Chapter 32: Chapter 32
River
The kiss lasted for a while and I didn't know what to feel as he pulled away. My lips tingled in a warm buzz and my breath came out in short, shaking gasps. My stomach churned with nerves and my face burned.
"Daimen?" I questioned breathily, but soon his warm lips were against mine again. I gasped as he pulled me roughly against him and his fingers pressed into the small of my back.
"Hush." He huffed and one of his hands went to the back of my head and after losing itself in my hair held me closer to him. Our lips locked together never leaving the other's for more than a second. I grabbed at his chest and ended up taking fistfuls of his shirt in my hands. His body was pressed to mine and all I could smell was his intoxicating cologne. I took a quick breath before his mouth claimed mine again.
Daimen's hands slid back to my hips and held me tightly. My heart was beating like crazy and my legs were getting weak.
After Heaven knows how long we stopped kissing and took some much needed breaths. My eyes were still closed and I covered my face in my hands as I tried to recover. I felt like I could do anything and that was not a good sign.
"W-what was that?" I choked out and Daimen removed his hands from my hips. A chill ran up my spine. I slowly lowered my hands and gazed at the boy. He'd backed up to give me space, but the look he wore was expressionless. He stared at me for a long while his jaw ticking slightly.
"It was... kmm, nothing." He said clearing his throat in the middle and I raised my eyebrows, but nodded. I took a deep breath and let out a lengthy sigh.
"Okay, let's just pretend it didn't happen?" I questioned him and he sucked on his teeth before giving a curt nod.
"Sure." Daimen said and turned so his back was facing me.
"Rocky, c'mon boy." He said and after a bit the dog came rushing toward us, his tongue flapping in the wind.
We all got in the car and drove off.
After a few minutes of driving Daimen decided to get dinner at a little restaurant. We got out in the parking lot and Rocky follower with a bark. We stopped at the entrance.
"Wait here boy." Daimen said and with a snort Rocky sat by the front doors. I scratched behind his ears as we went inside and he grumbled lowly.
The place was kind of dark but not too bad; it had a cabin in the woods vibe to it. Not many people were here besides a few at the bar. Daimen and I took a seat at a table.
I was eating a plate of mouth-watering macaroni and cheese when a commotion caused me to look to the side where a woman and man were sitting at a booth by the wall. An older man had come storming into the restaurant, he was probably in his late twenties to early thirties and was virtually spitting fire at the two, more specifically the dark-haired man sitting across from the woman.
I watched as the dark-haired man stood up and got in the newcomer's face only to be shoved into the wall and a girl yelped and jumped from her seat. Her blue eyes widened as she looked at the man with fear.
"Nick what's going on?" The woman said as the man slammed the other harder into the brick.
The one I suppose was Nick glanced at the woman and started to say something before the other punched him in the face.
"You're with that bitch again?! What about my little sister huh? What about Riley?!" The man yelled in the guy's face. Nick spat out some blood and shoved against the man.
"Man fuck her." Nick said and the man punched him again.
With a grunt he grabbed Nick by his collar and slammed him against the wall, "She killed herself because of you! She went to your fucking room today and killed herself! Blew her fucking brains out! And what do you do? Call the cops then leave to fuck around with this whore!" The brother yelled and Nick smirked.
"Man I don't care about that bitch. Only thing I'm worried about is the fact that now I've gotta get new sheets and shit." Nick said nonchalantly and the brother enraged and huffing pulled him from the wall and barreled him into a table. They went down with a thud.
"Damn." Daimen said softly and my heart broke a little. Who could be so heartless?
"She was my little sister! Why? Why the fuck did you play her like that?! Years; you were together for years then you just do this shit? I lost my sister because of you! She loved you! You just used her; why?!" The man yelled while holding Nick down.
"I didn't ask her to kill herself... It ain't my fault." Nick said in a disrespectful manner. The brother shook his head and let the guy go before standing up. His hands were shaking.
"You're lucky I don't kill you." The brother spat and began walking away. I could tell he was fighting with himself.
"At least she's off my case now." Nick said and the brother whirled around and without a slight hesitation reared back his booted foot and kicked him right in the face. Nick went limp and the man gave a huff and stared down at his unmoving body before stalking away.
"Nick... Riley's dead?" The woman said and crouched beside the man who was starting to get up.
"Yeah." He grunted as he sat up. The woman's face contorted in a look of disgust and she gave a shake of her head.
"You sure about that?" She asked and her voice had a knowing sound to it.
Nick looked at her and frowned a little.
"I didn't see a body, but there was blood everywhere and a note. The cops were already there..." the woman nodded at this and a chuckle escaped her lips.
"You really are a heartless bastard." She said and shook her head.
"I told you Brook, you owe me." A new voice said and I glanced to see a woman in a hooded jacket some ways off. She removed the hood to reveal a lovely brunette with long choppy hair.
"Riley?" Nick gasped and the newcomer giggled softly.
"Oh Nick don't look so surprised. Why would I kill myself over you? You're an asshole and needed to be taught a lesson. I just wanted to see how you'd react. At least I know someone loves me." Riley said and stood from her seat.
"I'll help you explain it to your brother. Poor guy was going to flip." Brook said and walked away from Nick and paused in front of Riley.
"I was scared for a moment, I'd actually thought you'd done it." Brook sighed in a breaking voice and suddenly the two were hugging each other.
"And leave you? No way." Riley said and they pulled apart.
"You ready?" Brook asked and Riley took her hand. Their fingers intertwined and with a nod they left.
"What the hell just happened?" Nick grumbled.
Without saying anything Daimen got up from our table and waltzed over. I watched him frowned slightly as he stopped in front of the man. Before I could ask him what he was doing, Daimen had punched the guy in the face before strolling back to me.
"Daimen!" I gasped and he shrugged sitting down at the table.
"I wanted to get a hit in." He said casually and I shook my head.
We left in silence after paying for the meal and Rocky bounced around us as we went to the car.
"I'll take you home... I'll pick you up for the party tomorrow around nine o'clock." Daimen said and I gave a nod.
The drive home was uncomfortably quiet.
