Claire's POV
"I didn't do anything love," he said but I looked away from his troubled gaze. "I was in Hamburg for nearly one and a half months, tangled in a court case," he said sadly as I took in the information.
"What rubbish! I saw you with my own eyes," I told him. I wasn't accepting any of his alibis.
"You didn't see me, I was away, I told you. You've seen Jordan and his fiancée, Jennifer. He looks exactly like me. He was having problems with Jennifer. With their wedding two weeks away, mom sent them here in my absence to patch up. So they stayed here for nearly a month and a half and returned home yesterday," he said as my jaw dropped and I just stared at him incredulously.
All this time I was so wrong about Jason. I should have confirmed with aunt Sarah before coming to conclusions.
"After you left for New Jersey, I went to Hamburg and would have joined you in the celebrations but one of our container lines met with an accident off the port of Hamburg. Some of the goods on board were damaged and one of our clients slapped a lawsuit and dragged us to court. I was involved in a month-long legal battle and couldn't leave the city. I called you many times, but you didn't accept my calls. Then I started calling from different numbers, yet you didn't answer," he said sadly.
Tears started falling from my eyes. He went through so much, and I only added to his misery by misunderstanding him. I jumped into his arms, hugging him tightly to myself, hiding my face in his chest.
"Now promise me that you will not neglect your health like this ever again," he scolded, holding my chin as I looked up at him.
"I promise," I told him and he smiled sadly.
"When dad called me and informed me about you, I just worked with the insurance company and paid the client a huge amount and came here as fast as I could," he explained and I felt a little guilty for being the cause of his woes.
"You know you mean the world to me? Don't you?" he said as I nodded and he smashed his lips to mine in a smoldering and passionate kiss. I clung to him, kissing him back with equal fervor. Now that I had cleared the misunderstanding between us, I felt light, relieved, and a little euphoric. The fact that he didn't betray me made me so happy that I didn't know how to express it.
"I missed you so much," I said when he broke the kiss, breathing hard.
"I missed you more, love. You have no idea how much," he said, kissing my neck, and my shoulders, plunging his hand under my tank top and touching my breasts. I gasped at his hot touch, which encouraged him to yank it off me and latch onto my bare breasts with his hungry mouth, sucking like a newborn baby. His roving hands took off my small shorts and panties in one go as his hands explored my body.
He groaned and went down to my core, devouring me with his mouth like a hungry predator. Suddenly leaving me, he discarded his clothes and climbed over me, thrusting into me in one go. I moaned his name, as he increased his rhythm, thrusting in and out of me
till we climaxed together. He was immediately hard and aroused again and ready for more. I too couldn't get enough of him and we made love again and again till we were too exhausted to continue further. We lay sated in each other's arms, "I am so happy to be home to you, love," he said, kissing my forehead.
"I'm so happy that we still are together," I told him as he tightened his hold.
"We will always be together. This is forever," he whispered and it felt like music to my ears. I wanted to tell him that I loved him so much but his stomach grumbled and he explained how he came directly from the airport.
"I was too upset to eat anything," he told me, making me feel guilty.
We wore our clothes and went to the kitchen where Jason and I made dinner, a simple one-pot chicken pasta. After eating we were sitting on the sofa and watching TV when aunt Emily came in.
"So the cause of all heartache is here, at last?" said aunt Emily, causing my cheeks to color while Jason grinned.
"Marry her already," she said to Jason as she sat down opposite us. He chuckled while I wanted to hide from the two of them.
Her chauffeur brought in all the groceries that she bought and then left. Jason helped her put them away.
"Aunt Em, I've to sleep here tonight. Jordan and Jennifer have turned my house into a trash can. I have to get the place sanitized before I could stay there," said Jason as aunt Emily agreed.
"Tomorrow I'll call the cleaners. They're quite professional," aunt Emily said.
"Can I take Claire with me to my house in Manhattan Beach? I'll take care of her. Please aunt Em?" he asked.
"Since you're her therapist, I guess she'll recover faster with you," she grinned as Jason smiled happily.
I packed the stuff which I needed for tomorrow and went to sleep. Aunt Emily gave Jason her elder daughter's room to sleep in. I twisted and turned wanting to sleep in his arms when the door opened slowly and Jason peeped in as if he knew that I needed him. Quietly sneaking in, he locked the door and came to bed.
"Can't sleep?" he asked in a husky whisper and I shook my head. What was the use of lying? I was head over heels in love already and I guessed he knew it already by the stunt that I pulled.
"Me neither. Come here, love," he called me softly and I scooted towards him, wrapping my arms around him. It was sheer bliss and I closed my eyes feeling drowsy and drunk in his warm, manly scent.
