Chapter 9: Chapter 9
Sage didn't get to visit today. Now the castle seems to be quieter than it already is. I haven't really planned anything for today. I've already cleaned the whole castle for the last few weeks. So what now? I'll probably sleep the entire day. Yeah, I'm productive like that. Besides, I feel so idle to do anything. This endless exhaustion must end today.
A contented smile graced my lips upon sipping from my cup of chocolate. I'm here in the kitchen, sitting peacefully but then got interrupted by some blonde dude.
“Do you want to get sweaty?”
It was none other than Gideon. His blonde hair now wet and a bit disheveled. Those blue eyes glistened with amusement. He's always a bright person, his smiles made me want to smile as well.
Get sweaty?
Uh, that’s not what I'm planning exactly.
“Come on! I'll teach you how to fight.” My brows rose with a slight spark of interest. Huh, I've never learned how to fight before.
I hesitantly shook my head, “I don't think–”
“It's sunny outside. Sunlight is good for you. Look at your skin! So pale I almost thought you're one of us.” He laughed at his own remark. I gave him a deadpanned look. It’s hard for him to be serious at times, he’s too playful for a grown up man.
Gideon dragged me outside on the field, under the mild heat of the morning sun. The weather is indeed good but not as good as staying inside and taking a peaceful nap.
“Gideon!” I cried, trying so hard to plant my feet on the ground so that he won’t be able to drag me but I was light and he’s just that strong.
“It'll be fun! I promise.” He grinned playfully
I didn't even get to wear my slippers because this kid right here dragged me so fast. I frowned at the sight of my bare feet. The grass underneath my feet is soft and warm. The air is also warm and refreshing.
With a confused look, I raised a brow. What now?
“Hit me.”
“What? No! You're crazy.” I shook my head and took a step back.
“Just come at me. I dodge pretty quickly so don't worry.” A sly smirk stretched on his lips.
Raising my both arms, I followed Gideon's fighting stance and aimed to punch him in the face but as he said earlier, he's really good at dodging my attacks. I didn't give up though. I kept pushing fast punches towards him which he dodged pretty quickly.
God, I really suck at this. My movements were sloppy and predictable. Gideon was all smiles as he taught me. He’s really enjoying this, isn’t he?
He ran his tongue over his lower lip, “Every punch must be fast and hard.” I tilted my head, slowly nodding.
Gideon explained as he showed me the proper stance and move to aim and punch. I nodded my head, trying to process every single word he said.
Gideon came at me with a punch but I managed to dodge it and take a step backwards.
My lips parted, startled. “What the hell?”
“What? You dodge it just fine. It means you're learning.” He says, smiling.
We went on and on again. It was fun indeed, but tiring. To my surprise, Gideon was patient with me throughout the day.
“Okay, let's take a break.” He said, sitting on the grass. Finally, a break! I thought I’ll die today. My body seems to easily get tired these days.
I sat across from him on the ground, “I’m glad you’re a fast learner.” Gideon spoke, his eyes fixed on the sky. Hues of pink and orange taint the bright blue sky, it was beyond beautiful.
A chuckle escaped my lips, “I’m surprised myself.” I laughed
A couple of minutes passed, Gideon and I saw Izaac walking alongside a woman. The two were heading inside the castle. The woman has this wavy, dark hair that ends just above her waist.
Gideon beside me whistled, “Those two really.” He laughed
“Who’s that woman?” I asked
He looked at me with raised brows, “Oh, that’s Heather. Izaac’s girlfriend.” A smirk stretched on his lips.
“How come she never visits here often?” I tried to sound less interested.
“She’s a busy woman. Izaac usually goes to her.”
Ah, that’s why Izaac is always gone. That made sense. I thought he’s just busy hunting.
“Oh.” I remained silent after that. I never thought Izaac had a girlfriend.
Gideon stood up, brushing off grass from his sweats. “Aren’t you hungry? Let’s just continue this tomorrow, yeah?”
“Sure.” I said in a low voice.
He offered a hand; I grinned before taking his hand. Gideon helped me stand up. We were laughing because he won’t stop making jokes about almost everything. It was almost nightfall and the sun was slowly disappearing.
Huh, I didn’t even take a nap as I planned to do the whole day.
I stopped walking when I felt my throat flinch. A cough escaped my mouth, I was coughing blood. It wasn’t even dark red, it’s almost black.
“Shit, you okay?” Gideon held my back, slowly patting and rubbing it.
Dark blood pooled on the grass, it was disgusting.
“I’m fine.” I quickly wiped off the blood from my lips. The blood tasted ghastly in my mouth. The sickening stench of it filled my nostrils causing me to keep vomiting. Gross.
“I’ll call Ambrose.”
“No.” My voice came out firm and demanding.
Gideon looked at me, confused. “You need help.” He says, worried.
A voice echoed out of nowhere, “Make him forget, Feyre.” The same soft, mellow voice whispered. It was none other than the redhead lady. I’m certain it was her. Somehow, I trust her words.
For some reason, my palm reached out for his forehead. His body came stumbling down and he fainted. My eyes widened at my sudden action, my lips were shaking as I held my lips. It’s better if they don’t find out about what happened.
“I’m sorry.” That was all I could say before running to the woods. I didn't want to go inside yet so I ran in the opposite direction, into the forest.
Fear and anxiety pumped through me as I ran hastily, not looking back. I was tired, my body is tired but I have no choice but to take a run for now. A shriek escaped my mouth as I stumbled down the ground. Turns out my feet hit a dead tree branch.
A flash of image came running in my mind. It feels like deja vu, like this already happened before. I was running. I was being chased down. Their voices inside my head wouldn’t stop screaming my name; they were calling me. One thing I am sure of is that they’re enemies.
