Chapter 42: Chapter 42
Cassandra's POV
The next two weeks were pretty busy for me too. I coordinated with mom and Azura who took care of the wedding preparations for us. They made a very good team and bonded so well that mom contemplated inducting her into the event management team of their hotel where she worked. The pay would be higher and she would get a good exposure. She first wanted to have a talk with Adrian about it. I agreed immediately when mom told me her plans. In fact, I didn't need to bother at all as they took care of every minute detail for me. With my Ultrasound appointment coming up, Julian and I were more interested to hear our baby's heartbeat than anything else right now. Julian accompanied me to the doctor's chamber and for the first time, we heard our baby's heartbeats. It was an out-of-the-world feeling for Julian.
"You cannot imagine how happy I am today. Let's have a little lunch date, just you and I," he suggested after the doctor's visit. I was on cloud nine at the mention of food and my stomach grumbled all the more.
"Where are we eating? I'm in the mood for some juicy steak," I said, as I felt a deep craving for it. Julian smiled knowing how my cravings change every minute.
"I know just the place for you and junior. Hold on," he said with a grin and I chuckled as well. Julian drove us to an upscale steakhouse famous for its signature steak delicacies. It was obviously the first time for me at such a place. Julian took me to every type of restaurant, fast food, Italian, American, and Continental but first time to a steakhouse.
The food was good and we discussed our wedding in detail. I had no idea that Julian has been following every detail so minutely.
"Are the preparations going as per your taste or are mom and Azura pressurizing you with their choices?" asked Julian with a smile knowing how mom and Azura were.
"No, they're helping me and I'm grateful to them. They always ask me before taking any decision," I reassured him.
"Good, are you happy?" he asked and I smiled at him.
"Yes, very happy. It all happened like a dream come true for me. When I first met you, I never imagined that I would be marrying you. In fact, you didn't seem to be the marrying type to me," I admitted making him gape at me as if it was news to him.
"Oh, is it? So what did you think I was?" he asked with interest and I hesitated not wanting to hurt him.
"C'mon, you can tell me. I won't mind at all!" he tried to convince me with a smile playing on his lips.
"Some spoilt casanova who was playing with me!" I said with a chuckle, seeing his infectious mood. Julian laughed shaking his head with disbelief.
"Seriously? Then why did you check me out every time I went near you?" he asked with a twinkle in his eyes. I was appalled at his words.
"I never checked you out! You were the one who used to stare at me all the time," I protested making him chuckle while my cheeks turned red with embarrassment. Julian nodded, accepting my allegations.
"Guilty! It wasn't my fault that you're hot. I liked you, it was love at first sight for me," he admitted with a tender smile. I blushed, his words already melting me to the core. If it weren't a public place, I would have kissed him for saying such sweet words to me. I was surprised that he termed our feelings 'love at first sight! Didn't such a thing happen only in the movies?
"Do you believe in love at first sight?" I asked surprised that a guy such as him believed in something so romantic! I used to believe in it when I was younger but it all changed after being cheated by Desmond.
"No, never," said Julian. "But I do now, after meeting you," he admitted in a soft voice full of love.
"I do too, after meeting you," I admitted honestly and he gazed into my eyes with disbelief. I loved the little time we spent together, our little date. Julian dropped me home and went back to his office.
I saw mom chatting with Nora as she fed Max. The moment I entered, mom smiled at me.
"How did the ultrasound go?" she asked curiously.
"It went well. We could hear the baby's heartbeats distinctly. It's a baby girl," I told her. Mom looked excited.
"Wow! next time I too will accompany you," she said. Max finished the food in his mouth and gazed at me, his eyes full of questions.
"Baby?" he asked in his squeaky baby voice.
"Yes, Max. You're going to have a baby sister," said mom and his eyes widened with surprise.
"I love sister,' said Max, coming onto my lap and clinging onto me.
Mom updated me on the wedding preparations. The dress designs were ready and approved and Amelia was working on them. The cake was decided and ordered, the decorations would be handled by experts whom mom already contacted. The food and catering would be handled by their hotel's best chefs and their teams, with whom mom already discussed the menu.
Tristan took care of the tuxedos that the men would wear. Adrian was Julian's best man and I had already selected Azura as my maid of honor. I wanted Avery to be my maid of honor but she wasn't keeping well.
I wanted Aunt Caroline to walk me down the aisle as she was the only family I had. Two days later, Aunt Caroline and Avery visited me and we sat down and discussed everything in detail.
Mom and dad rented the mansion next door to theirs for the guests to stay over. So aunt Caroline and Avery were relieved at the arrangements and promised to arrive there three days prior to our wedding.
I smiled, relieved that the wedding preparations were taken care of by my family.
