Chapter 45: Chapter 45
Chapter 45
LUCIUS'S POV
"Please don't look for me."
That was the last thing I heard from her before she left me.
Lucian was so mad at me that he blocked me for the next three weeks.
The pain that I felt was so much to handle and I couldn't bear it, so I stayed in Maia's room for a whole week. Not once did I leave the room which still smells like her. I hugged the pillow and the blanket that she used to cover up, filling my nostrils with her scent that would numb the pain in my heart or at least help me calm down for a while.
Even when Neal came and tried to talk to me, he was even convinced to leave the room. I threw a punch at him instead. I became a ticking bomb that could explode at any moment if triggered. The rest of the wolves around me were terrified because of my changed behavior. I have lost my mate...
"Lucius, how long are you going to sulk around? I know that you are going through a very rough patch, but your pack needs you. You can't just hide in here forever." Neal scolded me, trying to get me to leave the room for the nth time since this morning.
"How many times do I have to tell you to leave me alone?" I growled at him.
He flinched a bit.
I knew that he only meant what was good for me and the pack, but losing Maia was worse than losing a war.
"You have been here for a week. The pile of all the requests is piling high already. Your meeting that has been already postponed needs to be taken care of. "Neal said.
The only reason I left the room was that I was badly needed in my office by the elders.
***
"Thank you so much, King Alpha, for personally taking care of this issue." One of the elders stated.
They had been going on and on about some issues which I don't even know. I do not know about what is happening around the world because my world has left me. I was just sitting in front of my desk, pretending to be listening to their conversation when in reality, I was just itching to get back to Maia's room and wrapped myself with her delicious scent.
"If there is nothing else to discuss, I will update you all about the progress," I replied to them.
A few minutes later, they left my office and I was alone with my thoughts. I was having all this headache from thinking too much. As much as I wanted to look for Maia and bring her back, she told me not to.
How was I supposed to function? She just left abruptly, yet I felt like wanting to murder everyone. Just when I was about to leave my office, an annoying scent hit my nose. If only there was another way out of this office, I would have taken that. But then I made a mental note to make a secret passage from my office.
I pulled the door open and saw the last person I wanted to see standing in front of me.
"I was so worried about you. Are you okay? I haven't seen you in weeks." Pamela asked while showing her fake concern towards me.
When she tried to touch me, I growled at her and she immediately pulled her hands back to herself.
I pushed past her and went back to Maia's room.

All the knots and emotional tension in my body were released as soon as her lingering scent hit my nose. I curled up into a ball in her bed as I hugged her pillow, waiting for her scent to comfort me and put me into a deep sleep. Somehow, I was still hoping that it was just a nightmare and that when I woke up, she was still going to be here with me.
Eventually, sleep took over me for a couple of minutes. I dreamt of her dancing around in her ball gown, on the dance floor in the ballroom, running around the sea of sunflowers, swimming around the lake, and drinking tea in the garden. They were all beautiful dreams until I had to wake up to my nightmare - the reality.
It has been my routine for the next eight weeks. I would only leave her room when I was needed in the office or during the full moon. I wouldn't want to trash her room when I shift. Besides, Pamela was still around. The same reason why my mate left me.
Finally, Lucian came around and unblocked me. It was so douche of him to even block me.
'What the fuck are you doing, skulking around in our mate's room?' he asked angrily.
It was the first question he asked after he gave me the silent treatment.
'Hello to you too, mutt.' I replied in a monotonous tone.
'I am serious, human! You have already fucked enough of our relationship with our mate, yet here you are sulking in her room doing nothing? When will you ever grow your fucking balls to man up and find her? I don't even know why I was paired with such a demon like you. You do nothing but ruin our chances of being with our mate.' he spat at me.
'Did you just unblock me to nag like a fucking pup? Because that's how you are sounding right now.' I complained.
'Is that all you can do? Make fun of me? Your soul? What a pity! You are a goner!' he jabbed at me.
'What the hell do you want from me, Lucian? What else do you want me to do? I fucking tried to stop her from leaving and you know I did, but the situation was not easy.' I tried to give him a reason.
Tears started falling down my face. I did not realize that I was wailing until Pamela hugged me. An intimate touch from her was enough to send hatred out of my body. I glared at her and pushed her out of the bed.
"What the hell are you doing here? Who told you to be here? Get out! Get the fuck out from her!!" I growled at her.
She immediately scrammed and left the room with fear in her eyes.
At that moment, I did not care if I was mortifying her. All I cared about was that she entered Maia's room and no one dared to enter the room except for me or her.
'Way to go dick.' Lucian scoffed.
Instead of barking back at him, I simply ignored him and hugged the pillow closer than possible.
A few hours had passed when I smelled Neal's scent nearby. It must have meant that he would enter the room any moment now. Instead, his scent just lingered by the door, but it never left. Even though I wanted to check what he was doing, I was too comfortable in Maia's bed to even leave.
When a couple of minutes passed, I heard the door open.
"Bro, seriously, when are you going back to your old self?" he asked with a narrowed gaze on me.
"When she comes back." I simply replied and shrugged my shoulders.
"Don't you think it's stupid to wait and do nothing but except a miracle to happen? You are not going to do anything but stick here. Then how can you think she will ever come back? Look around you, Lucius. When was the last time you took a bath? When was the last time you ate? Even if the pack is looking for you, you completely ignored their needs. Who knows if a war breaks out or the rogues' attack, I am sure that there will be lots of fatalities and when that happens, it will all be on you." he spat before storming out the room.
I ignored everything he said and focused on the remaining scents of Maia. Being in her room for almost 3 months, the room was starting to smell like me and her scent was disappearing. I felt like I was about to go haycock crazy if I wasn't able to smell her scent.
"Maia, please come back," I begged as I stared at her picture on my phone.
