Chapter 20.

Harry shakes his head at Aliana when she is about to take my hand. ‘’You don’t get to do that when I can do it perfectly.’’ They both giggle but I maintain a straight face.

He holds my hand supportively and when we get to the reception, he nods at the nurses seated there. I swear this place is fancy. It doesn’t look like a hospital at all.

He waves a little to the people he meets. He is just this respected person and that’s evident, by the way, he is let to pass without questions.

Aliana is walking ahead of us and is walking really first.

‘’I hope you are feeling better?’’ Harrison whispers seductively, his warm breath hitting my ear and I nod. I don’t think I can open my mouth to talk now. I haven’t even said thank you to him for bringing me here and taking care of everything. I just hope my paycheck will not suffer the consequences. I need to get a few dresses from the market.

They will just be second hand, nothing much. My savings plan will have to be in place at whatever cost.

We head to the parking lot and believe it or not, Harry opens my door before she opens Aliana’s. I don’t wanna seem nosy so, I go in without hesitation when he opens my door and peals it once I have settled on my seat.

He gets Aliana’s door and I see her from the side mirror hesitate a little before jumping in and her door is boomed. Harrison goes round to open his own door and jumps in then clangs the door behind him.

‘’You okay, beautiful?’’ I nod, I am trying super hard to reserve my mean comments. I don’t want Aliana to learn of me as a rude and unappreciative type. It’s not that I don’t appreciate Harrison for what he did. Nah! I am so glad that he did this, I just feel like making fun of him a little. Just a little. ‘’Alright, then I guess we can start up already.’’

‘’Be sure not to mess, Harry,’’ Aliana says quietly and he tilts his head to the back to have a clear view of her face.

‘’What do you mean?’’

‘’Be careful, Harry. No chit-chatting as we head home.’’ I catch the teasing in her words and I fight so hard to keep the smile that is about to form on my lips at bay.

‘’You got it, ma’am. I will not do that at all.’’ She goes back to her phone and I focus ahead when I feel Harry’s intense stare on me.

Knowing these guys, I don’t think there is a long distance between here and home but hey, I am bound to find that out in the next few.

No idea if it’s a few hours or a few minutes.

We can do that together though, right?

Harry passes me a glance and a smile. I check the rare view mirror and madam Aliana is busy typing away on her phone. She looks really beautiful and well-polished. No doubt she was born in one of those big and noticeable families.

Unlike some of us.

‘’Harry pulls out of the parking smoothly. I am acting clueless, without knowledge completely of whatever shit they were discussing in that upmarket hospital room. I think even to them, I don’t know anything. Aliana, on the other hand in her back left seat is quiet and is still busy on her phone. He goes at a very low pace until he hits the highway.

One thing I have noticed with Harrison, he is a fast but very careful driver. I don’t know if that’s for real but it is an observation I have made anyway.

We’re home in a few minutes. Harrison is such a thief because he keeps stealing glances at me. I smile internally when I think about that. I shouldn’t call him a thief anyway.

He gets out and gets Aliana’s door after warning me to stay put. ‘’Get well soonest, Clara.’’ She says before she gets out of the car and I manage to mummer a thank you in time for her to hear. I watch as she disappears into the door.

Harrison hops back in and his sensual eyes make me wanna blush badly but I am really happy when I maintain a straight face. I didn't know I could manage that.

I did it.

‘’Hey, don’t tell me you are okay, beautiful. Because you aren’t.’’ a smile, a genuine one curves my lips and with my gaze straight into his eye. I ignore his question.

‘’Thank you, Harrison.’’ He smiles, his stare still boring into mine.

‘’For what Clarita?’’ he is making fun of my name but I will not complain. He can do that because he has been a good boy, so far.

‘’For everything. I don’t know if you are the one who took me to the hospital but that’s not important. Thank you.’’

‘’You welcome. You know what? When Alia told me over the phone that you had fainted. I was so scared. I thought I would lose you, I don’t think I have ever been scared. I am extremely happy to know that you are well and that there is no problem.’’

‘’Where were you when she called? Had you gotten home? I remember you had just dropped me.’’ I ask quietly. He seems to be really relaxed. ‘’Sorry for the trouble, by the way.’’

‘’Don’t say that. There is no trouble in taking care of an angel like you." l blush noticeably at that. "I feel obligated and even though we are not related at the moment, I know that we will be in a matter of days. Anyway, from the time I set my eyes on you, you automatically became my responsibility and believe you me, I can do anything for you. Nothing excluded.’’ He explains patiently. ‘’I was home already and when she shouted, I was still on phone and I dropped everything to come and be with you. I was about to have a family meeting and I had to postpone that. Mum was really mad at me but that’s her own business, not mine.’’ I frown a little at him but relax when I realize that I can do absolutely nothing about him. He is sweetly stubborn and I know his mum now hates me double.

He brings his thumb to my face. He rubs my lips sensually and gently as he makes a puppy face to me. My eyes automatically close as I feel butterflies doing their thing in my stomach. My heart leaps with joy and I know that this dude has a lot of effect on me.

Opening my eyes in slow motion, I nod at him absently. ‘’Hey, what did my mistress want me to know? The moment I woke up, I heard her asking you if I knew. What was that all about?’’ he pulls his palm away from my face and I feel the spot he was holding getting cold.

‘’So many things. My life, sweetheart is fucked up. I will talk about that another day. You have to promise me one thing though.’’

‘’I am listening.’’

‘’Please don’t judge me. I will always be honest and frank with you. Let’s get you inside. I don’t wanna tire you with so much at the moment.’’ He skips out of the car and walks to my side to open the door for me. He helps me out of the car and I feel flattered. I am not even that bad and yet he treats me as if I am a queen.

Don’t get me wrong though. I don’t even know how queens are treated and yet I think he is treating me like one. Again, I am not complaining, I want to enjoy this as it lasts.

Inside, Tabby and Janet are so excited to see me. Madam Aliana mentioned that she wants to tell me why she wanted me interrogated but Harrison, my knight in a shining hurmour suggested that I take a rest first. He said that it wasn’t necessary to rush the talk.

I walk into our bedroom and have a long shower. I am not in a hurry to get out so, I take my sweet time. I am surprised to find Harry seated on the edge of my bed and I smile sweetly at him. I am glad that I am in my long bathrobe and not a towel.

‘’I need you to do me a favour.’’

‘’You are asking for too many of them.’’

‘’Please!’’ he begs, making me feel sympathy for him.

‘’Go ahead,’’ I say with my brows raised.

‘’I want you to rest to the maximum. I have told Janet to prepare some soup for you. You need to have strength before you can resume working.’’

‘’Okay, sir,’’ I say jokingly and he frowns. ‘’You are such a caring dad.’’

‘’I got the sarcasm, madam.’’ I am about to frown when he motions me to sit beside him. ‘’I will leave just for a bit but will come back for your and Aliana’s conversation. Let’s see why she wanted you interrogated, then.’’

‘’Thank you.’’

‘’You welcome, beautiful.’’ He smiles slightly after saying that as the door flies open.

Janet walks in with a bowl of soup in her hand at the same time that Harry stands up from the bad and turns on his heels walking out after kissing me on my forehead and wishing me a quick recovery and waving at Janet with a slight smile plastered on his face.

‘’Girl, you scared us. What the hell happened to you?’’ she asks hugging me tightly and I groan when I feel her tightening the hug

’’Nothing much, I am okay now.’’

‘’I can perfectly see that. This guy came here driving like a lunatic a few minutes after the boss called him. Madam Aliana was confused, she was so frustrated. I have never seen her like that before.’’

‘’that’s probably because you have never fainted before. I say good-humouredly and we both laugh at that. She hands me the soup which I really enjoy. I must have had been really angry. I am so grateful for him thinking as he did. He has saved my hungry self.

‘’Where’s Tabby?’’ I ask Janet quietly.

‘’She had to leave when that guy Harry wasn’t leaving your side but she promised to come check on you tomorrow. She was so scared that you would not be fine and when we so you come back, she was so excited. In fact, we both were very excited.’’

‘’Thanks, Janet.’’

‘’Why would you wanna thank me?’’

‘’Because you were there for me and now you are here. I know I have a sister and not just one, I have three sisters but it wouldn’t hurt if I added you to the list. You are God sent.’’

‘’I love you too. Be my sister as well, okay?’’ she asks and I nod.

I am done eating the delicious soup and I feel sleepy. I wonder if they had a sleeping tab dipped in it. She is busy folding some clothes in her bed.

It is already nightfall so, I close my big eyes smoothly and without a struggle. I feel like I will be falling asleep sooner rather than later

I wonder who that guy is his purpose for coming into my life and the impact he is just about to create. I wonder if I am going to be of any benefit to him and or if I am gonna create a rift on his family. Well, that’s something I can only stick around too long to find out and I am going to do that. Madam Aliana, why did she want me investigated? Do I look like a criminal? Is she missing something? Do I look like it? Maybe, maybe not but I am bound to find that out some time coming ahead.

My head will burst from all the thinking so, I push them aside. It is better if I just wait for a few hours and find out things from her. I am feeling a little headache but that will go as soon as I get enough rest.

I drift into a sweet sleep.
