Chapter 10: Chapter 10
"Ha very funny." Daimen said with a humorless laugh. I looked at him and bit my lip in fear. He narrowed his eyes. Christ he's gonna kill me. I'm going to die at a school. I don't want to die in hell. I tried to back away from the furious boy.
The café doors started to open and before I can comprehend what's going on Daimen pushed me roughly against a wall. I groaned as my head hit the wall and I tried to shake off the pain; which only made everything blur before slowly fading to normalcy. If he kept this up I was going to get a concussion one day. I watched groggily as he shot a glance at the person and shrugged a bit before turning his attention and his now smiling face back to me. The pain was almost forgotten.
Oh my lord.... He's like a horrible yet gorgeous hunk. Might I add that smile of his he's wearing now is adorable, the same one he wore in the café. I snapped out of my little daydream and grimaced.
Daimen traced his finger down my jawline and whispered, "You love pissing me off... don't you." He smiled softly and I frowned.
I snorted and pushed him away from me walking back toward the café and seeing an office aid standing there looking shocked. I looked over the aid and pushed past him hearing Daimen say something. I shot him a look then ignored him and entered the cafeteria again. I ignored everyone's stares and made my way back to my table.
I was surprised when a rough hand clamped down on my shoulder. I smirked knowing I'd made him follow me. I turned ready to confront Daimen and froze. That was not Daimen.
"Ryan... What are you-" I started. I looked at my ex and saw that he had a confused, angry look on his face. I looked into his stormy eyes.
"What are you doing with Daimen?" He cut me off. His voice was laced with venom as he said Daimen's name. I blinked in surprise and felt a surge of anger spark in me. I was about to spat at him when a booming voice rose up.
"River!" Daimen snarled stalking over to us as I pulled myself out of my ex's grasp. I walked over to Daimen and he glanced at me then passed me and walked over to stand in front of Ryan.
"Touch her again and you're a dead man." Daimen growled at the boy and I blinked in shock.
The two boys were staring at each other like a lion and a hyena stumbling upon the same kill. Tense and rigid muscles ready for a brawl. I started to protest but Ryan got there before me.
"Why do you care? I'm just looking out for her." The boy spat looking like he wanted to fight Daimen here and now. I gulped and found my voice. I might as well stop this before blood is spilled.
"Daimen leave it alone. It's fine." I said coming up and tugging on his arm. The boy paused and looked down at me and I shook me head softly at him and watched the frown leave his features. He huffed and I felt him relax a little and I pulled away.
"Come on." I said with a fake smile and a bit sternly. He looked at me and nodded. I smiled wider and the bad boy chuckled.
"Hey let's go eat." He said with a sigh and frowned at the boy. Daimen ignored him and pulled me out of the café.
Everyone knew there was no stopping Daimen Princeston.
As soon as we were out of sight from everyone else my smile faded. Daimen dragged me along out of the school and we stopped at his car.
"You made that way more complicated than it had to be." He growled hopping into his car. Good old Daimen.
I walked over and paused before I got in. I scoffed as he waved me to get in and I shook my head. He frowned and opened the door right in my face.
It popped me in my lip hard and I tasted blood.
"The fuck Daimen?!" I yelled. He looked at me and I could tell he was holding back a laugh.
"Shit sorry Riv, but you should've just got in instead of being stubborn." I glared at him as he spoke and he chuckled. I got in the car and crossed my arms over my chest.
"Here let me see." He said sounding serious all of a sudden and pulled me closer to him. I tried to control my heartbeat as his face leaned close to mine and he studied my lip. His hands grabbed my face and he held me in place and I could feel my face heating up. If Daimen noticed he didn't comment on it, but he did lean in a little too close for my liking. His breath fanned against my lips in a warm caress.
My face heated more. Daimen's thumbs rubbed my skin softly and he smirked and looked at me with his stunning amber eyes. His thumb ran across my bleeding lip surprisingly gently and he chuckled. Then he squeezed my lip and I yelped.
"All better." He said pulling away after a millisecond. I was on the edge of crying and I pulled his hands off me. He chuckled and I pushed him causing him to collide with the door.
"Fuck you." I snarled and when he regained his balance Daimen smirked at me.
"Yes please. Tonight? Now? I've never done it in a car, should be exciting." He smirked then chucked when I glared. Hell no. Cocky bastard. I ignored him and put on the damned seatbelt.
"Believe me if you let me take you... You'll be hoarse from screaming my name and sore for a long while sweet cakes. But then again why would I fuck you?" Daimen said giving me a grimace though his eyes traveled over me shamelessly.
"Are we going to eat or not?" I asked trying to ignore his behavior. He chuckled again.
"Yeah." He said patting the steering wheel before starting that car. He muttered something but I ignored him and we drove away.
I sat across from Daimen at some restaurant I'd never been at. Let me tell you it was a hell of a first impression.
Don't get me wrong it was a cozy place... minus the fact there were drunken hoodlums in here running amok. They stumbled and yelled and just did the craziest things. I wonder how I'd act if I got drunk?
Honestly it was the middle of the day, have they nothing better to do?
A man was hollering about some, what was it? I strained to understand him. A cat? Cart? His car maybe? I looked away from him and shrugged to myself.
I looked back to Daimen and realized he was watching me.
"What?" I asked him leaning a little over the table. He looked at me then down at my breasts and blinked a smirk forming on his lips. Suddenly self cautious I leaned back in my seat and pulled my shirt up a bit so that it wasn't hanging so loosely on my shoulders.
"I know we don't really like each other, but I'd lay you." He winked at me and I wrinkled my nose and rolled my eyes. I felt an involuntary blush coming to my face and I looked away and waited for it to leave.
"Do you have to be such an immature ass?" I asked him sincerely with a bitter voice. Daimen paused and after a little bit he shrugged. But he didn't really answer my question.
I rolled my eyes and next thing I know I'm being hit in the cheek by something cold. I yelped in surprise as a cube of ice fell into my lap. I looked up and glared at Daimen. He chuckled softly and tried to act like it wasn't him.
What's up with this guy? I sighed softly and shook my head.
"What?" Daimen said with a smirk. I shook my head harder and sighed once again. I looked down at his plate of food.
"Aren't you going to eat?" I growled at him. He looked at his food and smirked at me. He still had practically a whole burger on his plate accompanied with fries and some booze.
"Yeah." He said answering me in a weird tone.
"You say it like its a bad thing." I said and as soon as the words left my mouth I stopped. Realization hit me.
"It's not a bad thing at all. It's not like you'd let me though." He said slyly taking a bite of his burger and smirking at me.
"Just shut up and eat and drink your beer." I said and a shadow passed over his eyes for a second.
"I don't want it. This here was for you sweet cakes. I thought if you wanted some maybe we could go and have a little fun. I'm sure I can make your day, we could go back to my place." He said eyeing me and I grimaced.
"You're so fucking disgusting. Do you know that?" I said rather loudly. Daimen opened his mouth to reply.
"Tell him girl." Some guy a few tables away from us slurred. I looked over at the guy and nodded and Daimen just looked at him as he glared.
"What's up cutie?" The guy said coming to a wobbly stand. I watched trying not to laugh as he made his way over. He was an okay looking man and he was maybe in his late twenties or thirties. He also was filthy drunk. He stopped by our table right beside me.
"So, this your boyfriend?" He said motioning to Daimen. Daimen nodded and at the same time I shook my head. The guy caught this and smirked.
"Oh, so there's a brick in the relationship?" He slurred. A brick? Err... I guess so.
He stepped closer to me and I looked at the stranger with wide eyes. My eyes widened even more when he reached out and went to grab my arm. Daimen's hand shot out and caught the man's wrist in a death grip.
Daimen ripped the guy's arm away from mine and said in a scary calm voice, "Don't touch her." The drunk scoffed and pulled away- well attempted to. He glared when Daimen wouldn't let him go.
"I mean it." Daimen said staring intently at the man.
Well this was awkward.
I glanced sideways at Daimen, but he was too busy staring the drunk guy down to notice me. He was kind of cute right now. A lot cute. Does that make any sense? Oh well.
"Shut up, boy. Lemme go." The man said trying to pull away once again, but Daimen kept his iron grip.
"Fine." Daimen said and dropped the man's wrist from his grasp. I couldn't help but notice the hand print left on the man. I thought the guy was leaving, but suddenly he swung at Daimen and hit his jaw.
Daimen frowned and looked at me as if for confirmation that the guy just punched him. I looked at him in shock and he blinked and looked at the man. The young man seemed pissed, but otherwise unhurt by the hit.
He stood slowly and I knew what was about to happen and even though it was bad I kind of wanted to watch, you know? It was like when you hear tires screeching on a road and you're inside your house bored; you're gonna hope you hear a crash so you can go out and be nosy a bit and see the wreckage.
"Is there a problem over there?" A man, I think a waiter, asked. Daimen shook his head and laid his hand on the drunk's shoulder.
"I'm just going to have a little chat with my friend here." Daimen said and started to shuffle the man outside.
I watched them as they started to walk out of the place and I stood and hurried after them. I slowed my pace as they exited the building and watched Daimen push the drunk ahead of him and the man tripped.
"What the fuck?" The drunk growled. Daimen waited for the guy to stand before swinging at him. The hit made the man's head turn swiftly to the side and he slumped back to the ground. Daimen bent down and grabbed the man's shirt collar and pulled him to his feet.
"Don't start shit you can't finish." Daimen snarled in the man's face and pushed him away causing him to stumble and fall once again. Daimen chuckled darkly. I leaned against the doorway scared to go out. I wanted to stop it but what could I do?
Was this his IED acting up?
"Get up." Daimen taunted but the man couldn't find his footing. Daimen kicked at him with his foot. I don't think it hurt him, it was more of a push. I stayed glued to the door.
"Get up." Daimen said pushing the guy on his side. The man struggled to get his footing still and Daimen laughed. His laugh sent chills down my spine. This happened a few more times and the man finally got to his feet. Upon finding his footing Daimen kicked the man in the shin and watched him fall to the ground again.
Daimen shook his head, "Tsk. Tsk. Tsk... Get up." Daimen said with a smirk. The man groaned and just laid on the ground apparently giving up.
"Get up." Daimen growled and the man shook his head and stayed on the ground.
Agitation had laced his words and I could see him growing impatient and an impatient Daimen was a violent one. I watched as the boy clenched his fists. He stared at the man for a bit circling him like a wolf to its scared victim before stalking towards him.
"Daimen." I said softly and he turned, stopping mid step, and looked at me. He looked at me lazily then frowned. I cringed and shook my head softly. His foot came down slowly.
"What?" Daimen said looking defensively at me. He looked like a kid who just tried to tell his parents a funny joke but it turned into a long lecture. I motioned to the guy sprawled out on the cold asphalted ground. Daimen shrugged and I walked over. I was compassionate at times and right now I was pitying the drunk. I stooped beside him and tapped his shoulder. He looked at me with sad, defeated eyes.
"It's okay you can get up." I said softly with a small smile. The guy looked like he didn't believe me.
"Daimen go stand over there." I said pointing to a spot a bit away from us. He scoffed and stood where he was. I stared at him fiercely until he walked away with a shrug.
"See? Now come on." I said to the man and I stood up and he followed slowly. Soon he was standing looking utterly embarrassed. I smiled reassuringly at him and he looked over at Daimen with a grimace. I watched as the man dusted himself off and went back inside. When he was gone I turned to Daimen .
"Really?" I said to him with a shake of my head. He walked over so that he was standing in front of me.
"Haven't you fought enough for one day? That's pretty much your third." I said softly and Daimen frowned.
"Don't ever get between me and what I'm doing you bitch." He growled gripping my arms so hard it hurt. I closed my eyes and nodded before bowing my head. He huffed and pushed me away.
I looked at him hesitatingly and he nodded curtly then walked around me and went back inside. I followed and watched as he placed some money on the table and walked out the front door. I followed him and we paused at his car.
"Know your place." Was all he said as he got in and he didn't say anything else. I hopped in as well. We didn't say a word as we drove to school or anything as we entered the school parking lot and got out.
He nodded to me and walked off toward his class. I glanced at my watch and I started for my next, and last, class as well.
I was getting weird looks as people started to recognize me. Then it all clicked into place.
I wasn't just River now to them...
I was Daimen's girl.
