Chapter 27: Chapter 27
"Which teacher's classroom is this?"
Walking down the corridor, Mo Ying and Xiya saw a large group of students crowding around the door of a classroom. It looked extremely lively.
"This is Teacher Miria's classroom, the main instructor of the Magic Department."
Xiya glanced at the list in her hand and replied.
In the noisy crowd, Mo Ying jumped up and caught sight of the teacher standing at the podium through the sea of people.
Even though she only caught a glimpse, Mo Ying still let out a gasp of surprise.
Xiya was startled by Mo Ying.
"Xiya, Xiya, you'll know once you see that teacher."
Mo Ying said excitedly.
"What exactly did you see..."
Xiya rose up on tiptoe, looking ahead.
She saw wings. Yes, those wings woven from countless white feathers.
Xiya immediately thought of this race.
That pair of wings was the signature feature of angels.
Angels, also called Celestials, were different from other races. Angels were rarely seen; they usually lingered in the angelic cities above senior high, so encountering an angel anywhere was quite an extraordinary event.
Teacher Liushu had mentioned before that non-human teachers would be coming to Dreamscape Academy, but she never expected an angel would show up.
No wonder there were so many students lingering here.
Originally, Mo Ying had wanted to attend this angel teacher's class as well, but unfortunately, the classroom was so packed with students that there was no room for them at all.
So Mo Ying and the others could only stand at the doorway and listen. In fact, even the doorway was full of other students.
Just one Magic Department class could attract so many students. Teachers of other departments must be having a much easier time.
Mo Ying stood quietly in the corridor, listening to Teacher Miria's lecture.
This teacher was clearly more responsible than Teacher Liushu, explaining things very carefully.
Mo Ying listened quietly as Teacher Miria explained the use of light magic. This new Magic Department teacher seemed far more impressive than the first-year teacher.
Unconsciously, class time was over.
Miria tidied up her books briefly and left.
As she passed by Mo Ying, she paused slightly.
"Didn't expect there to be a second light-and-dark duality..."
Although Miria's muttered words were soft, Mo Ying still heard what she said.
After Teacher Miria left, other classes ended one after another.
Today's lessons were over, and the students dispersed.
After having dinner in the cafeteria, night fell.
Instead of lying comfortably in her dorm and playing games, Mo Ying went to the library.
She wanted to try to learn about the angel race. Although there had been a special lecture on this race before, she hadn't paid close attention, so now she wanted to review for herself.
She found the relevant book on races, took it down, and opened to the first page, where there was a detailed account of angels.
[Angels are the strongest among all races in Yggdonia. In ancient times, angels once waged large-scale wars against this world. Only through the united resistance of the remaining races was the world spared from being unified by the angels.]
[Angels excel at light magic and aerial supremacy, and they are extremely proud.]
[Angels revere knowledge and love music. They often say: 'The way of wisdom: after reading ten thousand volumes, truth manifests itself naturally.']
[Angels are ranked in three grades: upper, middle, and lower.]
[Grades 7 to 9 are the lower angels without wings: 9th grade angel, 8th grade archangel, and 7th grade principality angel.]
[Grades 4 to 6 are the middle angels living in angelic cities: 6th grade power angel, 5th grade virtue angel, and 4th grade dominion angel.]
[Grades 1 to 3 are the upper angels guarding Valhalla: 3rd grade throne angel, 2nd grade cherubim, and 1st grade seraphim.]
[Among the 2nd grade angels, the most outstanding nine are called the Ten Edges.]
[The Ten Edges are ranked from strongest to weakest, with the higher ranking ones being more powerful.]
[The first Edge of the Ten Edges is held by a 1st grade angel. Throughout history, only three 1st grade angels have ever been born, and currently only one remains.]
[Angel wings come in three colors: black, white, and gold.]
[All angels are born with white wings. If an angel kills too many living beings, her wings will change from white to black. As for why a very few angels have gold wings, this remains unknown.]
[All angels share a single faith, which they refer to as 'Our Lord,' known to us as the Supreme Wing.]
Having finished the angel race introduction, Mo Ying closed the book.
It all seemed so complicated and a bit too fantastical, not really relevant to her current life.
The strongest race that once declared war against all others—angels.
Hmm... That was the only detail Mo Ying remembered.
When she was about to put the book back, she caught sight of a line of red text on the back cover.
These words were very striking.
[Note: Warning, absolutely never insult the Supreme Wing in front of an angel. They are the most fervent believers and will never allow their faith to be defiled by others. Some extreme angels don't even permit other races to mention the Supreme Wing. Angels will offer everything for the Supreme Wing.]
That was a bit too extreme...
After reading this line, Mo Ying put the book back.
She stood there thinking for a moment, feeling she still couldn't quite comprehend the angel race.
Do all angels truly give everything for this so-called Supreme Wing?
That was just too baffling...
Mo Ying turned and left the library, now having a slight understanding of the angel race.
"I can die without regrets now that I've seen you come out of the library."
Just as she exited the library, Mo Ying saw Liushu holding a flashlight.
"It's so late... Teacher Liushu, why are you still here?"
"It's not like I want to be. It's my night shift today, what can I do? A working man's hardship, you'd never understand."
"It's late, the library's closing. You should hurry back,"
"Teacher Liushu, do you know much about the angel race?"
"Not really, and honestly, I don't like them much. They don't like me either,"
Liushu shook his head.
"For all sorts of complicated reasons."
"Did your interest in angels come from Teacher Miria?"
Mo Ying didn't deny it.
"Recently, yggdonia has added three professions,"
Liushu suddenly switched topics.
"Hunter, order Keeper, law Enforcer."
"Haven't you already heard Teacher Zhi Ying explain 'Hunter' in detail? They're a bunch who work for money. Every race has hunters, including angels and demons."
"Order Keepers are envoys of the gods, defending the order of this world."
"Law Enforcers are unique to the angels; their job is to ensure everyone follows the new rules set down by the gods."
"They're a very rigid race. Whatever the Supreme Wing says, they do it—never questioning consequences or reasons. That's why they're perfectly suited for Law Enforcer."
"If the Supreme Wing tells an angel to die, she'll die instantly without a single question." ᴜᴘᴅᴀᴛᴇ ꜰʀᴏᴍ NoveI[F]ire.net
"That's one of the reasons I dislike them."
Liushu lit a cigarette and told Mo Ying more about the angels.
