Chapter 127: Chapter 127

Amelia's POV

There were no messages from Tristan and I didn't disturb him. Maybe when he was in the mood he would contact me. He might be busy or he might be on a flight also. I drove Tristan's car since he went with Adrian.

I reached home around noon, and after freshening up, I went straight to my shop to keep myself absorbed in work so that I would completely forget about Tristan.

When I returned home it was already 10 o'clock at night. I couldn't face the empty apartment. I felt so heartbroken that tears stung my eyes. I didn't feel like cooking for myself and eating all alone. Finally, I couldn't control my feelings any longer. With tears streaming down my eyes, I changed and went to bed. The bedroom reminded me of our time spent together. After laying down for four hours uselessly tossing and turning, I sent Tristan a message,

What are you doing now, Jay? - A

I wanted him to know that I was missing him immensely. All the things that Claire told me came rushing back to my mind and I couldn't help writing,

I'm missing you so much, Jay - A

I waited for an answer, maybe Tristan fell asleep. I dozed off thinking about him, whether he missed me or not. Why didn't he message me back? Was he still angry with me?

I woke up with my phone vibrating with an SMS alert. Checking, I saw that it was 7 o'clock already. Excited that Tristan might have replied to me, I checked to see a message from an unknown number.

Come home for dinner tonight at 8 pm without fail - Caleb

If you don't make it, I'll come over - Caleb

My blood boiled with anger after reading the messages. I hated it when people ordered around, especially those who didn't care about me. I had no idea why Caleb was inviting me home for dinner all of a sudden after years of no contact. The last time I saw him was at my mom's funeral. We hadn't talked even then. And now getting two messages from him really had me worried. I didn't want him to come over to Tristan's house to find me. Therefore I really had no other choice but to go and find out. I packed some clothes and necessities in an overnight trolley bag and locked up the apartment well, so I left for my shop. There was no trusting Caleb. What if he planned to visit me after all? So, I decided to spend my nights in my shop, in the small room behind my office which had a single bed, a dresser with drawers, and a small bathroom. The shop already had a pantry, so I could use that. Previously Cadence was staying here when she didn't have any accommodation. After she shifted, the place was vacant. Till Tristan returned, I decided to stay here. I couldn't face Tristan's empty apartment without shedding tears or missing him. It looked like the best option for me right now.

Before starting the ignition, I checked my mobile phone again. No, there were no messages from Tristan. He had not answered my messages. A strange feeling of happiness gripped my heart which made me feel very unwanted, melancholy, dejected as well as gloomy. The whole day went by, with more work and more clients. I dragged myself on till it was time to go to my parent's house for dinner with Caleb. I put on a simple A-Line, berry-colored dress with a satin belt and elbow-length slightly flared sleeves, and a jeweled brooch. Tying my hair in my favorite French twist updo, I put on nude stilettos and left for his house. I didn't want to go to my parent's house where he lived. I knew it would bring back memories of the unhappy years that I spent there.

I reached five minutes before my scheduled time and parked my car, I pressed the doorbell and waited. Nothing had changed around the place, the garden, the paint, the garage everything was exactly the way it was when I used to live here. However, I was pulled out of my reverie when Veronica, Caleb's wife opened the door. I had met her before during my mom's funeral. She was a beautiful woman with jet black hair and deep blue smiling, kind eyes. She gave me a warm smile which gave me a little hope. Maybe Caleb didn't want to fight with me.

"Hi, Amy! Come in please, " She asked, pulling me inside by my hand.

"Hi," I said with a smile walking into the house. I looked around the place. They hadn't changed anything. It was exactly the same as it was before when her mom was alive

"I'm so happy that you came over, Amy. I've been wanting to bond with you for a long time," she gushed innocently as I just smiled at her.

Caleb came rushing out after hearing our voices, accompanied by a tall, well-built man, of Caleb's age with blonde hair and blue eyes. He was wearing a black business suit and he curiously checked me out.

"Good to see you, Amy," said Caleb as he hugged me suddenly. What was going on?

"Same here," I said dully. "Are Bran and Leo coming too?" I asked when I didn't see them around.

"No, they were here yesterday night," he said as he pulled me forward. "Meet my good friend and lawyer to our group of companies, Scott Baldwin," He introduced his friend. I had no idea why he had invited his friend. If he wanted to talk to me about anything, he couldn't do so in front of an outsider, could he? Or did he have other plans whatsoever?
