Chapter 39: Chapter 39

Annabelle's POV

We knocked on Mr. Warner's door and went in. He was typing away at his laptop with full concentration. He looked up at us and smiled at me. I smiled back, not wanting to look rude. Harry raised an eyebrow, looking from me to him. I didn't know what I'd done now.

"Here, the schedule is done,'' Harry said, handing Mr. Warner the schedule.

"Hmm, so you start at 9 am and get over at 3 pm?" he said looking up at me. I didn't know why he minutely checked my schedule. Did he do with all his employees?

" Yes sir," I answered, satisfied with my schedule and the timings.

"Thank you, Harry, you can get back to work," He said, as Harry turned to go with a nod. I was about to leave too with Harry when Mr. Warner's voice stopped me, "Please stay back, Ms. Carter. "

"Yes sir," I mumbled and Harry winked at me discreetly before leaving.

"Annabelle there's a new batch of 8-12-year-olds starting at 11 am today, for contemporary dance. Would you be able to handle that? " he said, watching my reaction. I noticed that he had switched to my first name.

"Yes sir, I can," I told him confidently. I had taken dance classes for all age groups independently at my own institute in New Jersey. It was no big deal for me.

"Michael," he said looking into my eyes.

"Excuse me?" I wasn't sure what he said. I was busy thinking about my institute in New Jersey.

"I said my name is Michael. Mr. Warner is my father," he said with an amused expression on his face.

"Okay," I said confusedly. He was my employer. How could I call him by his first name? I was about to leave when he called me again.

"Annabelle, meet me after your class." He said hesitantly. I knew Harry would tease me more on this.

"Yes sir,'' I said as he furrowed his eyebrows in a displeased manner.

"Yes M-Michael," I stammered awkwardly. A faint blush colored my cheeks since I was embarrassed to call my employer by his first name.

"That's better," he said smiling and looking very pleased and satisfied. He went back to his work on his laptop. I took that as my cue to leave and opened the door to his office and escaped. I went to the staff room to wait for my class. Thankfully no one was there. I waited for some time, memorizing my schedule. When it was time for my class, I left. Thankfully, I didn't have to face Harry's teasing.

My class was a mixed group of 15 children and pre-teens. We started with introductions, then warm-ups. I taught them the basic moves of contemporary dance. The whole class we practiced the moves with music and beats. At the end of the class, I was happy with the way the class went. Dancing was my life. It came from deep inside me. The students immediately warmed up to me after the first twenty minutes of interaction. I was glad that my first class went so well. After dismissing the students, I went to see Michael.

I knocked and went inside to see him on a phone call. He indicated that I should sit down in front of him. I checked my mobile for any message from Stefan as Michael was busy with his call. After 5 minutes he ended his call. "So how did your class go?" He asked me.

"It went well. Everyone enjoyed the class," I answered with a smile thinking about my students and my first class at this institute.

"Yeah, I noticed," He murmured but I heard him clearly. I was surprised that he had been watching me without my knowledge. Did he do that with all his employees? I didn't know. If I asked Harry, he would surely tease me.

"Oh, you did? I didn't see you," I said in confusion. How did he see me teaching? He wasn't present anywhere nearby.

"It was your first class. So I monitored it on CCTV," He said casually looking at his laptop. It felt so creepy, he could have informed me that he would watch and monitor. "You did well." He smiled yet didn't look at me.

"Oh thanks, anything else?" I asked standing up. I was feeling sticky and needed to freshen up.

"No, that would be all," he finally said with a faint smile tugging at his lips. He seemed weird though. I turned and opened his door and left his chamber.

I went to the staff room where everyone was having lunch. Sandra, Cassandra, who were cousins and Harry were sharing sandwiches and coke. Thankfully the two bi*ches were absent. I would have to avoid those two.

"Hey Anna, join us please," They chorused. I shook my head, declining their offer.

"I'm not hungry. Thanks, I'm leaving at 3 anyway," I said and they nodded. I didn't want to share in their lunch. I was going home anyway at 3. I would eat at home.

The door opened and Michael entered as everyone's eyes popped out. They gaped at him with their mouths hanging open.
