, "And my gifts aren’t thoughtful?"
Paige, "...Mr. Hawthorne, if you keep being this petty, I can’t live !"
Mr. Hawthorne immediately adopted a sincere attitude of admitting his mistake, "It won’t happen again."
Paige, "...", accepting the apology was one thing, but she knew Mr. Hawthorne would never change.
Paige and Julian returned home, only to find an uninvited guest.
Paige asked, "Burt Chambers, what are you doing here?"
Burt grumbled, "Ask my dad."
Sonny Chambers looked envious, "My dad sent him here too, so annoying! Paige, get rid of him!"
He’d spend every day complaining to Paige about how miserable he was because of Burt, but in reality, he was afraid Burt would steal all the affection. What a cunning little brother.
Paige called up Ben Patton to talk to Uncle Chambers, "Uncle, what’s the deal with Burt Chambers?"
Uncle Chambers sighed, "Ah, the kid’s grown up, and we can’t control him anymore. He’s most afraid of you now, Paige, so I’m counting on you..."
Paige felt cornered, not wanting to agree, but she hadn’t even spoken when Uncle Chambers conveniently passed the buck.
"Paige, my dear niece, I’m relying on you..."
Paige, "...", was she turning into a teenage delinquent correction center?
After hanging up, Julian was watching Paige intently. The rıghtful source is 𝔫𝔬𝔳𝔢𝔩⚫𝔣𝔦𝔯𝔢⚫𝔫𝔢𝔱
Paige looked at Burt, hoping he’d have the sense to leave on his own.
But Burt looked at Sonny, expecting Sonny to throw a fit to drive him away.
Sonny, on the other hand, gazed at Julian, sending him frantic signals: Show some authority as the head of the house! Quickly, get him out of here.
In short, no one wanted Burt to stay. Burt himself didn’t want to stay, but he didn’t dare leave on his own, nor did he want to provoke Paige into kicking him out, so he placed his hope in Sonny.
However, Sonny wasn’t up to the task.
The end result was that Burt stayed.
Having a small light bulb at home was one thing, but now there was a big one too. Julian’s mood never improved.
What’s more, Burt had no self-awareness at all. Sonny knew to keep his distance from Paige in this household, but Burt had no such notion. He would snuggle up to Paige every day.
Whether it was something trivial or not, he’d cling to Paige’s arm to act cutesy.
At the moment, Paige was in the lab, and Burt, most curious about her gadgets, was circling around her, asking questions.
Paige patiently answered him.
Julian sneered softly, while Sonny silently lit a candle for Burt.
After a short while, Burt came out, and Julian, seeing Paige still busy in the lab, threw a book directly at Burt’s head.
Just after Julian threw the book, Paige emerged from the lab.
Burt’s eyes immediately fell on Paige.
