Chapter 65: Chapter 65
Stefan's POV
We planned to sing for the girls at the bonfire. I would be starting the song, 'Everything I Do, I Do It For You,' with the others joining in. Tristan would play the electric guitar as well as sing. We had done it before and therefore a brief rehearsal was all we needed. Jules took a peek to see what the girls were up to.
"They're putting up a dance performance, bro. All se*y moves to kill us on the spot!" Said Julian. We chuckled at his description.
So, finally, we started the party. The barbecue pit was started and in between rounds of delicious food, we all performed. My cousins put up a dance performance for us. Gran sang an old favorite and we all joined in. Mom and dad too sang for us. Then it was time for the girls to perform. I clutched at my heart to steady my heart when Rosy walked onto the makeshift pedestal. The others too followed and took up their positions. Tristan and Julian whistled, getting a punch from gran.
I loved the way Rosy looked in her green crepe maxi dress. She looked like a forest nymph and if I were alone with her, I would have devoured her right now. I glanced around to check if my brothers had noted my helpless condition. To my surprise, they too looked just as whipped as I did! The music started and my eyes were hooked on my bride, my Rosy. She gazed into my eyes and started her tantalizing moves. They had the power to shake the earth, while I was a mere human! It seemed as if she was dancing only for me. I couldn't look away, it seemed as if I was transported to a world of fantasy where only Rosy and I existed.
The performance came to an end and everyone stood up to applaud them. I came out 9f my trance and clapped for them. Rosy bowed like a diva, before getting off the pedestal with the others. Now it was time for the last performance. Ours! We all got up to take up our places. The girls sat eagerly waiting for us to start. The musical instruments were brought in. Tristan on his electric guitar and Julian handled drums while Adrian and I were the lead singers. It seemed as if we were back in high school. We started our performance, making Rosy see a side of me that she wasn't acquainted with. I watched her mesmerizing eyes as I sang for her. At the end of our performance, she had tears in her eyes. I knew I had touched her soul with my song. I held my arms open for her. She ran into them and I wrapped her in a warm embrace.
Everyone smiled warmly at us. "Aww, you two look so cute together!" gasped my cousin Eliana.
"Yeah, now quickly give us grandchildren, " said aunt Emily. Rosy blushed and released me instantly. Dinner was served and we sat down together to enjoy it. Afterward, Rosy and I walked down the path that led towards the lake, hand in hand. The moon shone brightly above us, the crickets sang their loud songs, and the leaves fluttered in the soft breeze. It looked like a magical night. I didn't want to go back and sleep in my room, alone. I wanted to protest and fight against the weird rules and compelled you to stay away from the one you love. No, I didn't want to follow it. I wanted to break all rules and stay with Rosy. We sat on the stone bench on the bank of the lake. I could spend the night here with her beside me.
"I don't want to sleep alone," I sulked, unable to control my feelings any longer.
"Neither do I but what choice do I have?" She said, leaning her head on my shoulder. I sighed and thought hard. A strange sense of desperation overcame me.
"I have an idea. When gran falls asleep, you come over to my room," I suggested but Rosy shook her head vehemently.
"No I'm scared," she said.
"What if I come over to get you? Say around 12:30 in the night?" I asked her. She nodded hesitantly but smiled nevertheless, taking my breath away. When everyone had nearly retired to their rooms, I too left Rosy at her door and went to wait patiently for an hour and a half.
I waited and waited, trying to watch some news to pass away the time. Finally, it was 12:30 at night and everyone had gone off to sleep. I tiptoed out of my room and walked stealthily towards Rosy's room. I attempted a soft tap and waited patiently. After five minutes, I was about to attempt another tap, when the door opened. I eagerly waited for Rosy to emerge but instead, the door opened wider and gran looked at me with an amused expression on her face.
"What exactly are you doing here, my boy?" She asked me, pulling my ears lovingly. I looked like a deer caught in the headlights. I hadn't expected gran at all!
"Umm, I forgot to say something to Rosy, " I somehow managed to utter.
"She's sleeping. Can't it wait till tomorrow?" asked gran, lifting her eyebrow and staring at me suspiciously.
"Oh, she's fallen asleep?" I asked, looking crestfallen and sad.
"No, Stefan. I'm awake, " protested Rosy from behind gran. Gran moved away from the door and allowed me into the room. I saw Rosy sitting on her bed and grinning at me. "What? Gran isn't sleeping so I had to tell her of your plan," she said to my utmost surprise.
"Oh, should I be alarmed?" I asked tentatively. They giggled at my reaction.
"No, silly! Gran has given her permission," said Rosy excitedly.
"Thank you, gran. I love you, " I told her, planting a kiss on her cheek.
"Good night, now let me sleep, " said gran with a chuckle.
"Good night, gran," we chorused softly, closing the door and tiptoeing back to my room. Finally, I had what I needed. Finally, I had Rosy with me. It was worth the effort!
