Chapter 168: Chapter 168
"Do you think I’m worried about you? I’m heartbroken for that girl, hoping she sees through you soon so she won’t be fooled by someone as worthless as you."
"I am your brother, how could you keep calling me worthless like that?"
"You’re deceiving girls’ feelings and even want to deceive them physically. If you’re not worthless, then what are you?"
Burt Chambers attempted to defend himself, but Paige Sterling walked over and kneed Burt in the stomach, "Who taught you this stuff? Huh?"
The Chambers Family was still quite strict, with Evan Chambers being a gentleman since childhood, so why is Burt so unscrupulous?
As for Sonny Chambers...
He seems like a slippery character too, but Paige firmly believes that if she disciplines him hard enough, he’ll figure out how to behave properly in the future.
Burt let out a miserable scream and bent over clutching his abdomen, "Paige Sterling! You’re way out of line, I’m going to tell Mom!"
"No need for you to say anything, I’ll tell her myself."
If no one manages this situation, Burt is going to become the kind of privileged brat that brings ruin to the entire family.
Burt is truly scared, knowing if his dad and brother find out, they’d beat him to death.
"Cousin, listen to my explanation, I just made a mistake that young people regret, please don’t be so cruel to me..."
"Your brother will only give you the kind of punishment that young people need."
Paige turned and sent the video to Evan Chambers, so he could take care of his brother.
Burt wanted to cry, feeling too scared to go home.
However, as soon as Paige sent the video, Evan Chambers took quick action and had the bodyguards forcibly drag Burt back with violence.
When Paige was in the Chambers Family living room, she saw Burt with a face full of despair being dragged into the study.
"This rotten kid was spoiled by the family from a young age," said Uncle Chambers.
Uncle Chambers believed he had successfully raised his eldest son to be an outstanding heir, so he was more indulgent and pampering towards the other two sons. Who’d have thought that at such a young age, this kid would dare to do such things?
Make it seem small, and it’s just a child’s ignorance.
Make it seem big, and with Burt Chambers behaving , who knows what he might do in the future, especially since he’s fully aware that he’s playing with people’s feelings.
That’s why Paige is right; disciplining a child should be done early, as letting things slide is no longer an option.
Burt Chambers seemed to have settled down quite a bit after being disciplined, but he still looked at Paige with a grimacing face. ɪꜰ ʏᴏᴜ ᴡᴀɴᴛ ᴛᴏ ʀᴇᴀᴅ ᴍᴏʀᴇ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs, ᴘʟᴇᴀsᴇ ᴠɪsɪᴛ 𝔫𝔬𝔳𝔢𝔩⟡𝘧𝙞𝙧𝙚⟡𝘯𝘦𝘵
Not that Paige could be bothered by his feelings of love and hate; whenever she sees him, she teaches him a lesson.
And as Paige became the model child for other families, now, when adults in their social circle discipline their kids, they often say: Look at Paige, and then look at yourself...
Especially Angus Langdon, who usually hangs out with Austin Xavier, the epitome of a spoiled rich kid.
Austin Xavier is even better off than him, as he’s started taking over the company.
But Angus seems to fail at everything he does; Mr. Langdon can hardly dare to hand over the company to him, so he constantly uses Paige to motivate him.
But this only made Angus harbor even more resentment against Paige.
Everyone’s a second generation wealthy kid, why can’t you just quietly enjoy life like a traditional rich kid?
Having a Julian Hawthorne is enough; why do you, a girl, have to strive so hard? Now it leads to his parents nagging him every day.
He’s not the only one feeling this pain; many spoiled kids he hangs out with feel the same way.
A bunch of spoiled rich kids gathered together, pondering how to create trouble for Paige and hoping she’d keep a low profile in the future.
Angus grumpily said, "I don’t want to provoke Paige."
Angus replied, "I think one Paige could take down three of me."
"How can you say that? One Paige could clearly take down a hundred of you."
Angus glared at his friends, "Then why are you calling us to our deaths?"
"We’re not going head-to-head with Paige, just going to scare her so she’ll know we’re not to be trifled with..."
Angus thought this made sense; the group quickly decided on a target.
So, when Paige and Miles Morgan were heading down to the basement parking garage from Penson at night, they discovered the garage lights were completely off, with only one light on.
The light was dim, and from an even darker area, ominous sounds echoed.
Miles was terrified, "Paige, what’s that sound? It’s so scary..."
Paige replied, "The sound of ghosts wailing."
Miles also shrieked, "Ghost Ghost Ghost..."
Seeing Paige actually walking towards the shadows where the sound came from, Miles hurriedly grabbed her.
"Why are you heading there? Let’s just run away!"
Paige looked at Miles, "You’re this scared?"
Miles was a bit embarrassed, "I’m not scared, I just think it’s getting late, we should go home and wash up, sleep, don’t explore unknown things..."
Paige, with a determined look, "I always have a strong curiosity for the unknown. If you’re scared, you can leave now..."
Miles thought for a second, "Fine, I’ll just stick with you."
He declared righteously, "As a man, I can’t leave you alone, Paige."
Paige, "[speechless]"
The two walked to a door at the end of the parking garage, which seemed to lead to a storage room.
Seeing Paige going to open the door, Miles stepped forward to show off.
"You stand here, Paige! Let me do it!"
With a heroic and swaggering demeanor, he made a gallant gesture before lifting his foot to kick the door.
But instead of kicking the door open, he hurt his foot, and his face turned green from the pain.
Paige looked at him like he was an idiot, then pushed the door inward, and it opened...
Ugh, the door opens inward...
The lighting inside the storage room was incredibly dim, and suddenly entering from a bright place into such darkness made it hard for eyes to adjust, only seeing a pitch-black void.
Miles shrank behind Paige, as the eerie laughter made his scalp tingle.
"My eyeballs have fallen out, my eyeballs have fallen out, could you please give your eyeballs to me, please, please..."
The words "please" echoed endlessly, causing Miles’ feet to start trembling.
He wondered whether he could still run away at this point.
Just as he thought so, he suddenly felt something flash before his eyes, as if something floated by.
He nervously grabbed Paige’s foot, "Paige, Paige, did you see something float by?"
Paige calmly answered, "I saw it, it’s right under my foot now..."
Miles looked down, and in the dim light, saw a trembling body under Paige’s foot.
Miles, "[speechless]"
He used his phone to switch on the flashlight and moved in closer to shine a light.
Seeing the horribly green face under Paige’s foot, Miles was about to scream, but the grotesquely green ghost responded faster, yelling "Ghost!"
Miles’ scream instantly got stuck in his throat.
The grotesquely green ghost kept yelling and frightened himself into fainting.
Miles, "[speechless]"
Soon, another figure floated by, eerily whispering, "Where’s my tongue, where has my tongue gone?"
The figure drifted past, quickly returned, and floated back and forth in front of Paige.
