Chapter 57: Chapter 57
Chapter 57 Let me help
MAIA'S POV
Hours passed, and I did not realize that I had fallen asleep. I woke up to something moving in my fingers. Or someone rather.
I immediately lifted my head and came face to face with the demonic monster - my cursed mate.
"Hi." I breathed out.
He stared at me for a couple of seconds before covering himself with a blanket.
"It's okay. You don't have to hide from me." I said in a very calm voice.
He grunted and pulled the covers higher.
"Let me call the pack doctor so that she can check on you," I said, standing up from the chair.
I went to the living room and told the guard to inform Neal that Lucius was already awake. A few minutes later, Neal and the pack doctor arrived.
"How is he?" Neal asked upon entering the living room.
"He seems okay. I can't say. He is hiding from me." I replied.
They both looked at me and I just shrugged.
"Why don't you check on him, doctor?" Neal suggested.
The doctor gave a curt nod before heading towards the room.
"What happened?" Neal asked, sitting across from the chair I was sitting on.
"I think he does not want me to see him like that," I mumbled.
"Of course, he does not. He has been trying to hide it from the world and you. Give him some time. I am sure he will come around." Neal said.
"But how am I supposed to heal him? What am I supposed to do?" I asked.
"Keep doing what you are doing." He simply said.
"And what is that I am doing?" I asked, confused.
"You tell me. What did you do?" He replied.
"I did nothing," I said.
"He won't be awake right now if you did nothing, Maia. You did something and whatever it is, just keep doing it. I have a good feeling that he will be back to his normal self soon." He replied as he got on his feet and headed towards the room.
I leaned my back on the chair and let out a sigh.
'Is there something you did when I fell asleep, Avi?' I asked.
'No! I mean, I wish I did, you know? I have been wanting to run my hands through those hard abs and down his shaft. I bet he is huge!' Avi replied, as horny as ever.
'Avi! Have some respect for yourself. We are facing a situation where we do not know how to deal with and all that is running in your head is all that nasty stuff,' I scolded her.
'Oh please! Don't act as you have never thought about it,' she said.
'When you are back to your senses, you know where to find me,' I replied before blocking her through the mind link.
After a couple of minutes, the doctor came out.
"How is he, Doctor?" I asked.
"He is good. He is better. There has been a wonderful improvement in his health. Which brings me to my question, what did you do? How did he wake up?" She replied, asking about what I did like I knew what she was talking about.
"I could ask you the same question, doctor. What did I do? It seems like everyone thinks I know what to do and I am here thinking, why the hell is he even like that? We need his brain sequence." I stated.
"I'm sorry. I know that this is all too much for you to process and for us pressuring you, do not help. We are just worried about King Alpha's safety. If he does not return to his old self, a lot of things can happen and without him, things can go out of hand. We are all at the edge and you are our last and only hope." She replied.
"I get that, but I don't know what to do. I am not a witch, let alone a powerful wolf. How am I supposed to help him?" I asked.
"I have a powerful reason to believe that whatever happened has got something to do with the mate bond. Can you tell me exactly what you did yesterday?" She replied, asking me for every detail.
After I told her everything that happened, her face lit up like an idea came into her mind.
"I think I know what happened!" She exclaimed.
Neal came out of the room, running towards us when he heard.
"What? What happened?" Neal asked.
"When you held his hand, your wolves could communicate somehow, and it gave his wolf's strength. This is my theory." She explained.
I looked at her with my brows furrowed. There was only one question running through my head.
'How?'
Neal looked at me with one of those smiles that said, 'I have a plan'.
"What are you thinking?" I asked, hesitantly.
"You should stay in that room 24/7." He said.
Before I could open my mouth to argue, he dragged me to the room.
I heard Lucius growl as soon as he saw me inside the room.
"No, Lucius! She has already seen you like this. You need her to be back to your old self. It's already a little too late to hide." Neal said, looking at Lucius.
I heard Lucius growl again before pulling the covers over his head.
I was about to plead with Neal to let me go out, but he looked at me with pleading eyes.
"I am begging you, Maia. If your mate bond can help bring him back to his old self, I promise that as soon as he is himself again, I will let you leave. No one would know that you were here. Please." He said.
Deep inside, I wanted to help. I really did. I would have not agreed to come with him in the first place if I did not care about Lucius, but in all honesty, I did not know what to do. Even if it was the mate bond that would have helped to bring him back to his old self, what was I supposed to do?
I simply let out a sigh and looked at Lucius. The least I could do was to try. I sat on the chair by his bed as Neal left the room.
After a couple of minutes of silence, I cleared my throat.
"I know you know I am here. You are shy or maybe scared, I am seeing you like this. You shouldn't be. No matter how ugly you look, we are mates, no matter what. If me being here can help you shift back to your human side, then I will stay. I am not here because Neal forced me. I am here because you are my mate and I should look out for you the same way you did for me. So, please let me help." I said.
I waited for him to react or do something. Minutes passed, and I was about to lose hope when I saw him drag the covers down, revealing his beastly face.
