Chapter 152: Chapter 152
Amelia's POV
The next whole week Tristan tried to make up to me in different ways. One day he gave me flowers, another day, he took me out to dinner, the next day, he made a delicious Sundae for me, he arranged for a candlelight dinner at home, and so on. I had already forgiven him but his gestures made me feel special and wanted. I too made special dishes for him, and agreed to the weird poses of lovemaking that he suggested just to make him happy. After all, marriage is nothing but a never-ending affair of giving and taking, involving more of giving though. However, I was fine with taking whatever Tristan offered.
I kissed him and rushed out to the elevator. "I'll try to return home early," I told him, making him grin.
"Sure, else I'll make a burnt dinner for you. If you don't want that, you'd better come home early," he said, making me grin.
"Then I'll surely rush home before you do," I promised, as I stepped into the elevator and Tristan closed the door with a laugh. He needed to go to a construction site with Stefan and was waiting for him as they would be going together.
I left for my boutique, with a smile. The whole morning I was busy but after lunch, I just couldn't stay at the boutique any longer. I was feeling uneasy and had already thrown up my lunch.
After returning home, I threw up twice. I took some medicine and lay down already feeling exhausted. I might have dozed off to sleep. When I woke up, the sun was about to set and I gasped in surprise. How long did I sleep? My head reeled and I just couldn't get up. After a while, I felt a little better and went to the kitchen to see what I could eat. I made a bland soup and sat down to eat it. The door opened and Tristan walked in. He grinned when he saw me.
"Oh, you're already back? I thought I would surprise you by returning before you," he said and then he noticed my pallor.
"What happened to you, Amy? Are you unwell?" he asked with concern, coming closer and checking me.
"I don't know why I've been throwing up since lunchtime. Maybe I've got a stomach bug," I told him.
"Oh, what did you eat?" he asked with a worried look on his face.
"Chicken sandwiches," I told him.
"You should not eat outside food if it doesn't suit you. Why don't you pack something from home?" he said, looking worried. I nodded. I will do just that from tomorrow.
"I'll do that from tomorrow, " I said, already feeling tired again. He sat down next to me.
"Did you take any medicine?" he asked and I nodded. "What do you want to eat for dinner? I'll ask Jenny to make something for us too and send it," I said.
"Something bland and simple although I don't have any appetite, " I told him. He nodded and called Anna. After a minute, he handed me the phone.
"Here, Anna wants to talk to you," he said. I took the phone from his hand and placed it to my ear.
"Hey, Anna!" I croaked into the phone.
"I think you're pregnant, Amy. When did you last get your periods?" she asked excitedly, making me go pale with shock. Me? Pregnant? Oh, God! How would I manage everything now?
"No, no, it's just a stomach bug," I told her but I started having my suspicions now. "My periods aren't regular so I really don't remember when I last had them. Maybe two months back," I said and then my eyes widened with realization. My due date this month passed as well. Could I be pregnant?
"See? I think you're pregnant. You should do a home test. If it's positive, then go to the gynecologist," she told me.
"Okay, if I'm not better by tomorrow, I'll take a test," I told her. I gave the phone to Tristan and he walked away with it to our room to freshen up. I somehow finished my soup and dragged myself to our room. However, before I could reach the bed, my head reeled and I was about to fall when Tristan rushed and caught me in his arms.
"What happened, Amy?" He asked, looking lost as he picked me up and carried me to the bed. "Do you want me to call the doctor?" he asked with concern. I shook my head slowly as he laid me down, covering me with a duvet.
"I'll be fine by tomorrow," I slurred as I lay quietly, sleep overcoming my senses. I had never felt so sleepy in my entire life as I was feeling today. Tristan stared at me with a worried expression on his face.
The next morning too my condition was the same. I didn't at all have the energy to get up. Mom came over with Martha's friend, Delia who would be looking after me as well as the house while I was ill. She handed me a few pregnancy test kits. "Eat something and when you're feeling better, get the tests done," she told me.
Delia was a very good cook and she made me a bland chicken soup which I had with some bread. It was the only thing I could eat the whole day. Mom and Tristan didn't allow me to work at all. The whole day they took care of me and finally, I was able to stand up and get out of bed. I decided to get the tests done and walked into the en-suite with the kits. Tristan waited patiently with mom in our bedroom, awaiting the verdict.
I tested and waited patiently. My eyes widened with disbelief when I saw that I had tested positive, which only meant that I was indeed pregnant! I came out of the washroom, looking dazed. Mom looked at me and understood immediately but Tristan came rushing to me and led me to the bed. "So? Are you or aren't you?" he asked, looking worried.
"I tested positive, I am pregnant. You're gonna be a dad, Jay," I said in a daze. Tristan stood like a statue as he tried to digest the news. Mom hugged me and congratulated me.
"This is great news indeed. You'll need lots of rest and you need to eat small potions whenever you can. Don't skip any meal or nausea will come back," said mom and then turned towards Tristan. "What happened to you?" she said, seeing his frozen state.
"I'm going to be a dad?" he repeated dazedly. "It's unbelievable, isn't it mom?" he asked with a grin. Mom and I smiled at him.
"Yes, my dear boy. I'm the happiest mom alive. You two take care. I'll go home now and give the good news to your dad," she said.
After mom left, Delia made dinner and went home too. Tristan had taken an appointment with the doctor for the next day as mom had suggested. The next day, I was better and Tristan took me to the doctor. She checked me and declared that I was actually five weeks pregnant actually. I was shocked. So I was pregnant when we went to Greece! No wonder I felt sick every now and then. Coming to think of it. I should have expected this since Tristan had never used any sort of protection with me. It was because of the irregular periods that I was saved.
We returned home, feeling happy that we would soon be parents. We couldn't wait for our first ultrasound test. Mom announced the good news to the whole family and everyone kept visiting me every day. Although I couldn't visit the boutique every day, I worked from home and coordinated with my staff through phone or video conferencing. Delia took good care of me but it was mostly Tristan who blew my mind away and stole my heart more. He was always caring towards me but now he treated me like a queen, his queen, taking extreme care of me. I was indeed blessed.
