Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Year 3691 of the Luoyuan calendar, January 21st.

Yggdonia, Anzelona's Dreamscape Academy.

"Alright, you little punks, class is starting. Sit your asses down."

A rather shabbily dressed man strode into the classroom.

"Huh? The old geezer actually made it to class on time? Did the bed finally kick him out?"

A female student looked at the teacher stepping in, her face full of disbelief.

"Little bunny, calling me 'old geezer' is a bit much, don't you think? At least call me 'teacher', huh?"

The teacher replied lazily, stifling a yawn.

"Fine, fine, I get it, teacher. But could you please stop calling me 'little bunny'?"

The girl called 'little bunny' protested with obvious reluctance.

The girl's real name was Luo Ji. She had earned the nickname 'little bunny' after once playing the role of a white rabbit who saved the heroine during a school play.

Luo Ji wasn't wrong. Normally, this teacher would be the last one to show up. Why was he so early today? Did his bed finally throw him out?

"Mr. Liushu, why did you come so early today?"

Luo Ji raised her hand, pressing her question.

The teacher's official name was Jiuzhi Liushu. He was notoriously laid-back, bearing scars on his face, looking like a weathered uncle, with poor dress sense and zero fashion taste.

"That'll have to do with last night. Last night, while I was out drinking—"

"Mr. Liushu! You were supposed to be on duty last night, but you went out drinking!"

"Little bunny, do you want a zero on your next exam?"

"I didn't say a word! Didn't hear a thing!"

Luo Ji immediately settled down.

"Did any of you hear anything?"

Liushu stared down at the students.

The students below all shook their heads in unison.

"That's good. Extra credit for the whole class on the next test."

This teacher really did things on a whim.

At that moment, the bell signaling the start of class rang.

"Alright, alright, class is starting. What subject do we have today, let me check the schedule."

Liushu pulled out his phone and glanced at the timetable.

"Oh, history class today. Little bunny, hand me your history book."

"Then what am I supposed to read?"

"Read your deskmate's."

Had this teacher really gotten this irresponsible? All the students were thinking the same thing.

"Now, let's learn a bit of history. First—"

Liushu had just flipped open the book when, all of a sudden, two people popped into existence and crashed onto the floor.

"Whoa, another foot or two and you two would've hit me in the face."

Liushu put the book down.

"Mr. Liushu?! You're actually on time?!"

The newcomers were two girls: one named Mo Ying, the other named Xiya.

"Mo Ying, did you oversleep again just because you could use Xiya's spatial power?"

Liushu leaned against the podium, glancing at the two girls.

"I didn't! Don't go making things up,"

"With Xiya's spatial jump, you can get from the dorm straight to class in a second. I honestly can't fathom how you two managed to be late again. This is your fifth time this semester, Mo Ying,"

Liushu said, checking the time on his phone.

Can this class end any sooner? Liushu thought to himself—the teacher was even more eager to get out than the students.

"Mr. Liushu is always later than me, and yet he knows when I'm late!"

Mo Ying was even more shocked.

"I know all the tricks you little punks pull. Mo Ying is bad enough, but Xiya, you're going along with her too?"

Liushu called Xiya's name several times, realizing she was unresponsive.

"What the hell are you doing?! Xiya's passed out under you!"

Mo Ying scrambled to get off Xiya.

"Xiya! Xiya, you can't die, Xiya!"

Mo Ying shook Xiya wildly.

"Keep that up and you really will shake her to death. Take her to the nurse's office, quick."

Liushu held his head in frustration.

Mo Ying hoisted Xiya onto her back and dashed out of the classroom.

"Alright, minor incident aside, let's continue class."

Liushu feigned composure, picking up the book again and gripping a piece of chalk in the other hand.

"What lesson was this again?"

The students all looked speechless.

"Teacher, teacher, look at the book in your hand."

Luo Ji reminded quietly.

"Hm? Oh, right, this is history class. Let's talk about the ancient Celestial Serpent Hunt. That battle—"

"Teacher, you already talked about that."

Luo Ji covered her face, seemingly embarrassed to remind him yet again.

"I already did? Uh, let me see, let's talk about the Lost Ones' Uprising long ago, that's a story about—"

"Already heard that one too."

Another student piped up.

"That one too? What else can I use to kill time..."

Liushu scratched his head.

"Teacher, you told us about the Angel Rebellion too."

Yet another student raised a hand.

"I know that one." ᴛhis chapter is ᴜpdated by novel·fire·net

Liushu lied. He actually didn't.

"Then how about the Gods' War between the Goddess of Fate and the Goddess of Time, six hundred years ago? Haven't told that one, right?"

Just in case, Liushu made sure to confirm.

"No, you haven't," the students all replied.

"Good. Then let's talk about this war of the gods."

"This was a divine war called 'The End'. The Goddess of Time from the Celestial Domain went berserk and fought with the Goddess of Fate."

The continent they lived on was called Yggdonia, and above it lay a higher world known as the Geluo Celestial Domain—a place said to be home to the gods.

And it wasn't just legend; plenty of events had proven the existence of gods, and the Geluo Celestial Domain was indeed real.

"In that battle, the skies shattered, the earth crumbled, mountains and seas flipped upside down. Not a patch of ground was left whole. Valhalla, built in the sky, nearly dropped out of the heavens. If the other gods hadn't maintained the balance, the Celestial Domain might've come crashing down, and when it collided with our world, we'd all have been doomed,"

"Teacher... you aren't making this up, are you? There's nothing like that in any of our history books."

Luo Ji had flipped through her deskmate's book for a long time but found no mention of such an event.

"What? It's not in the book?"

Liushu checked the , and there really was no record of it.

"This history book's way too behind the times,"

Liushu pushed the blame onto the book.

"Teacher, who won between the Goddess of Fate and the Goddess of Time? And what started their fight?" a student asked, looking sincerely interested in the story.

"What started it? I don't remember, maybe the Goddess of Time went insane or something. And who won... ah, well, that was—"

Just as Liushu was about to reveal the answer, Mo Ying returned.

Mo Ying entered the classroom.

"The winner of that war was—"

*Ding-ling-ling*, the bell signaling the end of class rang.

"Alright, class dismissed, ten-minute break,"

Liushu said, slamming the book shut and making for the door without a second's pause.

And so, the answer was never revealed.

As Liushu reached the doorway, he noticed a girl with long pink hair standing outside. She met his gaze with a look of curiosity and confusion.

"Oh, crap, I'm such an idiot,"

Liushu cursed himself.

"Wait up, you little punks, don't leave yet. Stay in your seats."

Liushu turned back around.

"Oh wow, Mr. Liushu, who usually can't wait to bolt out at break time, actually came BACK?"

Mo Ying rubbed her eyes, as if she couldn't believe what was happening.

Everything today was too out of the ordinary. Not only had Liushu arrived on time, but when the bell rang, he'd even come back to the classroom.

"I forgot something just now."

Liushu cleared his throat once everyone was seated.

"Our class has always been short a student, right? Well, today we've got a transfer student joining us."

"A transfer student? From the Magic Department or the Martial Department?"

Mo Ying raised a hand to ask.

"How should I know? That's not my job,"

Liushu replied, walking over and ushering the pink-haired girl inside.

Liushu sneaked a peek at her Sky Crystal ID card.

"This is Shuang Yun, our new classmate,"

"Teacher... you didn't just forget the transfer student and leave her standing outside for an entire class, did you?"

Mo Ying saw right through him.

"How could that happen? Fine, maybe that did happen,"

A chorus of boos erupted from the class.

"Alright, alright, settle down. Let's just finish the new student introduction so we can all get on with our break. Maybe you all don't care, but I do,"

Liushu knocked on the podium.

"Hello everyone, my name is Shuang Yun. I chose the Martial Department since I don't have much magical talent. Today's my first day at Dreamscape Academy, please take care of me."

Shuang Yun introduced herself politely.

"Martial Department, eh? Mo Ying here is the toughest in our Martial Department. Maybe you can try to challenge her for the boss spot,"

Liushu pointed at Mo Ying.

The black-haired Mo Ying waved her hand, looking very proud.

"Senior Mo Ying, please look after me,"

"Alright, everyone, half of our precious break is gone already, so I'm out of here. Make sure you get along with Shuang Yun and don't pick on her—not that any of you could anyway. The Martial Department kids hit a lot harder than you lot,"

Liushu said, making a quick getaway.

Just as Mo Ying had said, every time class ended, Liushu wished he could sprout wings and fly out.

What kind of teacher was this?
