Chapter 14: Chapter 14
So his name is Cassius Baltimore huh? What is the prince doing hunting in Emberton when he lives far away from our area? I’m pretty sure he has people serving him with blood and all. It’s just strange.
Maybe, I was just mistaken. The Cassius I met in the woods and the prince must’ve been two different people. It must be all a coincidence, right? But hell, the resemblance is uncanny.
“Can I come?” I asked Izaac when he mentioned they have a plan to hunt tomorrow morning.
“That’s up to Ambrose.” He clicked his tongue and smiled at me.
“But I think he’ll let you come knowing Gallo might have planned something while we’re gone. It’s best you come with us.” Izaac added, tilting his head.
“Who is Gallo anyway?” I must ask it; surely he’ll give me answers.
Izaac furrowed his brows. I notice it’s a habit of his.
“He’s an enemy of many. Surely, you’ve read about werewolves being vampires’ natural enemies?” His lips parted as he looked at the sky.
“Gallo killed many people including my sister.”
I let him speak his thoughts, “Izzie was the only family I had and I saw how that bastard laughs ripping her flesh into shreds.”
Oh, god. That’s just cruel. “I’m sorry.” I didn’t know what else to say.
“It’s all in the past now. The only reason that sick fuck is still alive because Ambrose won’t let me kill him.” This is the first time I see Izaac this mad. His teeth gritted, jaw tightened.
“Why didn’t you?”
It’s like Ambrose has this full control over them.
“It’s an order from Ambrose, I must obey.” His eyes darkened even more.
Everything became so heavy, it felt a bit awkward.
“So, um. Gideon taught me some basics in fighting.” I said, trying to break the silence.
His brows shot up. “Hm, did he?”
“Yes,” I replied, proudly. What? It’s something to be proud of! I learned something new and did I mention Gideon said that I’m a fast learner?
Izaac frowned, “Do you like Gideon?”
That made me still. Where did that come from?
“Yes, he’s nice. I like him but it’s not like that.” I explained. I don’t even know why I am explaining to him. Besides, it is entirely none of his business.
Those green eyes narrowed, “Hm, not like that.” He repeated what I just said while nodding his head slowly. A ghost of a smile appeared on his lips.
“I will show you what I’ve learned but maybe next time.” My lips stretched into a small smile.
Izaac turned to me, his eyes glinting with amusement. “Show me then.”
“We’re literally on the roof.” I said
“I can do something about that.” That smirk made my heart race in nervousness.
He carried me with his muscular arms and jumped onto the balcony’s rail. Oh my god, I am going to die. Izaac jumped again and we landed on the ground outside the castle.
I wiggled off of his grip before slapping his arm. “Don’t do that!” God, he almost gave me a heart attack!
Izaac smiled, “I can’t promise you that, angel.”
For some reason, the endearment seemed to piss me off. In irritation, I kicked his knee. He winced and landed on the ground holding his knee.
He stood up in a blink and he disappeared.
“You’re surprisingly strong.” A voice whispered in my ear, I could feel his chest on my back. His arm was positioned around my neck, as if strangling me.
Izaac’s hand caressed my waist, he’s so warm.
“Watch your hand.” I gritted my teeth, grabbing his hand and turning it over until I heard a crack of bone.
“Oh, god. I’m sorry!” I moved closer to him and raised his hand, checking if there’s really a broken bone. I didn’t mean to break his hand, I just felt so angry when he touched me like that.
I felt Izaac’s breathing on my neck, “I’m fine. It’s healed.”
“You broke my hand.” Izaac chuckled as if there’s something funny.
I looked at him for a moment before smiling, “I did.” I crack a laugh.
I can’t believe I just broke someone’s hand. I glanced at his hand once again.
“Are you really fine?”
He nodded, “Yes. It’s fully healed.” He showed me his hand.
He was telling the truth, his hand really healed. I almost forgot. It’s one of the perks of being a vampire; they can also heal themselves in just seconds. They heal faster compared to me.
I was about to take a step back because we’re too close when Izaac pulled me by my arm closer to him. He tucked a red strand behind my ear. Those green eyes bore at me with lust. He noticed me staring at his lips.
“Fuck it,” Izaac held my chin up.
Then I felt something soft dampening my lips. My lips parted in surprise. His tongue pushed through and sucked my lips. The kiss was slow and steamy; I felt my cheeks heat up. His hand gripped my waist, pulling me even closer to him.
A soft moan escaped my lips.
My eyes widened and I pushed him lightly just enough to break our kiss. I held my head down in embarrassment. Oh my, what the hell just happened?
“We’re not supposed to...” I trailed off, I can’t think of what to say. It’s like my tongue has been cut off and no words are coming out.
He has a freaking girlfriend.
“Right. I’m sorry.” He looked away and held the back of his head.
The cool air embraced us. I bit my lips as I tried to cover myself because of the coldness, hoping he wouldn't notice my shaking shoulder. The silence was just uncomfortable.
“You’re cold. We should go back in.” He mumbled. I glanced over my shoulder, looking at the castle and simply nodded.
Once we got inside, I heaved a sigh of relief when I felt warmth around my body. I quickly excused myself to Izaac and went up to my room. I’m pretty sure I won’t be able to sleep because of what just happened. It’s almost sunrise, I didn’t even get to see the sun on the rooftop.
