Chapter 110: Chapter 110
''My love for you is a journey, starting at forever and ending at never.'' - theauthorlove.com
Claire's POV
Jason didn't let me return to aunt Emily's house. He had all my stuff packed and shifted to his house.
"What will aunt Emily think? She would be lonely without me," I told him but he didn't pay attention.
"You can't stay with her forever love, you have to move in with me after marriage," he said with an eye roll as if explaining to a child. My cheeks colored knowing that I would soon be married to him. I couldn't imagine what married to him would feel like.
"Why do you call me that?" I asked the question which I wanted to since the first time he called me 'love'.
"Because I love you, you're my love. Simple. I thought you'd figure it out," he stated with an eye roll but I grinned nevertheless and went to hug him before he left for work. Wasn't he adorable? Knowing that he had loved me for a long time made me fall more in love with him.
I would have my own car and chauffeur to take me to college and back till I was better and old enough to drive. I am eighteen, but Jason still considered me to be too young to drive. He was worst than dad, actually. No wonder dad loved him so much!
After college, I returned home and called up Stefan to inform him about what happened. He was happy for me. He was with my parents at their house, so he handed the phone over to mom.
"Did you shift?" Mom asked to my surprise.
"Yeah, but how did dad give permission?" I asked but mom chuckled.
"Jason is a good guy and he loves you. You both will get married eventually, so why not?" said mom and I felt so embarrassed talking to her about my love life.
"Thanks, mom,", I said.
"So did he propose?" Mom was curious to know.
"He confessed his feelings and asked me to be his girlfriend," I told her truthfully.
"Maybe he's taking it slow with you. I'm sure he will eventually ask you to marry him," said mom and I smiled, a giddy feeling washing all over me.
We chatted for some more time when a big box arrived by courier and I disconnected the call and went to receive it.
Opening it, I gasped at the contents. There lay before me was a beautiful black dress with an embellished neckline and flared pleated skirt. With it were matching black pumps and a pair of tear-drop pearl earrings. Who sent them? There was a note inside that read,
Be ready by 7 o'clock. We're going on a date. Love Jason
I squealed with delight. I was too excited throughout the afternoon to focus on any homework, so I just went downstairs fidgeting around when Mandy caught me. She gave me a manicure, a pedicure, a body massage, and a luxurious bath and I wondered if it was Jason who had instructed her to.
I felt more relaxed and took a beauty nap. She woke me up on time and helped me get ready for my date. She curled my hair and left it untied. I gazed at the reflection of a radiant young woman staring back at me and couldn't believe that it was me actually. I looked so mature and gorgeous!
Jason came home and stood like a statue when he saw me as if he couldn't believe what he saw. " You're looking exquisitely beautiful, love," he said, opening his arms out to me. I didn't waste any time and flew into his arms. He held me close and I wrapped my arms around his torso, feeling his heart beating faster. All because of me!
"I love the dress, thank you, Jason," I said and he chuckled.
"Shall we go?" he asked, taking my hand and leading me out. The way he pampered me, I already felt like a queen, his queen.
He took me to an upscale restaurant where we had a private section booked in his name. The decor was contemporary yet classic with plants and beautiful lighting enhancing the atmosphere. There was a beautiful wall waterfall at the entrance, and the sound of gurgling water created a natural feel around the place.
We were seated and the waiter immediately took our orders and left.
We talked about our favorite foods, favorite movies, favorite books, favorite places in the whole world, and the best travel destinations that we'd been to.
"I loved our Auckland trip the best," I said truthfully.
His eyes shone with excitement as if he too agreed with me. "I also loved our Auckland tour. In fact, it was the best so far," he said and we grinned at each other as the unspoken reason was obvious indeed.
Our food arrived and we tucked in hungrily. It was the most amazing food I ever had, more so because of the company than anything else.
Afterward, a plate was placed in front of me with a heart-shaped strawberry shortcake on it. When I picked up my fork, I was stunned. On the edges of the plate was written with chocolate syrup,
Will you marry me?
There was a beautiful diamond ring on top of the cake. Oh my gosh, this was what I had been waiting for all my life! He was proposing to me! Tears of happiness sprang to my eyes when Jason got up from his seat and took the ring and went down on his knee in front of me. I could hear gasps and murmurs all around but they soon faded into the background as I gazed into Jason's beautiful eyes.
"Will you marry me, love? Will you be mine forever?" he asked, his eyes twinkling with hope, love, and promises of a fulfilling life together.
"Yes Jason, I've been waiting to marry you for the last ten years of my life," I said and he smiled at my confession and slipped the ring onto my finger, and then came up to gaze into my eyes. I turned my face up to his and closed my eyes, inviting him to kiss me. He caught my chin and claimed my lips in a possessive kiss. The sound of loud applause and everyone congratulating us had us come to our senses and release each other. We thanked everyone and Jason treated everyone present in the restaurant to free champagne.
We were too excited to have the dessert so the waiter packed it up and we left happily for home. I couldn't believe that I was now his fiancée. I couldn't wait to announce my new identity to my family. Dad would be so ecstatic since he had wanted this since I was born. Mom, aunt Sarah, and uncle Kevin would be very happy at this news.
We returned home and finished up our desserts. "Jordan's wedding is on Sunday. Will you attend as my date? We can announce our engagement to all," he said and I agreed.
"Yeah, that would be best. My family would also be present," I said, unable to wait till Sunday.
So, Jason took me shopping and bought me many gowns and dresses to wear to the wedding. His tuxedo was ready and he paraded around for me to see. He looked so handsome that I drooled at the sight of him.
"Now it's your turn. Wear the dresses I bought you," he said but I shook my head.
"No, you can see me on Sunday," I said with a wink and he groaned.
The wedding was taking place at the Susana Valley Country Club nestled in the foothills of Santa Susana Mountain. It was a lushly landscaped private club surrounded by green rolling hills. Jason told me that it was a paradise on earth and I waited eagerly for Sunday to arrive.
